Best and worst moments
from Grammy Awards 2019

New York Post, by Chuck Arnold

After a one-year stint in New York, the Recording Academy returned to Los Angeles’ Staples Center for Grammys 2019, the 61st annual edition of music’s biggest night. Still, the Big Apple was represented by New York’s own Alicia Keys helming the festivities as the first female host in 14 years. And the big winner was country-pop star Kacey Musgraves, who brought home four gramophones, including Album of the Year for “Golden Hour.” But as always, it was mostly about the performances. (Yes, Janelle! No, Jennifer!) From moving acceptance speeches to rousing live sets,

My personal best moment: all night. Didn’t watch. Didn’t even know they were on. And reading the article, I know about 3 of the performers. Besides, they don’t make “artists”’ like they used to.

"Awards" shows are just fashion shows and narcissistic envy fests. No desire to watch--no talent to see.

I miss the days of the Eagles, Chicago, Journey, Styx, REO Speedwagon, and Pat Benatar.

What disguises itself as music is no worth the time. I couldn´t get back those hours of my life. Same goes for the Oscars.

These award shows are just a gathering of people who think they are special. They start and finish their shows congratulating themselves. They couldn´t hold a candle to the stars of yesteryear. Also they would have worn clothes that covered the essential parts of their bodies.
I think those times were referred to as glamorous. There is nothing glamorous about Hollyweird today. All skin, all tight, all see-through, tons of cleavage and an assumption that only sex sells. No talent required.

When Dan Reed ordered up a score for his documentary, he asked the composer to evoke the image of a shimmering sprite leading two boys deeper and deeper into an enchanted forest. The boys don’t notice that the trees grow menacing. And suddenly, the sprite turns into a monster. As “Leaving Neverland” shows, Michael Jackson spent his life shape-shifting from best pal, father figure and beneficent idol into cruel, manipulative rapist. It was apparent for decades that Jackson’s cotton-candy lair was sulfurous. But as with other monsters — Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby, R. Kelly, Woody Allen, Jeffrey Epstein

Andrew McCabe lied multiple times to federal investigators. That was the official finding in February 2018 of a scathing 39-page report by the Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of the Inspector General. They found McCabe, then Deputy Director of Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) "lacked candor" in answering questions about his authorization of disclosures in the Hillary Clinton email investigation. The referral for further action went to the DOJ. One year later he is publishing a book, being highlighted on CBS’ “60 Minutes,” and walking free after lying at least four times, three of them

You’re right, Mr. President, Saturday Night Live isn’t funny. Tell us something we don’t know. SNL isn’t funny, Elizabeth Warren isn’t an Indian and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez can’t do math. You call this “collusion.” The rest of us call it “obvious.” In fact, if you pledged not to tweet again until Alec Baldwin landed a funny line on NBC, you could throw away your smartphone right now. And your poll numbers would jump 10 points before Easter. My complaint isn’t about SNL’s blatant partisanship, it’s about something far more important: comedy. ´Medicare for All´ would require obesity laws

Proponents of "Medicare for All" often point towards European nations with universal healthcare systems to prove that single-payer could work here. The global ramifications of inevitably immolating our medical research and development aside, there´s just one, massive elephant in the room that progressives love to ignore: obesity. At 36.2 percent, the American obesity rate is the 12th-highest in the world and first among OECD countries. Of every European nation with universal healthcare, only the United Kingdom (27.8 percent) and Hungary (26.4 percent) come within 10 percent of the American obesity rate. I don’t think we have commented on Joe Biden’s disgraceful performance at the Munich Security Conference yesterday. I haven’t seen a full transcript of his remarks, but he delivered a partisan stump speech to an audience of European leaders. It consisted largely of an attack on the President of the United States. I’m so old, I can remember when that was considered bad form. Speaking on German soil 75 years after the U.S. and its allies prepared for D-Day, Joe Biden described America as “an embarrassment” and its trade policies “self-defeating.” “The America I see values basic human decency,

Pollster and political analyst Pat Caddell died from a stroke on Saturday at the age of 68. Few people had more to do with Donald Trump’s amazing victory in 2016. The Washington Post concluded that Caddell “first wrote the instruction manual” for Trump when, entirely on his own, he conducted polls showing that the public “was ripe for an outsider candidate to take the White House.” No one I know in public life better grasped the angry voter mood that lifted both Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump in 2016.

In 2016, a popular meme featured a photo of admiring reporters on an airplane and the text, something like “Find someone who looks at you the way reporters look at Hillary Clinton.” That photo is weirdly hard to find now, but if this isn’t it, it is close enough:(Snip for photo)In 2016, Hillary was the candidate of the liberal press. Who will be the anointed candidate next year? Kamala Harris is a good bet. MEXICO CITY—Hundreds of Central American migrants encamped in Mexico’s border city of Piedras Negras, across from Eagle Pass, Texas, are being relocated to other cities after a group of migrants rioted earlier this week and attempted to leave an abandoned factory where they were being held. A senior Mexican government official said Friday that the relocation seeks to disband the group of some 1,400 Central American asylum seekers, most of them from Honduras, and prevent potential mass attempts to rush for the border fence to cross to the U.S., as happened in Tijuana late last year.

It is simply astonishing that these actors allegedly held conversations around the notion of seizing power from the elected head of the executive branch. MILWAUKEE — Gregory Greiten was 17 years old when the priests organized the game. It was 1982 and he was on a retreat with his classmates from St. Lawrence, a Roman Catholic seminary for teenage boys training to become priests. Leaders asked each boy to rank which he would rather be: burned over 90 percent of his body, paraplegic, or gay. Each chose to be scorched or paralyzed. Not one uttered the word “gay.” They called the game the Game of Life. The lesson stuck. Seven years later, he climbed up into his seminary
