A wire fox terrier from Brazil named King was announced Tuesday as the winner of the 143rd Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Wire fox terriers have won 15 times at the nation´s most prestigious dog show -- far more than any other breed. There were some boos — along with modest cheers — when judge Peter Green pointed at the 7-year-old King. Bono the Havanese came in second among the more than 2,800 dogs that competed.(tweet)Contenders in the final ring were Bean, a popular Sussex spaniel that has won

I was rooting for Burns. Dachshunds have never won Best in Show.

Given all the chatter beforehand, I was shocked Bono the Havanese didn´t win. But the Wire Fox Terrier definitely was cute.

Love this show and it´s one of the very few I eve watch on TV. Of course we all have our favorites and admit that Bono the Havanese was mine. I have to be careful, however, since my sweet Westie watches with me, so keep telling her that she is the most beautiful, no matter what those judges say!

I love dogs, but I hate this show. I think the AKC has ruined a lot of breeds and I would take my childhood pet (an old-time Scotch collie) over any dog in the world.

Long-haired dachshund or Havanese should have won. Those pups were "on". The judge was a wire fox terrier love.

Was rooting for the LC Dachshund too. Liked the Havanese. Too bad about the Schipperke, but it apparently went back to the judge´s dog breeding somehow. There were only 6 dogs for Best in Show instead of 7.

When Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke arrived for a campaign stop at Beancounter Coffeehouse in Burlington, Iowa, he hopped right up on the shop’s counter and addressed the masses below. During a visit to Narrow Way Cafe in Detroit, Michigan, O’Rourke grabbed a microphone and scrambled up onto the counter. At Sing-A-Long Bar and Grill in Mount Vernon, Iowa? You bet he got up on that counter. Critics have accused O’Rourke of running on a vague political platform. But there’s one platform the Democratic hopeful openly stands on: the sturdy countertops of Midwest cafes.

The lawyer for the 16-year-old girl who state prosecutors now say was the victim attached to the mysterious plea deal given to multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein says neither he nor his client was ever informed that it was her case that ended Epstein’s prosecution. The victim, who is now 31, wasn’t among Epstein’s youngest victims, but she was among those who were more brutally sexually assaulted, repeatedly, by both Epstein and others, according to records reviewed by the Miami Herald. “I was never told that any of my 16 victim clients were part of Epstein’s charges in state court,’’

Not long ago, a 4-year-old boy died of the flu. His mother, under doctor´s orders, watched his two little brothers like a hawk, terrified they might get sick and die, too. Grieving and frightened, just days after her son´s death she checked her Facebook page hoping to read messages of comfort from family and friends. Instead, she found dozens of hateful comments: You´re a terrible mother. You killed your child. You deserved what happened to your son. This is all fake - your child doesn´t exist.

When the newly elected Rep. Ilhan Omar kicked off her acceptance speech with “As-Salaam-Alaikum,” I felt a space of belonging. There was a feeling that American Muslims had arrived—but what arrived with them, and which version of Islam was going to be represented through her and fellow Muslim freshman Rep. Rashida Tlaib? As-Salaam-Alaikum means “peace be with you,” but how Omar has carried herself in the weeks that followed has been anything put peaceful. Here’s a quick rundown of her recent actions. Omar accused American Jews of holding dual loyalty toward Israel. However, there was no word

KNOXVILLE, Iowa — It’s caucus season here in Iowa, and Democratic presidential candidates are swarming the place like flies at a cattle barn. We’ve talked policy with Amy Klobuchar and Kirsten Gillibrand over beers, and watched Kamala Harris work the crowd at a bar in Indianola. We’ve been in what once would have been “smoke-filled rooms” with Steve Bullock and Cory Booker. We’ve been stuffed into what seemed like enormous mosh pits oozing with adoring fans of Elizabeth Warren. The Iowa caucus offers Democrats an opportunity to hone their pitch to rural America.

New York- I might be slightly less hostile to the Green New Deal, had I not walked home the other Sunday in a hail storm. Even before the BB-sized bits of ice came shooting down from the heavens that morning, this winter has been brutal, from Gotham to the Golden Gate. Our Lady of Perpetual Limelight, Saint Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, demands that America battle so-called “deadly, manmade global warming” as if it were Nazi Germany. Ten-year cost: $93 trillion. But this supposed threat somehow seems less menacing than Adolf Hitler and the Wehrmacht.Any given winter does not equal “climate.”
