Study: Voter ID Laws Don’t Stop People Voting
Washington Free Beacon, by Charles Fain Lehman

Original Article

Posted By:Pluperfect, 2/12/2019 5:08:04 AM

Strict voter ID laws do not suppress turnout, a new paper finds, regardless of sex, race, Hispanic identity, or party affiliation. Requiring photo ID to vote is a hotly contested subject in American political discourse. Proponents argue that it is necessary to insure against fraud and preserve the integrity of the American electoral system. Opponents argue that it will disenfranchise otherwise eligible voters—many of whom would be poor and of color—who are unable to easily obtain ID. In total, 10 states, ranging from Georgia to Wisconsin, require voters to show ID in order to vote.

Well, they sure seem to be able to pull together whatever they need to get an EBT card or a drivers license. I have to show a photo ID to vote; I don´t see anything wrong with it....unless you´re an illegal trying to slip through the cracks.

I´m sure the headline is incorrect. ID laws certainly discourage illegal immigrants from voting. That is why the dems want to block the laws.

As to the supposition that the laws aren´t effective, given that logic we should unlock the doors on banks vaults and dispose of alarm systems. After all, there aren´t that many bank robberies.

Consider this system has very low cost. The vast majority of people already have a driver´s license. State ID systems are already in place for non-drivers who need an ID for other reasons. Maybe a small number of additional IDs need to be issued for voting only.

Let´s DO this!

It´s a national embarrassent to have to discuss this every few years. THE most important duty we are entrusted with is selecting our local, state and national government officials. We do it for our family, friends and fighting forces. The thought of my vote being negated by a criminal who is being bribed by the enemy is not something any American should ever allow.
There is not-nor will there ever be- an excuse for this travesty on the part of the liberal leftists.

The only place Voter ID Laws ´are being discussed´ are by Democrats; who view it as a tool to add in votes.
The easier they make voting, the easier for THEM to steal elections.

Here is something ironic to consider.
I am a resident of Pennsylvania, and I have a Pa. driver´s license.
My Pa. driver´s license is inadequate as a form of ID if I want to cross the border, or go into a Federal courthouse, according to a federal law passed after the filthy islamofascist terrorist pig attacks of 9/11/01..
So Pennsylvania is forcing me to obtain another, supplemental form of ID, issued by Pennsylvania.
But I can vote without an ID.
If someone can make sense out of this, let me know.
Oh - one more thing. I have a passport ID card, issued by the State Department. I can return to the U.S. by ground transportation, and the passport card suffices, but I cannot fly back into the U.S. using that card.
Beam me up, Scotty. There is no intelligent life form here.

Republicans are Idiots. The way to sell the ID is to point out that we want everyone to succeed in their wildest dreams in the USA. To reach those dreams in life one needs an ID - Make ID´s free and help everyone participate in this great USA. No need to sell it as a voting requirement

An actual person using false ID going in to vote is old school. There are plenty of ways to create votes without using physical people going through the line filling out ballots.

There are all sorts of ´checks´ to prevent illegal voting, and yet we have seen its results with OUR OWN EYES when the ´system´ does not protect us from illegal voting practices.

When votes are tabulated, there should be a period of time that there are no more votes "discovered" or "harvested".

Without that GOLD STAR on the ID, those votes should be taken BUT NOT COUNTED until VERIFIED.

By our non-action, we have allowed these unlawful and unethical practices to the point they can turn elections away from honest election results, aand this canot stand if our nation is to survive--

Thanks to the Motor-Voter law, many non-citizens are registered to vote. This is because anybody getting a drivers license is asked if they want to register to vote. Seldom is is any attempt made to verify if they have the right to vote. As a result, eight of the 19 9-11 terrorists were registered to vote -- because they´d gotten driver´s licenses.

In the few states that have bothered to check, illegal aliens were found on the voter rolls.

After 9-11, attempts were made to clean up the voter rolls, but were opposed by the Democrats claiming discrimination and voter suppression.

