Sorry, Sandy, Capitalism
Needs No Redemption

American Thinker, by William Sullivan

Addressing an audience at Austin’s South by Southwest conference, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called capitalism an “irredeemable system.” “Capitalism is the ideology of capital,” she says. “The most important thing is the concentration of capital and to seek and maximize profit.” (snip) In fact, it would be incredibly easy to argue, as a recent Vox article does, that nearly every advancement in human well-being has taken place in the short blip of human history since the Industrial Revolution. That article miraculously neglects to mention free markets

The astounding wealth of a few in free markets is a head fake to take our eye off of how the least well off are in a free market society.

So Ms. Ocasio Cortez, are you willing to make the lives of the least well off worse just to see the wealthy do worse? Do the poor want to be poorer and stay poor losing the opportunity to not be poor just to see the wealthy taken down a peg? That´s what you´re selling, you may not have the capacity to grasp that but that´s what you are espousing.

She´s been awful quiet lately (since SXSW) so I think her owners may have told her to SHUT UP.

Socialism is a cancer-it always afflicts more prosperous systems in the guise of improvement but eventually kills the host. Every single time. If the Soviet Union couldn´t make it work-and they tried!- then no one will.

AOC´s handlers think they can cobble together a majority to make America Socialist.

The ones who will collapse their dreams are not the wealthy, but the middle class, who would be the first to lose everything under Socialist rule.

I once conducted a personal interview with Capitalism. He was a very pleasant fellow. He was optimistic about the future and had a great sense of humor. He wanted everyone to be allowed, without coercion, to be their best and to be rewarded for their hard work, creativity, and ingenuity. He believed that there needed to be an incentive for taking risks. He also believed that even those who were risk-averse would still have access to better jobs, prosperity, and financial security. He claimed that even the laziest among us would still enjoy an abundant supply of products and services at unbelievably low prices. He was self-deprecating about his few faults, had a disarming laugh, and a "live and let live" philosophy toward life. Above all, I didn´t detect the slightest hint of the jealousy, bitterness, and desire to manipulate and control that was so evident in another guy I had interviewed previously. When I later learned that the other guy had become a serial killer of both lives and dreams, I remember not being at all surprised. And way too many people continued to fall for his empty promises and refused to hold him accountable, so misery and death followed him wherever he went.

Thankfully, it was just the opposite with Capitalism. From our original interview and our numerous interactions since, we´ve become lifelong friends. His reputation has been unfairly tarnished by those who consistently seek his demise for their own nefarious reasons, but I know him well; and I hope he lives forever and is treated like royalty wherever he goes.

Sandy, the Ignorant Oaf Barmaid, imagines that she is important and that her foolish blatherings are wisdom.

Capitalism is just fine, but the Marxists have been pushing their lies in our colleges for far too long, filling empty heads with false ideas.

The Founders built America on the foundation of individual liberty! That concept was foreign to the world before Christ came to earth and freed all of us from our sins and the Law!! Now history is being rewritten by atheistic marxists who worship at the alter of shared suffering for the good of the state which is the Supreme ideal in their world. They are, I fear, too far gone to bring back. At a certain point the Lord will harden a person´s heart to himself and they are lost forever. I pray for the souls of these lost people! God must move them to open their minds to him and then communism will not be loved like it is today by the left!

Don Blankenship, the former CEO of Massey Energy and GOP candidate for West Virginia’s U.S. Senate seat last year, filed a massive defamation lawsuit against several mainstream media outlets this past Friday. In the lawsuit, Blankenship alleges that these news organizations (among them CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, and even Breitbart) knowingly and willfully misreported him as a felon instead of a misdemeanant. Blankenship, a former CEO of Massey Energy, was acquitted on three felonies but convicted of a misdemeanor for conspiring to violate safety regulations, after a deadly 2010 mining disaster.

Under capitalism, ownership brings control, and Fox News has a new corporate parent that began trading yesterday on NASDAQ. There are reasons for conservatives to be deeply concerned. (snip) Coincidentally or not, this change in ownership coincides with the reported two week suspension of Judge Jeanine Pirro’s Saturday night ratings champion show, following her questioning of Rep. Ilhan Omar’s adherence to sharia, because she donned a hijab post-9/11. President Trump’s tweeted support for her and expressed worries about his supporters at Fox being silenced.

Angela Merkel apparently went behind NATO´s back to make a deal with Russia for the natural gas pipeline Nord Stream II, paying for which will drive Germany´s contribution to NATO defense spending below the 2% of GDP that was agreed on in 2014. Germany, with one of the world´s wealthiest economies, is far in arrears on her NATO obligations, has been for years, and has no acceptable excuse for it. America has been open for years now to selling liquid natural gas (LNG) to Europe at rates below those the Russians can provide

The $1.1 billion spent to repair Oroville Dam is failing as water is seeping through the rebuilt spillway threatens new mass evacuations over the risk of the dam collapsing. According to national dam expert Scott Cahill of Watershed Services of Ohio, Oroville Dam is on the same failure track as in 2017, with visible water seepage trickling from the foot of the dam and dozens of points along the dam’s principal spillway. Cahill warns that warming temperatures magnified by precipitation is a growing threat to the dam.

Fox´s newest fan is a Jew-hating member of Congress. Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is extremely grateful that Fox defended her and punished Judge Jeanine Pirro for asking a legitimate question. On Saturday, Fox suddenly cancelled Pirro´s highly rated weekly show "Justice with Judge Jeanine.” (snip) The funny thing is the judge´s logical examination of the origin of Omar´s anti-Semitic statements was neither bigoted, nor false, nor inciteful. She did this after she was asked by moderator Jake Tapper what role faith plays in her life. Former interim Democratic National Committee chair Donna Brazile was full of posthumous praise for the late Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) on Wednesday’s edition of Fox News’ Special Report with Bret Baier. The context was President Trump’s renewed criticism of McCain after a newly-released deposition showed how deeply McCain was involved in the fraudulent “Russia dossier” that has been used to attack the administration and divide the nation. The battle over the admissions standards at New York City’s elite public high schools has heated up again. After having failed to change the standards last year, Mayor Bill de Blasio is back at it, this time with some backup from celebrity freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. As usual, their impassioned pleas about the lack of black and Hispanic students completely ignores that it is Asian, not white, students who would bear the brunt of the proposed changes. At issue is the fact that these hyper-competitive high schools consider only a test score in deciding admissions

A federal judge ruled that the Interior Department violated federal law by failing to take into account the climate impact of its oil and gas leasing in the West. The decision late Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Rudolph Contreras in the District of Columbia marks the first time the Trump administration has been held to account for the climate impact of its energy agenda, and it could have sweeping implications for the president’s plan to boost fossil fuel production across the country. Contreras concluded that Interior’s Bureau of Land Management “did not sufficiently consider climate change” when making decisions to auction
