Those are just a few of the words Obama administration officials have used to describe Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Jeffrey Goldberg, a deeply-sourced reporter at The Atlantic who covers the Middle East. The officials’ displeasure towards Netanyahu stems from disagreements over how to handle Palestinian peace talks, as well Netanyahu’s own growing frustration with President Barack Obama, Goldberg reported Tuesday. Ironically, the digs also stem, in part, from Netanyahu’s decision to forego preemptive strikes against Iran when it was threatening to continue its nuclear program. “The thing about Bibi is, he’s a chickensh**,” an unnamed Obama administration official

Timothy D. Cook, Apple’s chief executive, said he was “proud to be gay” in an essay published early Thursday, becoming by far the most prominent executive of a public company to come out. “Let me be clear: I’m proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me,” Mr. Cook wrote in the essay, published by Bloomberg Businessweek. Mr. Cook, 53, has never spoken publicly about his sexual orientation in the many years he has worked in the spotlight at Apple. In his essay, Mr. Cook also noted that he had spent much

A senior official calling Netanyahu “chickenshit” shows the ugly side of the president and his team when it comes to the Jewish state. When it comes to Israel, President Obama has been Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. There is campaign Obama, who assures the Israelis he doesn’t bluff when it comes to stopping Iran’s nuclear program, lavishes the Jewish state with even more military assistance than his predecessor, and goes out of his way to let bygones be bygones. Then there is the other Obama. This is the one that instructs his secretary of state to travel to the Middle East to

The nurse who was quarantined at a New Jersey hospital despite exhibiting no Ebola symptoms after arriving from West Africa, won´t follow the quarantine imposed by Maine officials, her attorney said on Tuesday night. Kaci Hickox insists that she is not under quarantine and has said she is seeking time to decompress at an undisclosed location in the state. ´Going forward she does not intend to abide by the quarantine imposed by Maine officials because she is not a risk to others,´ her attorney Steven Hyman said. ´She is asymptomatic and under all the protocols cannot be deemed a medical

So here’s the big symbolic “screw you, Chris Christie” press conference that I thought was going to happen yesterday. Christie wants mandatory precautionary quarantines of health-care workers returning from the hot zone, so Obama’s going to show him what a hysterical overreaction that is by appearing personally with some of those workers. Who, by the way, are currently still in the incubation period. “What about science?” wondered Noah on Twitter.(Snip for tweet) Explain this to me. Has the CDC now decided that transmission is impossible when someone is asymptomatic, regardless of how recent their contact with Ebola patients might be? If

Last week, we got information from a source in the Executive Office of the President that the EOP’s computer system had been down for, at that time, a week. Federal IT personnel evidently were having trouble identifying and fixing the problem that had brought the computer system down (although email and internet access had been restored), and EOP employees were instructed to say nothing about it. Scott followed up with posts here, here and here. He repeatedly emailed the White House press office, asking for information about the outage. The press office acknowledged receipt of his emails, but refused to

Harvard University on Wednesday provided new proof that the Democrats are going to be broadsided in Tuesday’s national elections as millennial voters, in a shocking shift, now prefer a Republican-controlled Congress and give President Obama his second lowest grade ever. A new and massive poll of 2,029 18- to 29-year-olds from Harvard’s Institute of Politics just released found that of those who say they will “definitely be voting,” 51 percent want the GOP in charge, 47 percent favoring Democratic control. The unexpected anti-Democratic swing prompted a Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reporter quizzing poll experts on a media conference call to IOP blurted out,

Attorneys for a nurse released from isolation in New Jersey after returning to the U.S. from West Africa say she will not comply with Maine health officials’ requirements that she remain under quarantine at home for 21 days. Kaci Hickox, who treated Ebola patients in Sierra Leone and shows no symptoms of the virus, agreed to refrain from going out in public for two days, said Steven Hyman of the New York law firm McLaughlin & Stern. She traveled to Maine on Monday by private car after her release from New Jersey, where she was isolated against her will in

The Affordable Care Act was supposed to make health care more affordable, but a newly released study of insurance policies before and after Obamacare shows that average premiums have skyrocketed, for some groups by as much as 78 percent. Average insurance premiums in the sought-after 23-year-old demographic rose most dramatically, with men in that age group seeing an average 78.2 percent price increase before factoring in government subsidies, and women having their premiums rise 44.9 percent, according to a report by HealthPocket scheduled for release Wednesday. The study, which was shared Tuesday with The Washington Times, examined average health insurance

Sarah Palin stopped by Stuart Varney’s Fox Business Network show Tuesday afternoon to share her thoughts on a variety of topics, including recent comments about her family by CNN anchor Carol Costello. “The hatred level directed against you is extraordinary and a disgrace,” Varney said at the top of his interview with Palin. “Has it driven you out of politics, driven you away from public office for good?” “No, bless their hearts, those haters out there,” Palin replied, saying the comments only “invigorate” her to keep doing whatever it is she does. FORT KENT, Maine — Maine health officials say until a judge signs off on a court order they don´t have the authority to prevent a nurse who treated Ebola patients in West Africa from leaving her home. Department of Health and Human Services Commissioner Mary Mayhew says state police will monitor nurse Kaci Hickox´s movements if she leaves her house. But Hickox can´t be detained without a judge´s approval. Hickox has shown no symptoms of Ebola. She has been abiding by the state´s voluntary quarantine but says she´ll stop doing so Thursday. That sets up a showdown with the

The White House’s computer network has been hacked, with some temporary outages experienced in the executive office of the president, a White House official said Tuesday. The anonymous official told Reuters that there has been suspicious cyber activity on an unclassified White House network, but would not say who was responsible for the activity. “In the course of assessing recent threats we identified activity of concern on the unclassified EOP network. Any such activity is something that we take very seriously. In this case we took immediate measures to evaluate and mitigate the activity,” the official told the wire
