During a live interview with Carly Fiorina on Wednesday, MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell fretted over the Republican presidential candidate’s attacks on Hillary Clinton: “You were really the breakout star according to all reports from Iowa last weekend, the biggest crowds, especially when you went after Hillary Clinton. Is that because you’re the only woman in the Republican field, that you feel enabled to go after her?” Fiorina explained: “I think when 82% of the American people now believe that there is a professional political class more interested in preserving its own power and privilege than it is in serving the American

House Democrat Rep. Carolyn Maloney (N.Y.) has introduced a bill that would require gun owners to carry liability insurance. The Firearm Risk Protection Act, unveiled Friday, would require gun buyers to have liability insurance coverage before being allowed to purchase a weapon, and would impose a fine of $10,000 if an owner is found not to have it. Service members and law enforcement officers, however, would be exempt from the requirement. “We require insurance to own a car, but no such requirement exists for guns," Maloney said in a statement. "The results are clear: car fatalities have declined by 25

The GOP is falling apart. How else to explain the wide variance of positions within the Republican Party on basic issues ranging from same-sex marriage to immigration to tax policy? For years, GOP bigwigs have explained that the Republican Party can only succeed if it expands and evolves, embracing as many views as possible. There’s only one problem: that simply doesn’t work. While the Democratic Party has moved toward leftist purity in which Hillary Clinton’s policy positions are virtually indistinguishable from socialist Bernie Sanders’, the Republican Party has become to political positions what COEXIST bumper stickers are to religion –

At a fundraiser in Miami last night, President Obama told supporters that he felt liberated by his dwindling years left in the White House, admitting that he thinks he’s surprising Americans by the things he was accomplishing though executive order. “It is a liberating feeling in the sense that the amount of time I have left, it concentrates the mind, and I think a lot of folks have been surprised at the degree to which we are moving and pushing and trying whatever we can to advance the goals of making sure that every American in this country and every

Federal prosecutors indicted former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert Thursday on charges he allegedly hid payments he made to an apparent blackmailer in order to compensate for and conceal “prior misconduct.” The 73-year-old Illinois Republican is accused of structuring the withdrawal of $925,000 in cash in order to evade the requirement that banks report cash transactions over $10,000. He is also accused of lying to the FBI about the withdrawals. Hastert was indicted on two counts, both carrying a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. (Columbia, South Carolina) Hillary Clinton is a lifelong Methodist, but you wouldn´t know that by listening to most of her speeches. She rarely speaks -- at least at any length -- about her faith. But the presidential candidate broke with that tradition on Wednesday when she reflected on her religious study and background, during an impromptu conversation with Rev. Frederick Donnie Hunt at Main Street Bakery. (snip) Clinton told Hunt about her religious history and commended him for his continued study. "You´re doing what is the most important thing to do, it´s continuing to study and learn what the scripture says and

Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina argues that the Chinese are are not entrepreneurial, don’t innovate, and are “not terribly imaginative” in her argument against the Common Core education policy. “I also think the argument for Common Core is frequently, ‘Oh, we have to compete with the Chinese,’” Fiorina said earlier in the year to the Iowa Caffeinated Thoughts political vlogger. Fiorina cited her decades of business experience in China to say that the Chinese people are good at test taking but are not imaginative, entrepreneurial, or innovative. “I have been doing business in China for decades, and I will

The tendency of millennials to rent instead of buy is turning the retail industry upside down.
