Questions for Those Who
Believed Jussie Smollett

National Review Online, by Kyle Smith

The “we reported the Jussie Smollett case responsibly” contention has been blasted to smithereens. Twitter accounts and headlines in the Washington Post, the New York Times, and the Los Angeles Times reported as fact Jussie Smollett’s wildly implausible allegations, and many other journalists did so as well, not to mention the innumerable activists and celebrities who piled on. So, a question for all of the above. Why did you believe Jussie Smollett? Let’s try to catalogue the red flags. Had you ever heard of Jussie Smollett before the alleged January 29 attack? Do you think it likely

By nature, liberals are fools. Only fools believed his story without hesitation. Because it was designed to make Trump and his voters look bad, every fool, in politics and the media, did the classic dogpile, only to wind up with something brown on his/her face.

´If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.´

Some of us learn that lesson early.

Most of the media never do.

The reason the media reported this hoax so breathlessly and without any critical scrutiny is because it fulfills and exceeds the quota of necessary tropes.

A black, gay man is attacked.
He is a Trump "resistor".
He is well-known to the millennial group who would sympathize with him.
The incident emphasizes "hate" from Trump supporters.
MAGA is really a hate mongering acronym.

This "incident" was simply too wonderful to the media, for them to critique it or downplay it.

This whole episode would make more sense if this turned out to be a gotcha moment inspired by true Trumper...It worked out so perfectly.

Covington and now this...Life is getting better all the time!

The world cannot now disavow the fact of a deranged press!

Answer. Nobody in the media and none of the hyperventilating politicians and celebrities believed the story. They amplified it because they hoped their ignorant audiences would believe it.

I suspect if we could drill down far enough, we´d find Valerie Jarrett and the Obama´s at the heart of this along w/Booker and Harris.
This will never be allowed to happen, and I won´t be surprised if Smollett is never legally found guilty or incarcerated for his hoax. This is after all Chicago.
Something will come along to knock Smollett off the front page just as Smollett knocked a Governor wearing a KKK uniform and supporting infanticide off the front page.

They believed it was true because they wanted it to be true.

Kinda like the 2016 elections when PDT had tens of thousands at his rallies and Illary had a couple hundred. The left believed that she would win because they wanted her to win. The indications that she would lose were staring them in the face and they just wouldn’t look at them. Now we are reaping the results and have been for the last 28 months.

But please notice what it DID do --- it knocked right off the news pages the black-faced governor and his rapist lieutenant governor. And the infanticide murderer in NYS also caught a break.

Just lay low and you will get away with murder ... if you´re a Lefty.

We as adults can handle ourselves from the gay intimidation. Imagine what young children in school have to deal. If they don´t care for the personality of a gay classmate and do not want to associate with them they are branded homophobe. We are losing the idea of the individual for the tribe.

All good questions but only for actual reporters.

Such questions are a meaningless distraction to propaganda media and Leftists pursuing a narrative for their agenda.

One wonders if they are tired of looking stupid but they are desperate and such people do stupid things without heed.

In truth, the actual outcome won´t matter to the liberal echo chamber. Their failings and buffoonery are quickly forgotten. If Leftists were burdened by the weight of history they would be crude oil by now. They will ignore it and carry on.

Hopefully though, the mushy middle will see the continual failure of the media and Left and wake a bit to their uselessness.

FTA: “Why did you believe Jussie Smollett?”

That’s easy. Confirmation bias.

The majority of those in the media, top to bottom, believe the false narratives that 1) American culture and society are permeated by institutional racism and white privilege; 2) America is mostly populated by racist, homophobic, islamophobic, misogynistic white cretins who deserve their hatred and contempt; and 3) because the deplorable Americans elected Trump he MUST be either the same as them, an opportunistic charlatan who has fooled them, or both.

Those are the biases that most in the mainstream press, from news directors, anchors, reporters, writers, editors, down through the journalism-major interns who get their coffee, carry with them into the room. It should not be particularly surprising that they repeatedly fall for any story that supports those preexisting biases, no matter how suspect on its face the story may be.

