The Democratic Crackup
Wall Street Journal, by Kimberley A. Strassel

Original Article

Posted By:StormCnter, 3/8/2019 5:10:06 AM

Americans love a good political brawl, and that’s terrible news for Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Her Democratic Party has commenced a full throw-down—with itself. Few things have benefited Democrats more in the past few years than the Donald Trump show. The president likes to be the center of attention, and the media likes nothing more than to oblige him. This dynamic helped make the 2018 election a referendum on the man himself rather than his policies, and that made Mrs. Pelosi speaker of the House. Democrats envisioned the same dynamic helping them win the White House in 2020.

"how huge and fundamental the fissures are becoming in the Democratic Party"

Grand Canyon sized fissures. All these progressive groups and individuals are of the dems own making. The dems have been busy stirring up grievances and anger for decades, yet avoiding doing anything to address it. They won elections by keeping the pot boiling; why would they want to want to fix things?

"What nobody is admitting is that no Democratic politician has yet to articulate a strategy for catering to both. Because it is impossible."

Well, dems propose impossible stuff all the time and their media supports them. How about, "We are morally superior and we support the killing of children for the cause of Women´s Rights."? What kind of "moral" women need to build their "rights" on the bodies of slaughtered babies? They have recently expanded those rights to do this a moment before birth.

So, impossible statements work for the dems.

What doesn´t work is the roiling, uncontrollable anger and hatred that have fomented violence and one sided, uncompromising non thinking. The dems created the Frankenstein´s monster, several variants of the monster actually, and now they have turned on them. Spoiler alert: The monster kills its creator.

The Democrat party is in complete disarray with the advent of the new speaker AOC, she has Pelosi looking like a scared rat. AOC and the other new radicals have made the party look absolutely insane with the earth ending in 12 years, no more cheeseburgers, planes, cars, etc. Teaching Kindergartners the joys of being a tranny, killing babies after they are born. I say bring on more, it will ensure Trump another landslide, and probably win back the house. Hooray AOC!!!

This had been a slow motion trainwreck for several years until this election cycle. Thevtrain has gone completely off the rails. The media has for several years downplayed democrat infighting and concentrated on republican infighting. Republican infighting has largely been over stategery and finding a backbone. Democrat infighting has been exactly as stated in the article.

I donr see how the democrat party survives in its current form. Either way, one side or the other will find it impossible to continue with a D after their name.

The Dems are DINOS...Democrats in name only.
They are slowly disintegrating before our eyes. Not a smidgen of substance there and no leadership. Basically, they´ve hit rock bottom. The Freshman class and Pelosi reminds me of a mother in the grocery store who lets her kids run wild.
A feeling of total chaos is apparent and the media are all sucked into their vortex. What a mess!

FTA: ´House Speaker Nancy Pelosi speaks´...incoherently.

In past years she would be the target of every comedian and impressionist. This is someone whose mind is obviously and continuously eroding. The singsong, patronizing tone of voice is a cover for the vacancy of her thoughts. Most of her ´answers´ are declaratives invoking magical thinking.

I´m still laughing at her claim that Occupy Wall Street ´will be spontaneous and effective.´

If it´s spontaneous how did she know about it in advance? And how did she know it would be effective or not before the effects were on display?

Poster No. 11 reminds me of a commercial ad on television here in Illinois. The message was "buzzed driving IS drunk driving."

The ad depicted someone who was only "buzzed" from drinks with friends out on the town who then decided to drive his car. When he was stopped by police, he was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI).

The so-called moderate Dems are going to find themselves in the same political calaboose as the radical Dems. There is no "buzzed driving" in the Democrat Party. You are either with the anti-American socialists or not.

The moderate Dems need to make up their minds: Democrat or American, which is it going to be?

#8 David Duke did a clever thing siding with Omar. Duke just hung the KKK around the democrats necks.
Long ago Pelosi´s brains leaked out of her ears and I knew the face of the ´new democrat party´ like AOC would out last her. This week and previous weeks just proved the direction of the left. The nation is now clear cut down the middle with socialism on one side and conservative capitalism on the other side.

