Socialist "it girl" Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is no match for President Trump on the popularity front in their mutual home state of New York. According to the Washington Examiner: More registered voters in the state of New York view President Trump favorably than outspoken left-wing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., according to the latest poll numbers from the Siena College Research Institute. While neither politician crossed the 40 favorability percent threshold, Trump had the backing of 36 percent

Looking at the entire country one may deduce that New Yorkers have suffered the shaft longer and deeper from the democrat party than many other states, excluding California, New Jersey, Illinois and Michigan. I would imagine that even the GOP would seem like a breath of fresh air to them.

As the caravans keep rolling in, and Congress does its darndest to prevent the construction of a border wall, journalists who follow the money can find some striking news. The Washington Examiner´s Paul Bedard has a good one on U.S. remittances to the three Central American countries whose nationals are leading the surge across our unguarded southern border. He writes: Immigrants from the three Central American nation’s sourcing many illegal border crossers sent a record amount of money home last year, bringing the total this decade to $120 billion.

On March 13, California governor Gavin Newsom signed an executive order granting a reprieve to all 737 convicted murderers awaiting execution in the Golden State. The death penalty, Newsom said, has discriminated against mentally ill defendants and people of color. The San Francisco Democrat also contended that the death penalty has not made the state safer and has wasted billions of dollars. Gov. Newsom also cited the possibility that an innocent person could be sentenced to death, and that gives Californians something to ponder. All 737 reprieved death-row inmates had been found guilty of

Back in the 1940s, Robert A. Heinlein, the "Dean of American science fiction writers," put together an outline of American history for the next two hundred years. It was basically a framework on which to hang a number of related short stories and novels utilizing the same background. This "Future History" series, after being completed, was published in a single volume a quarter-century later as The Past through Tomorrow. A number of commentators, beginning with the critic Algis Budrys, have noted some remarkable congruences with actual events. From the vantage point of 1940, Heinlein predicted

Yansnier Arias knew it was wrong. It violated the Constitution, not to mention the oath he took as a doctor in Cuba. He had been sent to Venezuela by the Cuban government, one of thousands of doctors deployed to shore up ties between the two allies and alleviate Venezuela’s collapsing medical system. But with President Nicolás Maduro’s re-election on the line, not everyone was allowed to be treated, Dr. Arias said. A 65-year-old patient with heart failure entered his clinic — and urgently needed oxygen, he said. The tanks sat in another room at the ready, he recalled.

Some 50-plus illegal immigrants traveling in family units slipped through one of the openings in the junk fences delineating the U.S.-Mexico border in San Diego, and then, in two groups, ran in procession to the U.S. Border Patrol vehicle waiting for them on the beach at Imperial Beach to promptly claim asylum.