By the way, the above analysis also applies to the never-Trumpers.

Okay, how´s this for an example spam email to everyone in the MSM?

Dear Bob Costas,
I have heard great amounts of your trustworthiness and seek the help of an honest person. My name is Ralph Johnson and I am the nephew of Mgwemgwe Mfutu, Nigeria´s former Minister of All the Monies. Sadly, my uncle died last year of ebola cancer and left 100 million US dollars in a bank account located at a bank in London, England. I need a real bank account to use so I can retrieve the funds and keep them away from Donald Trump, who will seize them to buy white privileged men MAGA hats and pay them to spread hate. I will give you 15 million dollars if you let me use your bank accounts to deposit the full 100 million dollars into. I know you are full of integrity and much honesty and that is why I am asking for your help. If you desire to stop Trump as much as the rest of the world then please send me your bank account numbers and passwords to Ralph Johnson, PO Box 001, Yellowcake, Nigeria so that I can quickly move the 100 million US dollars from England and you will receive 15 million dollars. Have a blessed day.

The aggregate effect of all of the false accusations is to have successfully imbedded into the minds of mush the notion that the country is crawling with white supremacists going around and attacking minorities.

And of course we as constitutional conservatives are joined at the hip with the pointy hat crowd.

The facts that have proven the high visibility cases to represent the exact opposite has had no impact on the effectiveness of the propoganda.

Hat tip to #22 and I´ll add Michael Brown.

Liberals and their media allies believe any fairy tale that they think will benefit their political agenda regardless of reality. Recent history shows that.

This Smollett perpetrated incident was clearly a politically, publicity, and racially based hoax. The evidence and testimony collected so far by the police shows that, and the alledged “victim” of the reported “hate” crime, Smollett is now failing to cooperate with the police investigation. It remains to be seen if Smollett will be prosecuted for filing a false police report in politically correct leftist and liberal Democrat run anti-Trump urban Chicago.

For nearly two years, the American public, and quite a few observers overseas, have hung on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s every word and action: each hire, each redaction, each revealing and yet opaque footnote in hundreds of filings. His fans have indulged in devotional candles and meme T-shirts. The document that Mueller delivered to Attorney General William Barr has been so eagerly awaited that its official name might as well be “The Highly Anticipated Mueller Report.” This must be uncomfortable for Mueller, who shuns publicity, doesn’t seem to have much taste for politics, and has maintained a silence

The Southern Poverty Law Center’s problems go well beyond the fact it’s a vicious, left-wing attack dog with no care whatsoever for the reputational and personal harm it causes by lumping Christians and anti-extremist activists with actual neo-Nazis. As it turns out, the SPLC is a cynical money-making scheme, according to a former staffer’s blistering tell-all, published this week in the New Yorker. The center’s chief goal is to bilk naive and wealthy donors who believe it´s an earnest effort to combat bigotry. Watch in slow motion as Democrats, goaded by the media, conspire to reelect President Trump: Voters care about the economy and making education and health care affordable. And so Democrats are talking about . . . abolishing the electoral college? Sen. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.) started the latest distraction at a CNN town hall on Monday. “Get rid of the electoral college,” she said, neglecting to mention that this has zero chance of occurring in the foreseeable future. The media took it from there. On Tuesday, MSNBC’s Garrett Haake pressed former representative Beto O’Rourke (Tex.)

Robert Mueller has delivered his report on the Trump-Russia investigation to Attorney General William Barr. Sometime soon, perhaps within hours, Barr will send the report´s "principal conclusions" to Congress. It will first go to the chairperson and ranking member of both the House and Senate Judiciary committees. It is unclear what will happen after that, but certainly other lawmakers will see the document, and there will be a steady stream of leaks of what is in the report. The Mueller investigation is over, and it is apparently the case that Mueller does not recommend any new indictments.

