St. Patrick sparked a fire
Church Militant, by Fr. George Rutler

Original Article

Posted By:Dovestar, 3/17/2019 3:06:43 PM

The holy patron of our archdiocese was a contemporary of St. Augustine. While Augustine of north Africa became one of the greatest Doctors of the church, Patrick of Roman Britain humbly called himself uneducated, even though he was schooled in France by St. Germaine of Auxerre and possibly St. Martin of Tours, and was given books by Pope St. Celestine I.

Tell it to the pedophiles. Rid your church of these teachers of young children and I´ll be interested in discussing theology with you. Until such time P**s off.

A rare piece that I think was too short. Rutler could have gone on and on about this interesting topic and I would have read every word.

Interesting piece, thanks for posting.

St Patrick also "invented" green beer and corned beef

Personally, I make it my business to wear orange on this day .

Thank you for this special post. I was schooled by the Irish Sisters of Charity and St. Patrick´s Day was a school holiday for us. Every year my Dad would spend the day with my sisters and me, spinning tales of our Irish relatives. His mother was Irish, as she would say, "lace curtain Irish."

St. Patrick´s Breastplate is one of my favorite prayers:

Christ be with me, Christ before me, Christ be after me, Christ be within me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ at my right hand, Christ at my left, Christ in the fort, Christ in the chariot, Christ in the ship, Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of every man who speaks to me. Christ in every eye that sees me. Christ in every ear that hears me.

St. Patrick pray for us.

#1. I note your sense of justice and proportion leads you to attack a holy, learned, straight Catholic priest on the basis of nothing whatsoever.

Get your head on straight and do the right thing. Thank you.

Florida, with its plentiful beaches, warm weather, and lack of a state income tax, is the most popular destination for older adults in the U.S. But some who have lived in the Sunshine State for years are moving in the opposite direction. As damaging storms and other effects of climate change have hit Florida particularly hard in the past few years, some older adults living there have become concerned about their safety and their ability to enjoy retirement. So they’re fleeing this otherwise balmy state. About 52,630 people ages 65 and over left Florida in 2017, versus 48,174 in

If you love Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and want to help the ACLU, you can raise a glass of Sam Adams. Boston Beer Co. will release next week “When There Are Nine,” a Belgian Brut IPA dedicated to the jurist and liberal rock star, according to a Thursday report in the Boston Globe. The title is “inspired by her famous response to the question ‘When will there be enough women on the Supreme Court?’” the company wrote at an Eventbrite page announcing the launch.(Snip) According to the Globe, the Ginsburg-inspired beer is a “pink boots release,” an annual nonprofit

The San Antonio City Council banned Chick-fil-A from San Antonio International Airport over “anti-LGBTQ behavior” as part of a new concession plan for the airport. District 1 City Councilman Roberto Treviño motioned to approve the Food, Beverage and Retail Prime Concession Agreement with Paradies Lagardère for the airport Thursday on condition Chick-fil-A be excluded from the agreement. Treviño asserted Chick-fil-A has a “legacy of anti-LGBTQ behavior” and that such a business had no place in the city’s airport. (Snip) the restaurant would have liked to have had a dialogue with it prior to the decision.

Barbra Streisand is under fire for comments she made about two men accusing Michael Jackson of sexually assaulting them as children. The legendary singer and actress said that Wade Robson and James Safechuck — whose allegations against the late King of Pop resurfaced in the recent documentary “Leaving Neverland" — “were thrilled to be there” and that what allegedly happened to them “didn’t kill them." Streisand, 76, made the strange comments to British newspaper The Times in a piece out Friday, in which she also said that Jackson’s “sexual needs were his sexual needs.”

Even though we do not yet know exactly what the Mueller Report says, we do now know that no other indictments are in the works. No collusion with Russia by the Trump campaign was found. So, the self-assured and confident predictions by so many on the left that they had seen "cold, hard evidence," and that Mueller would find copious evidence of "collusion" with Russia, was just wishful thinking alone. They all had to know the infamous "dossier" was faked.

The apparent scoop du jour is that ex-VP Joe Biden is set to announce his bid with his running mate already picked out: former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams. Suggestions for his VP thus far have been a who’s-who of the current field of competition for the nomination, including Harris and O’Rourke. Abrams possibly becoming The Chosen One is somewhat surprising, because her star has only so recently begun its ascendency — but not too surprising, because of her fierce intellect, warm demeanor and popularity. Stacey Abrams exudes good sense and kindness, delivered with impeccable poise: that’s the impression most

The Washington National Cathedral disputed President Trump´s claim that he had to "approve" the funeral of the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.). "Washington National Cathedral was honored to host the funeral service for Senator John McCain. All funerals and memorial services at the Cathedral are organized by the family of the deceased; only a state funeral for a former president involves consultation with government officials," a cathedral spokesperson said in a statement to The Hill on Thursday. "No funeral at the Cathedral requires the approval of the president or any other government official," he added.

A few months ago, Colton Haas and I traveled to the once beautiful city of San Francisco, hoping to have a question answered: What happened to San Francisco? (Video) Erica Sandberg, a community advocate and journalist, broke it down for us: "Right now the major issue — people always call it homelessness — but the major issue is drugs." While San Francisco has always battled homelessness and currently has about 7,000 homeless people, the drug issue is exacerbating the problem. The city currently hands out more than 400,000 syringes each month but only 246,000 are returned, leaving 154,000 syringes left

This spelling and grammar test from the 1980s is so difficult that it is claimed no one can get more than 50 per cent of the answers right. The 20-question quiz promises to leave even the brightest brains scratching their heads. Indeed it is so tricky that its creator, Playbuzz user Terry Stein, claims players will ´never´ be able to score more than 10 out of 20. So if you think you have what it takes then scroll down to take the test in full. But the answers are at the bottom - so no cheating...

Hours after New Zealand announced prohibitions against semiautomatic rifles and shotguns, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) tweeted the U.S. needs to follow the gun ban example. Feinstein tweeted: “In country after country, massacres are followed by sweeping changes to gun laws, as logic would dictate. The United States needs to follow these examples and take action to protect Americans from this deadly public health scourge.” She attached a statement to her tweet wherein she noted: Here at home in America, since the 1999 shooting at Columbine High School, we’ve suffered through at least 227 school shootings that killed 143 and left

What’s in a name? Everything for Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The New York Democrat blasted Fox News host Laura Ingraham and her guest for mocking how she pronounced her name and saying she does so because it’s a “Latina thing.” “If by ‘the Latina thing,’ she means I actually do the work instead of just talk about it, then yeah, I’m doing ‘the Latina thing,’” she wrote on her Twitter page late Wednesday. “Unless of course she‘s talking about being multilingual, which we know isn’t a ‘Latina thing.’ It’s a ‘21st century’ thing.” Ocasio-Cortez also said that Fox News’

First of all, of course everyone should wait to see the contents of the actual Mueller report before drawing any specific final conclusions about it. But here are some laws of nature in the modern age: If that report contained a fraction of the damaging material breathlessly awaited in the media culture for two years, there would be some smoke signal of it. Instead, we saw an actual finding from the Justice Department that there would be no further indictments from the probe. No indictment of Trump. No indictment of anyone associated with the campaign or the administration to support
