Lauren Isackson’s athletic credentials were dwarfed by those of her teammates. She joined the vaunted UCLA women’s soccer program in 2017 alongside members of the U.S. and Canadian national teams—elite athletes accustomed to dominating the high school and club circuits, being the best in their leagues, their states, even their entire home countries. Isackson’s biography on the UCLA roster, meanwhile, lists her as an honorable mention all-league selection in 2014 for the West Bay Athletic League in Northern California. These types have been around a long long time. Mostly they spend their youth watching and reading about others lives and accomplishments and sometimes grow very envious because of their own shortcomings.
I started paying attention in the 70´s because of guys claiming to have spent time in Vietnam. They´re called wannabes. When they start taking advantage of the benefits, people like me can get irate. If you want it you gotta earn it.

This thing has legs for several obvious, and a couple not so much, reasons. There is money, fame, and shame involved as well as the attraction of the easily-mined mother lode: it´s all there in records and
students transcripts.
Good thing BHO came through when he did . . .

Pretty soon we´ll have animated superhero movies called "The Pretenders" rather than "The Incredibles."

If your entire life is just one lie after another, how do you have any kind of life at all? Of course, if you believe that truth is whatever you make up, then perhaps this is "normal." I´d bet money, though, that this kind of lying will eventually lead people to insanity!

Organizers of a Houston Public Library program where drag queens could read stories to children are calling it quits after a drag queen who participated in the program turned out to be a registered child sex offender, sparking widespread outrage. Trent Lira and Devin Will, the founders of Drag Queen Story Time, said they and their “kings and queens” who participated in the program have been the target of harassment and death threats since they first launched at the Freed-Montrose Library in September 2017. But that harassment escalated to dangerous levels, they said, after it was revealed that Albert Alfonso Garza,

The commandant of the Marines has warned the Pentagon that deployments to the southwest border and funding transfers under the president’s emergency declaration, among other unexpected demands, have posed “unacceptable risk to Marine Corps combat readiness and solvency.” In two internal memos, Marine Corps Gen. Robert Neller said the “unplanned/unbudgeted” deployment along the border that President Trump ordered last fall, and shifts of other funds to support border security, had forced him to cancel or reduce planned military training in at least five countries, and delay urgent repairs at bases.(Snip) Neller, a four-star general, said because of the

ICE has had to turn loose more than 100,000 illegal immigrant family members over the past three months, a top official said Thursday, setting them free in border communities as the surge of people coming to the U.S. overwhelms the system. That works out to more than 1,000 family members being cut loose every day, stressing not only Homeland Security but also the charities that are trying to help them, and the local infrastructure—including bus stations—that are trying to help them. The numbers are so high that deportation officers are being taken from other duties such as scouring prisons

A federal judge ruled that the Interior Department violated federal law by failing to take into account the climate impact of its oil and gas leasing in the West. The decision late Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Rudolph Contreras in the District of Columbia marks the first time the Trump administration has been held to account for the climate impact of its energy agenda, and it could have sweeping implications for the president’s plan to boost fossil fuel production across the country. Contreras concluded that Interior’s Bureau of Land Management “did not sufficiently consider climate change” when making decisions to auction

The conversation veered, however, from the New Jersey Democrat’s desire to “love more fearlessly” to Mr. Trump’s “almost repugnant” commentary on social media. “This past weekend, our president tweeted more in a short amount of time than he’s ever tweeted before,” Ms. DeGeneres said Wednesday. “I mean, it was an enormous amount

Richmond, Va. — Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam has again vetoed a bill aimed at preventing so-called “sanctuary cities” in the state. Northam, a Democrat, said he was vetoing the legislation Tuesday because it imposes an unneeded burden on local law enforcement officials and “sends a chilling message.” It was the same statement he issued last year when he vetoed the same legislation. A sanctuary city is a term without legal definition but generally means a locality that limits cooperation with federal immigration enforcement activities. Republicans said the legislation is needed to ensure federal immigration efforts aren’t hampered. The bill narrowly passed

The apparent scoop du jour is that ex-VP Joe Biden is set to announce his bid with his running mate already picked out: former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams. Suggestions for his VP thus far have been a who’s-who of the current field of competition for the nomination, including Harris and O’Rourke. Abrams possibly becoming The Chosen One is somewhat surprising, because her star has only so recently begun its ascendency — but not too surprising, because of her fierce intellect, warm demeanor and popularity.
