Aboard the Papal Plane — Pope Francis on Sunday said the Catholic Church should apologize to gay people and others who have been offended or exploited in the past. "I believe that the church not only should apologize to the person who is gay whom it has offended," the Pope said, "but has to apologize to the poor, to exploited women, to children exploited for labor; it has to ask forgiveness for having blessed many weapons." The Rev. James Martin, a Jesuit priest and editor at large of America magazine, called the Pope´s apology historic. "This is a groundbreaking moment. While

Someone needs to send an apology to Ohio. I did not vote for Elizabeth Warren, so you cannot blame me for what is about to happen. Today, our Massachusetts nightmare hits the campaign trail for the Democratic presidential ticket. U.S. Sen. Warren will be stumping with Hillary Clinton in the swing state. Will they do a sit-in to demand votes for the ticket? That’s the only way they are going to get support for this already flawed ticket if Warren is chosen for the vice presidential slot. It’s no surprise that Warren is being considered. She has been working hard

(Video) On this weekend’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday,” Washington Post columnist George Will explained why he left the Republican Party over presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. Will said, “I left it for the same reason I joined it in 1964 when I voted for Barry Goldwater, because I was a conservative. I leave for the same reason, I’m a conservative. To give you a time line, shortly after Trump became the presumptive nominee he had a summit meeting with Paul Ryan where they stressed their vast shared ground, which is more important than their differences. I thought that

Donald Trump is firing back at "overrated" conservative columnist George Will, days after the Washington Post writer said he left the Republican Party because of its presumptive GOP nominee. Trump tweeted out his attack of Will early Sunday, saying the Pulitzer Prize-winning commentator had "lost his way long ago": (Tweet) Will, also a Fox News contributor, told right-leaning PJ Media on Friday that he had become an "unaffiliated voter" in Maryland because of Trump´s influence on the GOP. He urged Republicans to "make sure he loses" and that the better option would be to "grit their teeth for four years"

The foreign ministers of France and Germany are due to reveal a blueprint to effectively do away with individual member states in what is being described as an “ultimatum”. Under the radical proposals EU countries will lose the right to have their own army, criminal law, taxation system or central bank, with all those powers being transferred to Brussels. Controversially member states would also lose what few controls they have left over their own borders, including the procedure for admitting and relocating refugees. The plot has sparked fury and panic in Poland - a traditional ally of Britain in the fight against

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill issued a guide this week which instructs students that Christmas vacations and telling a woman “I love your shoes!” are “microagressions.” The taxpayer-funded guide — entitled “Career corner: Understanding microaggressions” — also identifies golf outings and the words “boyfriend” and “girlfriend” as microagressions. Seventh Circuit Judge Richard Posner sees “absolutely no value” in studying the U.S. Constitution because “eighteenth-century guys” couldn’t have possibly foreseen the culture and technology of today. In a recent op-ed for Slate, Judge Posner, a senior lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School, argued that the original Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the post–Civil War amendments “do not speak to today.” “I see absolutely no value to a judge of spending decades, years, months, weeks, day, hours, minutes, or seconds studying the Constitution, the history of its enactment, its amendments, and its implementation (across the centuries —

Former Arizona governor and Donald Trump supporter Jan Brewer went off on CNN today after listening to President Obama trashing Trump’s “bigotry.” Brewer said that Obama is always “calling names and calling people bigots and racists,” which she considers “offensive” talk from a president. Martin O’Malley shot back, “Donald Trump is a bigot, Donald Trump is a racist, Donald Trump, in fact, is making fascist appeals.” (Video) Brewer insisted, “Every time you disagree with them, no matter what subject it is, you’re a bigot or you’re a racist!” O’Malley and Brewer ended up fighting a bit and

President Obama on Monday lauded the Supreme Court’s decision to block Texas from enforcing one of the strictest abortion laws in the country. “I am pleased to see the Supreme Court protect women´s rights and health today,” Obama said in a statement. “These restrictions harm women´s health and place an unconstitutional obstacle in the path of a woman´s reproductive freedom.” The 5-3 ruling of the court was celebrated by Democrats and women’s rights groups who argued the Texas law would make it virtually impossible for women in the Lone Star State to obtain an abortion. “We remain strongly committed to

Democratic operatives responsible for creating their party’s platform this year have unanimously adopted a provision calling for the Department of Justice to investigate companies who disagree with Democrats on global warming science. A panel of Democrats voted Friday to approve a final draft of the party’s platform to promote “Progressive Democratic Values,” which apparently includes investigating energy companies who “misled” shareholders about global warming. (It stands for lesbian gay trans bisexual queer/questioning and intersex.) The two-hour sensitivity training was launched in March by the city Commission for Human Rights after Mayor de Blasio signed an executive order allowing people to use any public bathroom or locker room they identified with, regardless of their sexual anatomy. WASHINGTON -- The Supreme Court has struck down Texas´ widely replicated regulation of abortion clinics in the court´s biggest abortion case in nearly a quarter century. The justices voted 5-3 Monday in favor of Texas clinics that protested the regulations as a thinly veiled attempt to make it harder for women to get an abortion in the nation´s second-most populous state. Justice Stephen Breyer´s majority opinion for the court held that the regulations are medically unnecessary and unconstitutionally limit a woman´s right to an abortion. Texas had argued that its 2013 law and subsequent regulations were needed to protect women´s health. The rules
