Why the National Enquirer’s Attempt
to Extort Jeff Bezos Backfired

The New Yorker, by John Cassidy

Original Article

Posted By:Drive, 2/11/2019 8:17:51 AM

Memo to the honchos at the National Enquirer: if you are going to threaten one of the richest men in the world by saying that you have sexually explicit selfies of him and his girlfriend, don’t have your lawyer and top editor put the threats in writing. The rich guy might decide he can ride out a stolen dick pic or two, especially if he’s already announced that he’s getting divorced. “Something unusual happened to me yesterday,” Jeff Bezos, the founder and C.E.O. of Amazon, writes in a piece that appeared on Medium on Thursday evening.

The msm and the New Yorker are ignoring the salacious bit of the story; The Enquirer isn´t the story. The story is how the Enquirer got the photos - they were sent to them from close associates of Bezos - if not the brother of his adultery correspondent. Bezos had bigger issues than the Enquirer.

Depends on your definition of "backfired". His reputation regarding character, professionalism, trust, maturity, etc. has been dragged through a sewer. You can bet he hasn´t had time to deal with much else. When you get to the top, there isn´t much left to honor than self. He´s lost all that and will live with that for the rest of his life. Maybe restoring his character can be the mission of the Washington Post for the next several years.

At this point, I am not convinced that the National Enquirer actually attempted to extort Jeff Bezos.
I have not really followed the story because I don´t care enough. Perhaps there is more evidence than Bezos´ claim, but I have not seen it (have not looked for it either).

Might I also point out, Bezos said they tried to blackmail him. What we have evidence of, is that they had the goods on Bezos that was really bad for him, in his dealings with his wife and mistress.

I don´t think the Enquirer ever attempted to extort Bezos, and never had any expectations of anything from him, all that being creations of Bezos´s mind, which is not working very well in this matter. Bezos owns the paper of personal destruction, the WaPo and their micacau ads, their Moore hit pieces, so Bezos should not be surprised that his behavior might come under observation, and he might be a target.

It didn´t backfire on anyone except Bezos. His wife will take him to the cleaners in the divorce and I am guessing his backstreet mistress will get the boot for having a Trump-loving brother. Bezos will be lonely and his reputation tarnished. I will bet the Enquirer got a huge return on whatever investment they made in the photos.

Further to #3...Bezos and Amazon are riding a wave of domination and success. However, Amazon is a public company, as as such have shareholders and lenders.

Confidence in the integrity and business savvy of the leader is VITAL when times get tough, and they will for Amazon as for any other business. Keep in mind that all of AMZN´s profits can be rolled up into one year of Walmart´s.

Frankly, the story that it´s all being reinvested in the business gets real old over time, especially when the shares crack in value, there are no dividends, and it´s seen quite publicly that The Boss is more interested in other things, including his other businesses, than generating profit for the shareholders and paying back lenders.

When are the investors and shareholders going to tire of this? We may very well be at this point, which won´t be seen by lapdog media like the New Yorker.

Ignoring the salaciousness and crudeness of the act itself why would we want someone like Bezos developing a secure cloud for the CIA? Any public figure photographically exposing his privates to a girlfriend for sexual thrills will always be a rich target for extortion! Doesn´t anyone on left or in the msm think this is odd behavior for an adult older than a teenager let alone a 55+ year old man?

The watershed moment that led Amazon to reconsider coming to Queens came on Feb. 4 — when a fierce political foe was appointed to a state board with the power to thwart the project, said sources involved in the discussions. That was the day state Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins nominated Sen. Michael Gianaris as her appointee to the obscure Public Authorities Control Board. Gianaris, who represents Long Island City, where Amazon was planning to build one of its new headquarters, bitterly opposed the $3 billion in

80 percent of priests in the Vatican

A large majority of priests in the Vatican are gay, although many are not sexually active, a new book claims. A total of about 80 percent of the most revered clerics in the Roman Catholic Church are homosexual despite the church’s opposition to gay rights, according to the extensively researched book by French journalist Frédéric Martel. The gay priests adhere to an unspoken code called “the closet,” where it is understood that, for instance, a cardinal or bishop who denounces homosexuality is more likely to be gay, according to the book “In the Closet of the Vatican.”

He didn’t read intelligence reports and mixed up classified material with what he had seen in newspaper clips. He seemed confused about the structure and purpose of organizations and became overwhelmed when meetings covered multiple subjects. He blamed immigrants for nearly every societal problem and uttered racist sentiments with shocking callousness. This isn’t how President Trump is depicted in a new book by former deputy FBI director Andrew McCabe. Instead, it’s McCabe’s account of what it was like to work for then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

On my first bus trip to the Right to Life March in DC, the driver put in the tape of the infamous film, The Silent Scream, narrated by Dr. Bernard Nathanson. Nathanson was one of the original co-founders of NARAL, (the first abortion advocate group), whose mind was changed about the issue after watching an ultrasound showing the struggle of a fetus fighting for its life. What I found incredible about the film was a display of the many deadly instruments depicted that would be inserted into the woman’s body.

There were two victims in the horrific attack earlier this month on Jennifer Irigoyen in New York City. But the state’s law recognizes only one of them. Anthony Hobson allegedly dragged his former girlfriend into the stairwell of her Queens apartment building and stabbed her in the stomach, neck and torso. Irigoyen was in the second trimester of her pregnancy. Neither she nor her unborn child survived. Queens District Attorney Richard Brown initially announced that Hobson would be charged with second-degree murder as well as second-degree abortion, reasonably enough, considering that he stands accused of killing both Irigoyen and her child

But he nearly escaped justice. And it’s all Sean Penn’s fault. Chapo had run the infamous Sinaloa cartel since the 1980s and was responsible for much of the cocaine, marijuana, meth and heroin flowing into the United States. Both American and Mexican law enforcement had attempted to arrest him, but he proved almost supernaturally slippery. He escaped from Mexican lockups twice and was a fugitive for decades, rarely sleeping in the same place twice.
