The Obamas have spoken candidly about their first-hand encounters with racism and secrets of their life in the White House. The President and First Lady recalled their experiences of prejudice including a time when Barack was handed someone´s car keys to fetch the vehicle at valet-parking outside of a restaurant. Michelle Obama told People earlier this month that their highly-privileged life in the White House has only been for the past six years and before that they were also exposed to prejudice. She said: ´Before that, Barack Obama was a black man that lived on the South Side of Chicago,

Columnist Charles Krauthammer said Jeb Bush’s probable entry into the 2016 presidential race makes him the “instant frontrunner” for the GOP nomination on “Special Report” Tuesday. The conservative commentator also said his entry will “discourage” some of the fringe candidates” from running.Earlier Tuesday, Bush said in a Facebook post that he will “actively explore” a 2016 candidacy “in the coming months.” “As a result of these conversations and thoughtful consideration of the kind of strong leadership I think America needs, I have decided to actively explore the possibility of running for President of the United States,” Bush said

Having learned nothing from its in-the-tank-for-Democrats Hillary Clinton cover debacle, People Magazine is helping out President and Mrs. Obama in their efforts to play the racial victimization card with an interview bemoaning racial profiling, accompanied by a photo that shows a lot of work on making them look like an appealing couple. This is the gem of the piece: "There´s no black male my age, who´s a professional, who hasn´t come out of a restaurant and is waiting for their car and somebody didn´t hand them their car keys," said the president, adding that, yes, it had happened to him. None?

War On Terror: The Taliban outdoes even the Islamic State in its latest atrocity extravaganza. In deploring the attack, the president conveniently omits mention of the group he led the U.S. in surrender to. British Comedian John Cleese in his farcical show "Fawlty Towers" got howls with his skit about hotel staff being under strict orders not to "mention the war" while German guests were staying. Cleese´s buffoonish hotel owner Basil Fawlty preceded to ask them if they´d like some "Hermann Goering" when he meant "pickled herring." Back in 2008, Cleese offered candidate Obama his services as speechwriter — a

Mayor de Blasio said police funerals are a “sacred” moment that city leaders have a responsibility to attend and police unions calling for the mayor to stay away from funerals do not represent their members. “It’s divisive. It’s inappropriate,” de Blasio said in an appearance on The View of the plea by the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association for its members to sign forms asking de Blasio and City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito to skip their funerals should they die in the line of duty. “When an officer dies, it is a moment where the whole community has to come together in support of

Rodents such as squirrels and beavers are contributing far more to global warming than previously thought, forcing climate scientists to alter the models they use to chart how the world is warming up. Arctic ground squirrels churn up and warm soil in the Tundra, releasing carbon dioxide, while methane released by beavers contributes 200 times more methane than they did 100 years ago, according to scientists from the American Geophysical Union. Faeces and urine produced by rodents are speeding up the release of carbon from the permafrost, the vast store of greenhouses spanning the Arctic Circle, researchers found.

A majority of Americans believe the harsh interrogation practices the Central Intelligence Agency used after the 9/11 terrorist attacks were acceptable under the circumstances, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll. And a plurality say they´d be acceptable to use in the future to thwart potential terrorist threats. In the poll, 51 percent say the interrogation practices used during the Bush Era were acceptable, while 28 percent say they went too far and were wrong. In addition, 45 percent think they should be used in the future, versus 28 percent who disagree. These numbers come after the Democratic-led

The actions show just how much power the attackers behind the Sony hack have amassed in a short time. But who exactly are they? The New York Times reported this evening that North Korea is “centrally involved” in the hack, citing unnamed U.S. intelligence officials. It’s unclear from the Times report what “centrally involved” means and whether the intelligence officials are saying the hackers were state-sponsored or actually agents of the state. The Times also notes that “It is not clear how the United States came to its determination that the North Korean regime played a central role in the

WASHINGTON — Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, a conservative with a maverick streak and a folksy manner, said Tuesday that he is thinking about seeking the Republican presidential nomination. The 22-year congressional veteran, whose highest profile interests include defense, would likely be seen as a long-shot if he launches a candidacy. He made his remarks to reporters the same day that former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said he will explore running for the White House. Graham, 59, has been a close ally of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., the GOP´s unsuccessful presidential candidate in 2008. Last year, Graham was one

Pope Francis and the Vatican were involved in the negotiations with Cuba, according to a senior administration official who briefed reporters on background. “Pope Francis personally issued an appeal thorough a letter that he sent to President Obama and to President Raul Castro, calling on them to resolve the case of Alan Gross and the cases of the three Cubans who have been imprisoned here in the United States and also encouraging the United States and Cuba to pursue a closer relationship,” the official noted. The Vatican also hosted the United States and Cuban delegations to discuss the political exchange of prisoners

Minnesota State Representative Greg Davids is calling for embattled MIT economics professor Jonathan Gruber, the "architect" of Obamacare, to return all $329,000 he was paid by the state of Minnesota as a subcontractor on a 2011 contract to analyze the state´s plan to develop its Obamacare health care exchange, MNSure. (snip) "Those projections were so far off that it has proved absurd," Davids said. "Instead of 500,000 private enrollees by the end of 2015, MNsure has repeatedly lowered Dr. Gruber´s projections and now estimates that fewer than 70,000 will enroll in private plans by the end of next year," Davids
