Best and worst moments
from Grammy Awards 2019

New York Post, by Chuck Arnold

Original Article

After a one-year stint in New York, the Recording Academy returned to Los Angeles’ Staples Center for Grammys 2019, the 61st annual edition of music’s biggest night. Still, the Big Apple was represented by New York’s own Alicia Keys helming the festivities as the first female host in 14 years. And the big winner was country-pop star Kacey Musgraves, who brought home four gramophones, including Album of the Year for “Golden Hour.” But as always, it was mostly about the performances. (Yes, Janelle! No, Jennifer!) From moving acceptance speeches to rousing live sets,

My personal best moment: all night. Didn’t watch. Didn’t even know they were on. And reading the article, I know about 3 of the performers. Besides, they don’t make “artists”’ like they used to.

I spent the evening watching some paint dry. Well, actually, it was already dry - but I watched the dry paint while sort of replaying what it looked like when it WAS drying during last year´s Grammy´s.

"Awards" shows are just fashion shows and narcissistic envy fests. No desire to watch--no talent to see.

I miss the days of the Eagles, Chicago, Journey, Styx, REO Speedwagon, and Pat Benatar.

What disguises itself as music is no worth the time. I couldn´t get back those hours of my life. Same goes for the Oscars.

These award shows are just a gathering of people who think they are special. They start and finish their shows congratulating themselves. They couldn´t hold a candle to the stars of yesteryear. Also they would have worn clothes that covered the essential parts of their bodies.
I think those times were referred to as glamorous. There is nothing glamorous about Hollyweird today. All skin, all tight, all see-through, tons of cleavage and an assumption that only sex sells. No talent required.

Texas man brings steer to Petco to test

Don’t have a cow, man - unless it´s at Petco. A man and woman from Texas couldn’t help but laugh as they recently walked their leashed steer into a Houston-area Petco to really see if “all leashed pets are welcome” at the store. To Shelly Lumpkin and Vincent Browning’s surprise, the African Watusi was welcomed “with open arms,” Browning wrote on his Facebook page on Monday. “The staff members here are always super friendly and courteous to us. We really enjoy coming to this location...our favorite Petco BY FAR!!” The post has since earned more than 400,000 views.

How to end our national nightmare —

Now that special counsel Robert Mueller has completed his investigation, it is tempting to breathe a sigh of relief and assume that our long national nightmare is over. Resist the temptation, the assumption is false. We are not close to the end. Not by a long shot. In fact, I believe the last two years, as traumatic as they were, will prove to be the easier part of the nightmare, because Mueller dealt only with whether Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign conspired with Russia to swing the election. Based on what we know so far, especially that no more indictments are coming,

NEW YORK -- Breaking news: Donald J. Trump won the presidency, fair and square. He does not occupy the Oval Office due to an elaborate plot involving the KGB, the Kremlin, Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin, or the ghosts of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg. Instead, he won the old-fashioned way: He followed the rules and out-foxed and out-worked Democratic Party nominee Hillary Clinton. Hillary, in turn, appeared at only 63 rallies in the final 99 days of the 2016 general-election campaign (versus 132 for Trump), as Gateway Pundit’s Joe Hoft calculated. She addressed, on average, 1,734 people at each

Journalism Dies in Self-Importance

I suppose it’s true that “Democracy Dies in Darkness,” as the Washington Post’s slogan says. But journalism may also die, by morphing into forms that can no longer be described as journalism. Journalism may come to mean a crooked scandal sheet, or high-minded propaganda. Sometimes squalor and self-righteousness are equally disreputable. The Post’s apothegm, somehow off-kilter, with its alliteration and self-importance, was a purposeful bit of branding, designed to claim high ground and to poke a thumb in President Trump’s eye every morning. Such partisan intent detracts from the slogan’s claim to universality. The self-serving implication—the notion that,

Special Counsel Bob Mueller has handed in his report, marking the effective end of the three-year Trump-Russia investigation. Hallelujah! This means that Mueller firmly expects to file no more criminal charges, which pretty much confirms that all the media and political hysteria about his investigation was driven more by partisan wishful thinking than by anything resembling hard evidence. And that hysteria used up far too much time and attention in a nation with plenty of real issues to worry about. Yes, as much as possible of Mueller’s report should be released to the public,

Special counsel Robert Mueller has submitted his report on Russian meddling in the US election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign to Attorney General William Barr, the Justice Department said Friday. Justice notified Congress late Friday that it had received Mueller’s report but did not disclose any of its conclusions. “I am reviewing the [Mueller] report and I anticipate that I may be in a position to advise you of the Special Counsel’s principal conclusion as soon as this weekend,” Barr told Congress. President Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani and Jay Sekulow issued a joint statement.

A constant refrain we now hear is that President Trump’s order to finance the wall is “unconstitutional” and “violates the separation of powers.” That is not the case. Richard H. Pildes, a professor of constitutional law at New York University, wrote on March 14 the clarifying article, “How the Supreme Court Weakened Congress on Emergency Declarations.” Here are his salient points: Trump’s declaration of a national emergency to build the wall derives from that singular authority in the National Emergencies Act (NEA), passed by Congress in l976. Since then, presidents have resorted to the NEA 58 times.

This spelling and grammar test from the 1980s is so difficult that it is claimed no one can get more than 50 per cent of the answers right. The 20-question quiz promises to leave even the brightest brains scratching their heads. Indeed it is so tricky that its creator, Playbuzz user Terry Stein, claims players will ´never´ be able to score more than 10 out of 20. So if you think you have what it takes then scroll down to take the test in full. But the answers are at the bottom - so no cheating...

Even though we do not yet know exactly what the Mueller Report says, we do now know that no other indictments are in the works. No collusion with Russia by the Trump campaign was found. So, the self-assured and confident predictions by so many on the left that they had seen "cold, hard evidence," and that Mueller would find copious evidence of "collusion" with Russia, was just wishful thinking alone. They all had to know the infamous "dossier" was faked.

First of all, of course everyone should wait to see the contents of the actual Mueller report before drawing any specific final conclusions about it. But here are some laws of nature in the modern age: If that report contained a fraction of the damaging material breathlessly awaited in the media culture for two years, there would be some smoke signal of it. Instead, we saw an actual finding from the Justice Department that there would be no further indictments from the probe. No indictment of Trump.
