On January 29, 2019, Chicago Police opened a hate crime investigation into the alleged assault of Empire actor Jussie Smollett. Smollett, who is black and gay, alleged that two men approached him at 2 a.m. in Chicago, where they shouted “f*****” and “n*****,” tried to wrap a noose around his neck, and poured bleach on him. He also told TMZ that the men shouted, “This is MAGA country.”(Snip)That same night, a Jewish man in New York was beaten by three thugs. Nothing was stolen. The attack was caught on video.

As an outwardly-obvious Jewish man and former resident of NYC, I assure you that 80% of the attacks on Jewish people are from blacks and 20% of the attacks on Jewish people are from non-black Muslims -- with the blacks being split 1/3 secular 1/3 muslim and 1/3 Black Hebrew Israelite (the instigators in that weird situation in Washington DC with the Catholic kids).

Journalism Dies in Self-Importance

I suppose it’s true that “Democracy Dies in Darkness,” as the Washington Post’s slogan says. But journalism may also die, by morphing into forms that can no longer be described as journalism. Journalism may come to mean a crooked scandal sheet, or high-minded propaganda. Sometimes squalor and self-righteousness are equally disreputable. The Post’s apothegm, somehow off-kilter, with its alliteration and self-importance, was a purposeful bit of branding, designed to claim high ground and to poke a thumb in President Trump’s eye every morning. Such partisan intent detracts from the slogan’s claim to universality. The self-serving implication—the notion that,

No amount of psychological pressure, Groupthink, political or academic intimidation should persuade anyone that the world will end in twelve years or that the environmental steps we take these next twelve years will determine earth’s fate. These are utter falsehoods, the Left’s “alternative facts.” Real Fact: The “science” on climate is not “settled.” Demagogues declare otherwise to silence open debate. Demagogues and fools. Last week, the president of the Chicago police union asked the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate whether Cook County State´s Attorney Kim Foxx interfered in the police investigation of Empire star Jussie Smollett. Further reporting suggested Foxx may have interfered after receiving a text from Tina Tchen, former chief of staff for former first lady Michelle Obama. Mueller wraps up — but don’t

Special Counsel Bob Mueller has handed in his report, marking the effective end of the three-year Trump-Russia investigation. Hallelujah! This means that Mueller firmly expects to file no more criminal charges, which pretty much confirms that all the media and political hysteria about his investigation was driven more by partisan wishful thinking than by anything resembling hard evidence. And that hysteria used up far too much time and attention in a nation with plenty of real issues to worry about. Yes, as much as possible of Mueller’s report should be released to the public,

Barbra Streisand is under fire for comments she made about two men accusing Michael Jackson of sexually assaulting them as children. The legendary singer and actress said that Wade Robson and James Safechuck — whose allegations against the late King of Pop resurfaced in the recent documentary “Leaving Neverland" — “were thrilled to be there” and that what allegedly happened to them “didn’t kill them." Streisand, 76, made the strange comments to British newspaper The Times in a piece out Friday, in which she also said that Jackson’s “sexual needs were his sexual needs.”

Special counsel Robert Mueller has submitted his report on Russian meddling in the US election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign to Attorney General William Barr, the Justice Department said Friday. Justice notified Congress late Friday that it had received Mueller’s report but did not disclose any of its conclusions. “I am reviewing the [Mueller] report and I anticipate that I may be in a position to advise you of the Special Counsel’s principal conclusion as soon as this weekend,” Barr told Congress. President Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani and Jay Sekulow issued a joint statement.

The Supreme Court will likely

A constant refrain we now hear is that President Trump’s order to finance the wall is “unconstitutional” and “violates the separation of powers.” That is not the case. Richard H. Pildes, a professor of constitutional law at New York University, wrote on March 14 the clarifying article, “How the Supreme Court Weakened Congress on Emergency Declarations.” Here are his salient points: Trump’s declaration of a national emergency to build the wall derives from that singular authority in the National Emergencies Act (NEA), passed by Congress in l976. Since then, presidents have resorted to the NEA 58 times.

Ilhan Omar has refused to answer substantive questions regarding her marriage to husband number 2, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi. I think is fair to infer that Elmi is her brother and that she entered the marriage for some dishonest purpose. If so, the dishonest purpose would likely have something to do with student aid while she and Elmi went to college in Fargo at North Dakota State University. If Omar is not Elmi’s sibling, the marriage nevertheless appears to involve some serious dishonesty she has concealed. I originally raised the question regarding Omar’s marriage to Elmi in 2016.

Walking to lunch past the center’s Maya Lin–designed memorial to civil-rights martyrs, we’d cast a glance at the inscription from Martin Luther King, Jr., etched into the black marble—“Until justice rolls down like waters”—and intone, in our deepest voices, “Until justice rolls down like dollars.” The Law Center had a way of turning idealists into cynics; like most liberals,

Abrams possibly becoming The Chosen One is somewhat surprising, because her star has only so recently begun its ascendency — but not too surprising, because of her fierce intellect, warm demeanor and popularity.
