Karl Rove, a former senior adviser to President George W. Bush, ripped into President Donald Trump on Sunday for wasting his platform and his time attacking NFL players protesting by kneeling during the national anthem. “The president has two very valuable assets: his time and his voice. This president wastes it when he engages with things like this,” Rove said Sunday during a Fox News panel discussion on Trump´s recent controversial attacks of NFL players who protest for civil rights by taking a knee during the national anthem. Rove added that the president often spends time he ought to be

John McCain revealed his doctors gave him a ´very poor prognosis´ when he first found out about the rare and aggressive brain cancer that he continues to battle. The Arizona senator said his doctors told him at the time that his condition was ´very, very serious´. ´So I just said, "I understand." Now we´re going to do what we can, get the best doctors we can find and do the best we can. And at the same time, celebrate with gratitude a life well-lived,´ McCain said during an interview on 60 Minutes, that aired Sunday night. McCain underwent surgery in July

N.F.L. players and owners, already on edge after critical statements made by President Trump at a rally on Friday night, woke up on game day to another series of tweets from the president, this time calling for football fans to boycott N.F.L. games unless the league fires or suspends players who refuse to stand for the national anthem. (Snip) Steelers Won’t Participate in Anthem The Pittsburgh Steelers team does not plan to emerge from the locker room in Chicago until after the national anthem. “We’re not going to play politics,” Tomlin told CBS. “We’re football players, we’re football coaches. The entire Pittsburgh Steelers team remained in the locker room during the national anthem, with the exception of one player: Army veteran Alejandro Villanueva, who plays offensive tackle for the Steelers. While the rest of his teammates remained in the locker room, Villanueva stood in the tunnel holding his helmet in his left hand and holding his right hand over his heart as the anthem played. CARSON, Calif. — It’s time for NFL owners to go beyond issuing statements and to make a statement: bring back quarterback Colin Kaepernick. On Sunday, from an undisclosed location, Kaepernick retweeted on his Twitter account several images of NFL players wearing T-shirts that read #IMWITHKAP. NFL owners need to show they are as well. They finally can dispel theories that Kaepernick has been blackballed for refusing to stand for the national anthem last season, or, fearing a blacklash from fans, that they simply lack the courage to give him another chance. The Dallas Cowboys, together with team owner Jerry Jones, take a collective knee at the start of the Monday Night Football game to display their unity with… well, something probably. Stick a fork in the financial future of the NFL, it’s done; finished. The only thing that was saving the NFL from full organizational collapse was the advent of Fantasy Football Leagues and the subsequent betting and fan-based league play therein. Never underestimate the inability of any business organization to inoculate itself with idiot resistant policies once they enter the arena of identity politics.

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin indicated Sunday night that he did not want offensive tackle Alejandro Villanueva to stand for the national anthem, instead of sitting it out with the rest of his teammates. Villanueva, a former Army Ranger who served three tours in Afghanistan, was the only Steelers player to stand for the anthem. While Villanueva stood in the tunnel, hand over his heart, the rest of the team remained in the locker room in protest of President Trump’s comments that players who kneel during the national anthem should be fired. Many people heralded Pittsburgh Steeler football player Alejandro Villanueva as a hero for standing up during the national anthem…. Today, not-so-much. Unfortunately, today Villaneuva says he was embarrassed to stand for the U.S. flag and National Anthem; and he apologized to his team and coach for not supporting their decision to stay in the locker room. A day after most of the N.F.L. engaged in at least some form of demonstration during the playing of the national anthem, the Dallas Cowboys linked arms in the middle of the University of Phoenix Stadium field in Glendale, Ariz., and collectively took a knee before the song was played. The Arizona Cardinals linked arms in the end zone with some military personnel in a show of unity. By the time the pop star Jordin Sparks began singing the song, the Cowboys, who were joined in kneeling by the team’s owner, Jerry Jones, had moved to the sideline, linking arms while standing. The crowd, which had booed as the visiting C

In June 1979, the Bee Gees were on top of the world. Months before, their “Saturday Night Fever” soundtrack, featuring songs written and/or performed by the Australian trio, had won a Grammy for album of the year. The year before, it spent 24 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. And now the band was playing 60,000-seat arenas across America. Disco was king, and the Bee Gees — brothers Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb, clad in white suits and flashing gold chains — were its ambassadors. At the start of the tour, Maurice got hold of a T-shirt that made everyone

“Are football fans voting with their TVs?” asks a new Rasmussen Reports survey. “As the NFL struggles to explain this season’s downturn in viewer ratings, 34 percent of American adults say they are less likely to watch an NFL game because of the growing number of protests by players on the field,” the poll reports, noting that 12 percent say they are more likely to watch, while half say the protests have no effect on their viewing decisions. “Interestingly, there’s little difference of opinion on the protests and NFL viewing habits among whites, blacks and other minority adults,” the poll

Arizona Sen. John McCain insists his vote against a GOP plan to repeal ObamaCare is not payback for Donald Trump demeaning the former POW’s heroism during the Vietnam War when the president remarked, “I like people who weren’t captured.” “If I took offense at everybody who has said something about me, or disparaged me or something like that — life is too short. You’ve got to move on,” McCain, a Navy pilot who spent more than five years in a North Vietnamese prison, told CBS’s “60 Minutes” in an interviewed that aired Sunday. “And on an issue of this importance
