Proposed University of Minnesota
policy limits pets

Associated Press, by Staff

Original Article

Most pets would be prohibited from University of Minnesota buildings under a proposed policy that school officials hope will help ensure the comfort of all students and employees on campus. Service animals for those with disabilities would still be permitted, but emotional-support animals would be banned from classrooms, labs and offices, Minnesota Daily reported. Animals can cause a disturbance if they bark, lunge or go to the bathroom on campus, said University Services Chief of Staff Paige Rohman. Animals are also problematic for people with allergies or those of the Muslim faith who view dog saliva as unclean, he said.

O.K. Enough already with the pet thing. It has become out of control. We were given dominion over the animal kingdom but some individuals feel dogs and cats need be raised to human level. I love my dog and would do most anything for him, but I am not handcuffed to immobility if he´s not around. Emotional pets, as some describe, is nuts. Especially on commercial flights. Now they want to bring on a horse?! Hopefully and soon we can get on to the more pressing matters that truly affect our lives.

The very concept of "emotional support animals" outside a mental health facility is outrageously stupid. It is a license to just drag your pet around with you, inconveniencing others and subjecting them to YOUR pet´s noises, smells, dander and hair.

I love animals but I keep mine to myself and others should do likewise unless invited to bring them.

Agree with the concept that we should not have to all deal with emotional support pets. Actual service dogs are highly trained and intelligent. Your mutt from the pound is likely not but is still love loved. A woman’s emotional support pit bull recently viciously bit a child’s face. This is, however, pandering to Muslims again. If this was a Christian belief it would be scorned and ignored.

I was shocked at the acceptance of pets (not legitimate service animals) in dorm rooms. And shocked that students these days can paint their rooms (we couldn´t even use nails) and create attached lofts out of lumber.

The pets shouldn´t be allowed in dorms. The smell and damage must be horrendous. Pets in classrooms? Downright silly.

But OP hit the nail on the head (bad pun). Whatever Muslims object to gets thrown out. One more tail wagging the dog (worse pun).

Will she or won´t she? That´s the question swirling around Democratic Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar as she considers a run for president. "I think the odds of her getting in are better than 50-50," former Minnesota DFL Party Chairman Brian Melendez said. "She´s been the most popular politician in this state for more than a decade, and it´s hard to have numbers like that and not see a president when you look in the mirror." Klobuchar recently told the StarTribune newspaper she´s "close" to making a decision and feels some urgency with other candidates like Sen. Elizabeth Warren forming exploratory committees.

Florida, with its plentiful beaches, warm weather, and lack of a state income tax, is the most popular destination for older adults in the U.S. But some who have lived in the Sunshine State for years are moving in the opposite direction. As damaging storms and other effects of climate change have hit Florida particularly hard in the past few years, some older adults living there have become concerned about their safety and their ability to enjoy retirement. This spelling and grammar test from the 1980s is so difficult that it is claimed no one can get more than 50 per cent of the answers right. The 20-question quiz promises to leave even the brightest brains scratching their heads. Indeed it is so tricky that its creator, Playbuzz user Terry Stein, claims players will ´never´ be able to score more than 10 out of 20. So if you think you have what it takes then scroll down to take the test in full. But the answers are at the bottom - so no cheating...

Even though we do not yet know exactly what the Mueller Report says, we do now know that no other indictments are in the works. No collusion with Russia by the Trump campaign was found. So, the self-assured and confident predictions by so many on the left that they had seen "cold, hard evidence," and that Mueller would find copious evidence of "collusion" with Russia, was just wishful thinking alone. They all had to know the infamous "dossier" was faked.

First of all, of course everyone should wait to see the contents of the actual Mueller report before drawing any specific final conclusions about it. But here are some laws of nature in the modern age: If that report contained a fraction of the damaging material breathlessly awaited in the media culture for two years, there would be some smoke signal of it. Instead, we saw an actual finding from the Justice Department that there would be no further indictments from the probe. No indictment of Trump. No indictment of anyone associated with the campaign or the administration to support
