In an upcoming People magazine interview, Barack and Michelle Obama sit down and discuss life as the First Oppressed Couple of the United States. Hoping to shed light and relate to recent events in Ferguson, Missouri, and New York City, Barack reached into the upstairs White House bedroom of his mind and called upon his famous imaginary son to make an appearance: The small irritations or indignities that we experience are nothing compared to what a previous generation experienced,” President Obama said. “It’s one thing for me to be mistaken for a waiter at a gala. It’s another thing for

Job interviews are an uncomfortable experience for most people. But for people like me who suffer from morbid obesity, they are especially grueling. It’s hard to impress someone when you’re the fat applicant. There’s the added challenge of sustaining an engaging conversation as a potential future employer walks you around the premises, a hike that leaves you winded. After that, you have to squeeze into a tiny chair and present your credentials, maintaining a charming demeanor as the blood circulation to the lower half of your body is cut off. I went through this process over and over again while

More than 250,000 physicians and other health professionals are being notified as early as today that their payments from Medicare and Medicaid will be cut because they aren’t adequately using electronic health records in their practices, the Obama administration confirmed. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, known as CMS, is telling about 257,000 eligible medical care providers who are largely physicians that they will be paid 1 percent less in reimbursement next year from both the Medicare health insurance program for the elderly and the Medicaid insurance program for the poor because they failed to comply with so-called “Meaningful

CNN´s Don Lemon on Thursday insisted that Barack and Michelle Obama are the "closest thing we have to royalty." The anchor was discussing complaints by the First Lady that she had been mistaken for a Target employee during a visit. Lemon lamented, "But speaking to People magazine, according to the Obamas, they´re sometimes treated less than like royals, or the first couple, and more like the help." He began the segment by declaring, "They are America´s first couple, the closest thing that we have to royalty." New York Times columnist Charles Blow quipped, "You´re going to get in so much

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush believes he can “persuade” conservatives to support comprehensive amnesty legislation during a potential 2016 presidential campaign. In the second part of his interview with a local Florida television station this week, Bush was asked about the “immigration issue” and whether he could “get through the primary” with his pro-amnesty positions. Bush replied to NBC 6 in Florida that “a candidate gets to persuade.” “I think there’s a compelling case that, if we want to be young and dynamic again, we have to make legal immigration easier than illegal immigration, that we control our borders, enforce

The White House vowed a “proportional” response Thursday to North Korea’s suspected hacking of Sony Pictures, as lawmakers pledged to beef up the nation’s cybersecurity defenses and blamed the Obama administration for failing to get tough with state-sponsored hackers. Administration officials said President Obama’s national security team is considering a range of options to retaliate against those responsible for the cyberattack on the movie studio, which canceled the release of the $42 million film “The Interview” under threat of Sept. 11-style violence at theaters. But White House aides said the public might never know the extent of the U.S. response,

A screaming match over racism erupted between Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O´Donnell on Thursday´s episode of The View. The show´s co-hosts were discussing the news that Barack Obama was mistaken for a valet. Goldberg dismissed the confusion as one of stupidity, with Americans failing to identify the most important man in the country and the world. But when O´Donnell suggested racism may have been a key factor in the incident, Goldberg became enraged. ´You are a white lady telling me what is racist to you,´ she shouted. O´Donnell hit back in the segment: ´I´m a gay American whose been called

Bill Callaham, a California lawyer, never had a chance to hand over his Rolex, cell phone or hundreds of dollars in cash. The men who attacked him from behind in the Central Business District never made any demands. They beat him unconscious, breaking his nose and his jaw. And afterward, he said, they took nothing. "If somebody had confronted me and asked for money, I would´ve happily given them my money," Callaham said Friday, a week after the assault. "I don´t know if it was random, I mean, I have no idea. I just think it´s a sad state of society

President Obama raised some eyebrows Wednesday when he was overheard saying that he is Jewish in his soul during a Hanukkah celebration at the White House. The revelation was made by David Suissa, of the Jewish Journal, who was invited to the reception at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue attended by about 550 Jewish leaders, journalists and dignitaries, including Gwyneth Paltrow. The president took part in the Menorah-lighting ceremony and delivered a well-received speech about freedom, peppered with light-hearted jokes about Jewish food. The celebration of the Jewish high holy day coincided with the release of Jewish-American Alan Gross from a Cuban

America Urban Radio reporter April Ryan asked President Obama today about the state of black America today compared to before he took office six years ago. Obama said, “Like the rest of America, black America, in the aggregate, is better off now than it was when I came into office.” He brought up America’s “troubled past” while acknowledging it’s “not an excuse for black folks.” But while many African-Americans work hard to provide for their families, “they’re starting behind, oftentimes, in the race.” Obama touted economic progress in the black community and improved education stats among black youths, lamenting how

Since talking about it on Morning Joe earlier today, a few people have asked me to expound on my theory regarding what Jeb Bush would have to do to overcome the many challenges he would face on his way to the Republican nomination. It seems clear that Bush is hell-bent on not pandering to the base, so the obvious challenge he will have to overcome is winning a Republican primary while holding some positions (immigration reform, Common Core, etc.) which are anathema to the grassroots conservatives who will comprise a decent chunk of the primary electorate. The way to overcome this is

Coming to a theater near you: Al Sharpton. Hollywood ?came to the Rev. Al Thursday as embattled Sony exec Amy Pascal met privately with the black leader for 90 minutes in a bid to fix the fallout from the cyberhacking leak of embarrassing, racially charged emails. Pascal agreed to let Sharpton have a say in how Sony makes motion pictures, in an effort to combat what he called “inflexible and immovable racial exclusion in Hollywood.” “We have agreed to having a working group deal with the racial bias and lack of diversity in Hollywood,” said Sharpton. He said Sony would