Well, I am totally in favor of discriminating against and suppression of terrorists and illegal aliens voting in our elections.

On my soapbox.

Make gun-control background checks for gun purchases as hard as you want.

And then require them of everyone who wants to obtain or maintain their voter registration.

Make it so, if you are registered to vote, you can buy a gun with only ONE other question: Has anything changed since you registered to vote?

That´ll fix it.

The left never presents an actual person that wanted to vote but couldn’t, due to ‘voter suppression.’ I would like to see the individual’s circumstances. So, IMO, there is no proof of voter suppression.

Saw a news report a few years ago, done in NYC, where “people of color” were asked if they had an ID and if they had experienced any difficulty getting one. Every single one of them had an ID and every single one of them was highly insulted by the suggestion that minorities had difficulties getting IDs. The left makes it sound like they are too stupid to figure out how to get one. I’d be highly insulted too.

Voter suppression are New Black Panther Party members with baseball bats outside a voting precinct and the President and AG condone it and no charges are filed. That´s voter intimidation and suppression.
Take the illegals out of the equation and let us deal with harvesting votes and counting until the dems win. Just win big enough with landslides victories.

In California the illegal aliens get driver licenses that state on them that the card is for driving purposes only and may not be used for identification. My guess is that language is just ignored at Democrat voter registration online and in person and at same day voting polls! This is the main reason the Democrats are opposed to the wall they know they can get illegals registered to vote no need for amnesty!

The author says that the number of illegal votes is too small to be used statistically. While that may be true, Texas found 90,000 illegal voter registrations. If even 9,000 of those people voted it could swing a state and its electoral votes.

And in some Florida counties, that many registrations are ´voted´ by vote counters before the results are released.

Voter ID laws may discourage some ineligible aliens from voting, but will not stop ineligible aliens who are politically inclined to vote from actually voting.

Many States are now issuing drivers licenses and State ID cards to known illegal aliens. Under the Clinton era Motor-Voter laws, that were facilitated through Congress by the leftist and liberal Democrats with the help of wimpy Chamber of Commerce and cheap labor loving Republicans, to the effect that everyone who is handed a drivers license is afforded the opportunity to register to vote, no questions asked. Once registered to vote, thereafter voting registrars are prohibited from challenging a registered voter by asking for evidence of US citizenship because of the suspicion that the registered voter may in fact be an alien.

Once registered to vote, ineligible aliens no longer have to show ID, because the voting laws have been so liberalized through absentee and early voting processes where ballots can be requested by sending in a post card. After receiving a ballot in the mail that ballot can then effectively be filled out by anyone and then harvested by political operatives especially in immigrant and minority communities. Some illegal aliens have multiple drivers licenses issued by different States in different identities and can easily apply for a ballot in each of their identities.

This issue is a very big problem because today there are tens of millions of foreigners, both illegally and legally, in the USA, all of who are not lawfully entitled to vote in US elections.

There is no doubt that today the voter registration processes across the country are so insecure that ineligible aliens can easily register to vote and vote in US elections. It is clear that the leftist and liberal Democrats want to keep it that way.

In PA, new voters (to that district) have to show ID.
I work at a big box retailer. When people come in to pick up a .com order, they have to show a driver´s license, or the last 4 digits of the credit card.
I have to show ID at various doctors´ offices.
In PA, they don´t take the names off the poll books of the people who move away.

I agree with #23 about the wimpy Republicans.

The big reason that the Republicans are scared to death to tangle with the leftist and liberal Democrats on Democrat cries of voter suppression caused by having to present voter ID, and ineligible aliens voting in US elections, is that the Republicans know that if they do, the Democrats will play the race card against them, and nothing is more likely to send the wimpy Republicans scurrying to hide under their mattresses then the Democrats calling them racists. The Democrats know that and is why they keep playing the race card against the wimpy Republicans.

The Democrats are finding out that playing the race card does not work when dealing with President Trump as his retort is likely to be that the Democrats are full of crap.

Here in Mississippi we are required to show a picture ID to vote.