Who is the biggest threat to our constitutional order? It is not President Trump. Ever since Trump took office, Democrats have been telling us he is an authoritarian who threatens our system of government. Well, today it is Democrats who are declaring war on the Constitution. Leading Democrats are promising that, if elected in 2020, they will abolish the Electoral College and might also pack the Supreme Court with liberal justices -- allowing them to marginalize Americans who do not support their increasingly radical agenda and impose it on an unwilling nation. The mainstream media seemed to suffer a collective shock Friday evening after the office of Special Counsel Robert Mueller handed its final report of its Russia investigation to the Department of Justice. MSNBC host Chris Matthews seemed livid that neither President Trump, his children, nor his “henchmen” would face any criminal charges from the special counsel. “Maybe he missed the boat here,” Matthews said of Mueller. “Because we know about the Trump Tower meeting in June 2016, we know about the meeting at the cigar bar with Kilimnik [Konstantin Kilimnik, a Russian political consultant].

Even though we do not yet know exactly what the Mueller Report says, we do now know that no other indictments are in the works. No collusion with Russia by the Trump campaign was found. So, the self-assured and confident predictions by so many on the left that they had seen "cold, hard evidence," and that Mueller would find copious evidence of "collusion" with Russia, was just wishful thinking alone. (Video) Erica Sandberg, a community advocate and journalist, broke it down for us: "Right now the major issue — people always call it homelessness — but the major issue is drugs." While San Francisco has always battled homelessness and currently has about 7,000 homeless people, the drug issue is exacerbating the problem. The city currently hands out more than 400,000 syringes each month but only 246,000 are returned, leaving 154,000 syringes left

First of all, of course everyone should wait to see the contents of the actual Mueller report before drawing any specific final conclusions about it. But here are some laws of nature in the modern age: If that report contained a fraction of the damaging material breathlessly awaited in the media culture for two years, there would be some smoke signal of it. Instead, we saw an actual finding from the Justice Department that there would be no further indictments from the probe. No indictment of Trump. No indictment of anyone associated with the campaign or the administration to support

Democrat 2020 candidate Robert “Beto” O’Rourke warned from the campaign trail in South Carolina Friday night there may not be another year of America if the Mueller report is not made public. “Republicans and Democrats should do whatever they can to make sure their constituents, the American people, can read that report, form their own judgement, make their own decisions, and that the truth comes out,” O’Rourke said at a campaign stop in South Carolina Friday. O’Rourke warned that America may not see another year if details of Russian interference in the 2016 election included in the Mueller report are

Hours after New Zealand announced prohibitions against semiautomatic rifles and shotguns, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) tweeted the U.S. needs to follow the gun ban example. Feinstein tweeted: “In country after country, massacres are followed by sweeping changes to gun laws, as logic would dictate. The United States needs to follow these examples and take action to protect Americans from this deadly public health scourge.” She attached a statement to her tweet wherein she noted: Here at home in America, since the 1999 shooting at Columbine High School, we’ve suffered through at least 227 school shootings that killed 143 and left

MSNBC’s top Russiagate conspiracy theorist Rachel Maddow burst into tears on Friday — after the past two years of her reporting was revealed to be nonsense. On Friday, it was revealed that there would be no more indictments from Robert Mueller’s office, sealed or otherwise, which completely contradicts the tall tales that she has been selling her viewers. Barely holding it together, Maddow emotionally explained that she is on a fishing trip in Tennessee and came into a studio — despite having had the day off. (Videos/Tweets) Clinging to absolutely anything to avoid apologizing for her bogus reporting, Maddow claimed that

A group of black seminarians is seeking amends for the Princeton Theological Seminary’s founders’ and early faculty’s ties to slavery. The Association of Black Seminarians posted a petition online earlier this month as a response to a report that detailed the seminary’s history with slavery, which was released last year. So far, the group has collected more than 400 signatures on the petition, which asks for $5.3 million annually to fund tuition grants for black students and establish a Black Church Studies program.(Snip) “Princeton Theological Seminary is uniquely positioned to lead the theological academy in addressing historic, structural, educational
