It´s not about collusion; it´s about
obstruction ... and impeachment

The Hill, by Andrew C. McCarthy

“There was no collusion!” As President Trump demonstrated in his feature-lengthCPAC speech, he is that rare combination of bottomless energy, canny comic timing, disregard for norms, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.(Snip) I do not expect collusion to be the highlight ofMueller’s report.Collusion was just the rationale for conducting an investigation for which there was no criminal predicate. I expect Mueller to file a report that highlights obstructive conduct, though probably not one that calls for an obstruction indictment. That, as I said back inDecember 2017, would throw the ball into Congress’s court for consideration of impeachment.

Andy always has an analysis that the President cannot defend himself, can´t talk, must allow himself to be dragged down Pennsylvania Avenue and hanged, and without protest. Thanks Andy, really appreciate all your input.

If President Trump is to be charged with obstruction of justice, then it has to be for his failure to prosecute anyone within the Obama Administration for numerous felonies, from national security violations to repeated instances of bribery. For Trump’s DoJ to ignore the incredible evidence of crimes committed at the direction of Obama and Hillary, whether by the IRS, the FBI or the DoJ, can only be called obstruction of justice.

Unfortunately, PDT will be tarnished by Mueller for the wrong obstruction, that of firing Comey, who clearly deserved firing, rather than for not prosecuting Obama and Hillary. To Mueller and his goons, it’s politics first, justice last.

FTA: "Impeachment... Unlike a prosecutor, Congress does not need a penal offense to take action; impeachment is a political process ...driven by misconduct that Congress concludes is an abuse of power, even if it does not constitute an offense of the criminal code."

Finally someone says it. Anything the House will pass is enough offense to force the Senate to hold a trial. The only question is whether the Hose will pass a Bill of Impeachment...and when. I suspect it will produce such a bill allowing Nadler and Pelosi to wave it as a threat...and to allow Mitch to tell PDT he´s not sure he has the votes to save him.

This is about making Trump politically radioactive for 2020, not removing him from office. It´s about draining him politically and financially - the government does not pay for his defense in an impeachment proceeding. It´s about embarrassing his family, giving him another big reason not to run for re-election. Conviction is not the goal.

This was the reason why the GOPe did not vigorously defend its House majority. It´s the reason Ryan stayed before he "retired". It may be the reason for the malfeasance of GOPe-majority House committees investigating the FBI and the Intel Community, including the FISA courts.

This is the big leagues, folks. The Swamp isn´t fooling around anymore. This is an "added insurance policy" purchased when the first tiers of resistance failed.

Mueller just filed Russia report.
Here´s what Barr should do with it

All we know at this point is that Special Counsel Robert Mueller delivered his report on Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election to Attorney General William Barr on Friday. What we don’t know is how the attorney general will handle the report. Barr has several options. The fairest would be to immediately turn the report over to President Trump’s legal team and give them a week to write a response. Barr could then issue both reports simultaneously so that the American public could judge the comparative merits of both sides of this adversarial process.

A lawyer representing former Trump attorney Michael Cohen said Wednesday that Cohen directed a lawyer last year to inquire about possibly receiving a pardon from President Trump. During President Trump’s State of the Union address earlier this month, Americans saw Democratic politicians for what they have truly become. People were shocked when the majority of the Democratic caucus, including most of the party’s women all dressed in white, couldn’t find it in their hearts to applaud when the president called for “a culture that cherishes innocent life.” We now know that wasn’t just a bad night for the Democrats, it was a genuine reflection of the craven ghoulishness underlying their attitudes and policy.

Even though we do not yet know exactly what the Mueller Report says, we do now know that no other indictments are in the works. No collusion with Russia by the Trump campaign was found. So, the self-assured and confident predictions by so many on the left that they had seen "cold, hard evidence," and that Mueller would find copious evidence of "collusion" with Russia, was just wishful thinking alone. They all had to know the infamous "dossier" was faked.

First of all, of course everyone should wait to see the contents of the actual Mueller report before drawing any specific final conclusions about it. But here are some laws of nature in the modern age: If that report contained a fraction of the damaging material breathlessly awaited in the media culture for two years, there would be some smoke signal of it. Instead, we saw an actual finding from the Justice Department that there would be no further indictments from the probe. No indictment of Trump.