Every election cycle the Secretary of State´s office runs TV ads telling people that if they do not have a driver´s license and are eligible to vote and want to vote, they can get a FREE ride to the DMV and get a FREE Picture ID specifically so that they can vote.

I have yet to hear any complaints about this system.

Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes once said, “If my fellow citizens want to go to hell, I will help them. It is my job.” What he was expressing is the limited role of courts in challenges to federal law. It is not their task as judges to sit as a super legislature to question the priorities or policies of the political branches. They will gladly send Congress to hell. It only needs to be clear about the destination. In the matter of the border wall, Congress could not have been more clear where it was heading.

Just 33.9 percent of government workers now belong to a union, according to government figures, the lowest point since 1978, and down from a peak of 38.7 percent in the 1990s. Behind those numbers has been the failure of government labor groups to bounce back from a steep decline in government employment that began in 2009. That year, unions boasted 7.897 million government workers. Last year, however, just 7.162 million workers

The two hottest commodities in the Democratic Party are Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Earlier this week, Omar exhibited stunning ignorance in her hostile questioning of Elliott Adams Abrams. Similarly, Ocasio-Cortez has often displayed a surprising lack of knowledge for someone who apparently is a college graduate. Don’t get me started on the “Green New Socialism.” But she outdid herself yesterday. The context was Amazon’s announcement that it would not, after all, build a second corporate headquarters in Long Island City, which I understand is close to, but not within, Ocasio-Cortez’s district. The project reportedly would have entailed

Former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld launched a presidential exploratory committee in New Hampshire Friday, making him the first Republican officially eying a longshot GOP primary challenge to President Donald Trump. “I’m here because I think our country is in grave peril,” Weld said at an announcement at a “Politics and Eggs” breakfast in New Hampshire, a frequent stop for presidential candidates. “I cannot sit quietly on the sidelines any longer.” "We cannot sit passively as our precious democracy slips quietly into darkness," he said. Weld, who served as governor in the Bay State from 1991 to 1997, was the Libertarian Party

WASHINGTON— What is happening to the Democrats? Captivated by a handful of liberal superstars, they are venturing where the party has long feared to tread: Steep taxes on the rich. Abolishing an immigration enforcement agency. Proposing "economic transformation" to combat climate change. Gleefully waving goodbye to a big business — and its jobs. On Thursday, newly-elected Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez led a chorus of cheers as Amazon announced it was abandoning plans to build a sought-after headquarters in New York City. Activists berated the online giant for a $3 billion package of tax breaks she said the city could better invest

Andrew McCabe is a national disgrace. He was part of the most corrupt and most partisan leadership team in FBI history and was fired for being dishonest under oath. And yet, America owes him a big thank-you. McCabe, you see, has reminded us once again that there really is a powerful deep state, and that there has not been a full accounting of rampant FBI misconduct during the presidential campaign of 2016. There is also still too much we don’t know about the role top aides to then-President Barack Obama and higher-ups in the Justice Department

WASHINGTON – Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s relationship with boyfriend Riley Roberts is official. Roberts has been granted a government “house.gov” email address so he can access Ocasio-Cortez’s congressional calendar, the 29-year-old congresswoman confirmed Friday. Spouses of members of Congress are afforded privileges, such as a House email address, a congressional pin to bypass security and a House license plate to enter Capitol grounds and enjoy parking privileges, House aides say. While he’s not officially a spouse, Roberts can have access to House email for calendar purposes, according to the office of the Chief Administrative Officer of the House. “From time to

Andrew McCabe on Friday denied that he knew of an effort to oust President Trump using the 25th Amendment, saying he never had “any extended discussions” about the matter and was unaware of such talks. “At no time did Mr. McCabe participate in any extended discussions about the use of the 25th Amendment, nor is he aware of any such discussions,” his spokeswoman, Melissa Schwartz, said in a statement on Twitter, adding that his remarks about the issue were taken out of context. She said McCabe “was present and participated in a discussion that included a comment by Deputy Attorney
