Democratic operatives responsible for creating their party’s platform this year have unanimously adopted a provision calling for the Department of Justice to investigate companies who disagree with Democrats on global warming science. A panel of Democrats voted Friday to approve a final draft of the party’s platform to promote “Progressive Democratic Values,” which apparently includes investigating energy companies who “misled” shareholders about global warming. (Snip) The drafting committee, led by DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings, has decided to back ongoing investigations by mostly Democratic state attorneys general into ExxonMobil’s stance on global warming.

The foreign ministers of France and Germany are due to reveal a blueprint to effectively do away with individual member states in what is being described as an “ultimatum”. Under the radical proposals EU countries will lose the right to have their own army, criminal law, taxation system or central bank, with all those powers being transferred to Brussels. Controversially member states would also lose what few controls they have left over their own borders, including the procedure for admitting and relocating refugees. The plot has sparked fury and panic in Poland - a traditional ally of Britain in the fight against

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill issued a guide this week which instructs students that Christmas vacations and telling a woman “I love your shoes!” are “microagressions.” The taxpayer-funded guide — entitled “Career corner: Understanding microaggressions” — also identifies golf outings and the words “boyfriend” and “girlfriend” as microagressions. Seventh Circuit Judge Richard Posner sees “absolutely no value” in studying the U.S. Constitution because “eighteenth-century guys” couldn’t have possibly foreseen the culture and technology of today. In a recent op-ed for Slate, Judge Posner, a senior lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School, argued that the original Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the post–Civil War amendments “do not speak to today.” “I see absolutely no value to a judge of spending decades, years, months, weeks, day, hours, minutes, or seconds studying the Constitution, the history of its enactment, its amendments, and its implementation (across the centuries —

Democrat Hillary Clinton told a campaign rally in Cincinnati, Ohio on Monday that she wants to "make it right" for "hard-working Americans," including debt-burdened college students. "Let´s set the goal of making college debt-free for everyone," Clinton said, without giving details. In her remarks, she pointed to one of her own campaign volunteers: "Let´s make it right for young people, like Erica Roitblat in West Lake (Ohio)," Clinton said. "She dreamed her whole life of going to Ohio University in Athens. But the housing crash in 2008 wiped out her parents´ savings and their small business. So to get her

First lady Michelle Obama is relying heavily on social media to tout an overseas trip tied to the Let Girls Learn campaign, which is aiming to get an estimated 62 million uneducated girls into school. Obama started a Snapchat account with help from celebrities including James Corden of "The Late Late Show," with whom she recently taped a "Carpool Karaoke" that will run at a future date. She´s posting reports on her stops in Liberia, Morocco and Spain on hellogiggles.com, an online community for women. President Obama on Monday lauded the Supreme Court’s decision to block Texas from enforcing one of the strictest abortion laws in the country. “I am pleased to see the Supreme Court protect women´s rights and health today,” Obama said in a statement. “These restrictions harm women´s health and place an unconstitutional obstacle in the path of a woman´s reproductive freedom.” The 5-3 ruling of the court was celebrated by Democrats and women’s rights groups who argued the Texas law would make it virtually impossible for women in the Lone Star State to obtain an abortion. “We remain strongly committed to

Leading climate doomsayer Michael Mann recently downplayed the importance of climate change science, telling Democrats that data and models “increasingly are unnecessary” because the impact is obvious. “Fundamentally, I’m a climate scientist and have spent much of my career with my head buried in climate-model output and observational climate data trying to tease out the signal of human-caused climate change,” Mr. Mann told the Democratic Platform Drafting Committee at a hearing. “What is disconcerting to me and so many of my colleagues is that these tools that we’ve spent years developing increasingly are unnecessary because we can see climate change,

House Republicans on Tuesday is expected to release their long-awaited report on the fatal Benghazi attacks, charging President Obama, House Democrats and Hillary Clinton´s State Department of stonewalling and claiming that Clinton´s team did nothing to help the Americans under attack. The GOP report comes a day after Democrats on the House Select Committee on Benghazi released their report Monday that claimed the four killed in Benghazi, including U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, were sitting ducks and that nothing could be done to help them. The GOP dismissed the report. The GOP takes a different view, as seen in the

WASHINGTON -- The Supreme Court has struck down Texas´ widely replicated regulation of abortion clinics in the court´s biggest abortion case in nearly a quarter century. The justices voted 5-3 Monday in favor of Texas clinics that protested the regulations as a thinly veiled attempt to make it harder for women to get an abortion in the nation´s second-most populous state. Justice Stephen Breyer´s majority opinion for the court held that the regulations are medically unnecessary and unconstitutionally limit a woman´s right to an abortion. Texas had argued that its 2013 law and subsequent regulations were needed to protect women´s health. The rules

It’s a contest to see who can BLANK the most times in 60 seconds.´ O´Donnell responded to Baldwin by saying: ´You know my feelings about that orange slug.´ The former View host then selected to word ´lie´ to fill in the ´BLANK,´ causing the audience to loudly cheer.