I think Ryan is getting too much credit for giving the House to Nancy.

I blame the huge number of retiring GOP Reps, that opened too many seats up for the taking.

Ryan was one, to be sure.

But those retirees were largely anti-Trump establishment GOP that were pushing against Trump anyway.

But the lesson to us all is how insane the NeverTrump conservatives truly are, that they would consider handing our Republic to these Democrats, rather than work to save this country with DJT at the helm.

The only people I do know who like to vote Dem fall into three categories: aged & still clueless feel-good hippies, younger people who aren´t too bright generally and think they can solve the world´s problems eating vegetables and using cloth bags and other people who just have never been happy in their own lives --- ever --- and bitterly want to share their misery out of jealousy.

Yes, Democrats might be cracking up. How nice. And it might actually mean something if the Republicans could capitalize on the Democrats´ instability. But they can´t or won´t.

Imagine for a moment, a Republican party comprised of people with Trump´s energy and backbone? Leaders capable of putting forth conservative principles and ideas with confidence would easily demolish a cracking up Democrat party. Instead we continue to have pathetic loser "leaders" like McCarthy and the Turtle who are too afraid to come out of their bunkers.

Trump continues on his lone mission of Making America Great again. Thank God he has the grit and gumption that he does.

It began this summer, when we slept with our windows open. The first time it happened, I awoke in the middle of the night not knowing what I’d heard. It sounded like loony laughter from a dozen different souls, some of them clapping weird noisemakers, before their demented hilarity abruptly ceased. Moonlight streamed into the room. The Catahoula at the foot of the bed listened too, eyes shining and ears pricked. The train’s horn blew from the tracks a mile away, a winsome four-blast call: “I’m here; I’m here; here, I’m here.”

In psychology circles, there’s an unofficial concept called “the Martha Mitchell effect.” It’s the tendency to diagnose someone as mentally ill simply because the story they tell is so bizarre, without checking whether the bizarre story is in fact true. That’s what happened to Martha Mitchell, the outspoken wife of President Richard M. Nixon’s attorney general, John Mitchell. She was dismissed as “crazy” for her wild claims about the Nixon administration and issued a public ultimatum to her husband to choose her or the president. This week, another marital spat gripped Washington as President Trump tweeted insults about George Conway,

Human nature being what it is, many candidates run for office the same way they did the last time. Take the 15th Democratic presidential candidate, former Rep. Robert Francis O’Rourke. When Mr. O’Rourke ran for the U.S. Senate in Texas in 2018, he was an energetic, charismatic campaigner who visited all 254 counties in the state. He gave inspirational speeches to Democrats, heavy on appeals for unity and optimism but generally devoid of substance. He relied on breathlessly positive press coverage while adroitly using social media to establish a personal channel to supporters. He raised $80 million,

Ms. Omar is a naturalized citizen whose Somali refugee family settled in the U.S. when she was a teenager. Tens of thousands of Somali refugees relocated to the U.S.—some 25,000 in the Minneapolis area—to escape the starvation, famine and civil war that turned Somalia into a lawless, failed state in the early 1990s. It has long been a mystery how, exactly, the Devils River got its name—and what, exactly, happened to the apostrophe. But the leading theory will ring true to anyone who has attempted to navigate it. Though early Spanish explorers named the river after Saint Peter, it’s said that the settlers who followed in their footsteps regarded the waterway and its surrounding terrain as so forbidding that they thought it could have been carved by Lucifer himself. And so the gatekeeper to heaven gave way to the ruler of hell. Given that grim reputation, that off-putting name, and the river’s remote

Talk of socialism is suddenly everywhere. The journey from a free society to socialism, however, does not occur overnight. It’s a stepped process that begins slowly and ends with a rush. Here are those steps: Step 1. Massive Government Spending. Socialist states have government at the center of their economies and feature enormous spending programs. In early 1990s Sweden often cited as a socialist state, government spending exceeded 70 percent of its economy. Under President Jefferson, government spending was approximately 2 to 3 percent of the economy. Today, we are at 36 percent. Sweden, now walking away from socialism,
