John Dingell embodied Washington
Washington Examiner, by Editorial

Original Article

Posted By:Pluperfect, 2/10/2019 5:34:20 AM

John Dingell, who served his country and the people of Michigan for six decades, died Feb. 7. We join the rest of Washington in offering our prayers for his soul and his family. Our job, though, is one of telling the truth without fear or favor. The niceties most people extend to the recently deceased cannot be steadfastly observed by journalists when the deceased is a public figure, particularly one who has wielded as much power and helped shape Washington as much as Dingell has. We’re not suggesting Dingell deserves extraordinary opprobrium. Instead, we’re saying John Dingell embodied Congress and official Washington

Yes, Dingle embodied Washington, and helped create the biggest Criminal organization ever in the history of man-kind, The house of Representatives.

´Touching stories´ about his wife? Who bloody cares?

Political spouses should be enjoined from lobbying full stop.

As for Dingell´s ´furious defense´ of Detroit - how did Detroit fare during the decades of Dingell´s corrupt, malign, carpetbagging reign?

He most certainly does deserve extraordinary opprobrium.

Dingell represents most of the people in DC who forgot decades ago why they went to Congress in the first place....if they ever even knew.

What did this government moocher ever do good for Detroit or Wayne County? Detroit is a major crime community and Dearborn has been captured by the muslims.

Last sentence is a head scratcher, possibly intentionally. After going on for a couple of paragraphs about how Dingell was the auto industry’s go-to guy, the last paragraph says he served in Congress longer than anyone else and came to embody that industry. Which industry? The auto industry or the law-making industry?

The percentage of government workers who belong to a union dipped again in 2018 and has hit a 40-year low. Just 33.9 percent of government workers now belong to a union, according to government figures, the lowest point since 1978, and down from a peak of 38.7 percent in the 1990s. Behind those numbers has been the failure of government labor groups to bounce back from a steep decline in government employment that began in 2009. That year, unions boasted 7.897 million government workers. Last year, however, just 7.162 million workers

Amazon calls the socialists´ bluff

Following months of complaints from the progressive politicos who control local politics in New York City, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos abruptly canceled plans to open the online retailer´s new corporate headquarters branch in Queens. Amazon had spent more than a year hunting for the location of its new headquarters, baiting cities across the country into falling over themselves and making ridiculous promises in a bid to get Amazon´s 50,000 jobs. The tech giant ultimately settled on splitting its new HQ between New York and Crystal City, Va. New York´s corporate welfare package was especially large, appallingly so.

If Washington, D.C. were a better place, former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe would be swiftly run out of town. He was fired last year for lying to the FBI’s inspector general at least four times regarding serious questions about multiple abuses that occurred while McCabe sat in a powerful and unelected office. These abuses included working with former FBI director James Comey to set up former White House chief of staff Reince Priebus for obstruction charges, slow-walking and sabotaging the investigation of yet unseen Hillary Clinton emails found on Anthony Weiner’s computer just before the 2016 election,

ROME — The Vatican on Saturday said it had stripped ex-cardinal Theodore McCarrick of the rights of the priesthood, leveling a historic penalty against a onetime church power broker and former archbishop of Washington who has been credibly accused of sexual abuse. In a short release, the Vatican said a canonical process had found McCarrick guilty of several charges, including “sins” with minors and adults, “with the aggravating factor of the abuse of power.” McCarrick, the Vatican said, was notified on Friday of the decision. The decision was affirmed by Pope Francis, meaning McCarrick has no further recourse.

Federal authorities seized two massive shipments of cocaine at the same California port of entry in late January. The total for the two shipments was 221 pounds -- the largest at that port in 25 years, according to officials. The busts, which were announced on Friday, were both found aboard ships at Port Hueneme in Ventura County, about 60 miles northwest of Los Angeles, coming from Central and South America. The first shipment, which was 204.2 pounds, was seized on Jan. 22 on a cargo ship from Ecuador. Six days later, the same authorities found a seven-bundle, 17.5-pound shipment

The most egregious anti-democratic actions ever taken by the what can now fairly be called the Deep State are confirmed with the publication of fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe’s new book detailing how the FBI and Justice Department plotted to remove President Trump from office for firing FBI Director James Comey. Justice Department and FBI officials spied on U.S. citizens with false warrants, gave a pass to one presidential campaign with a predetermined investigation, investigated another political campaign on the basis of no verified evidence, and illegally leaked information on investigations. They discussed wiretapping and using the 25th Amendment

In the late ’70s there was a horrendous spate of child murders in the Atlanta area. Once it became clear that a serial monster was on the loose, people sprang into action. It was all little black children, almost all boys. Racist slanders to the contrary, white people were just as appalled as black people. Committees were formed, ribbons were worn, buttons were sold that said, “Stop the Racist Murders.” OBVIOUSLY, it was racist, right? Who in their right mind would believe that a black man had done such hideous things to black children? Then they arrested Wayne Williams

On this day in 1989, the Ayatollah Khomeini announced a fatwa calling for the killing of the novelist Salman Rushdie. His “crime” was having described Islam’s founder Muhammad in his book, “The Satanic Verses,” in a way that displeased the Islamic leader. All Muslims were called upon to kill Rushdie — basically, an international contract was put out on him. For an America that was not yet fixated on the dangers of Islamic extremism, it was a chilling moment, both frightening and confusing. As the fates would have it, that same year the United States faced its own debate

WASHINGTON -- The "Green New Deal" is upon us, and the question is what to make of it. The Democratic proposal mandates that, within a decade, virtually all fossil fuels -- which represent about four-fifths of the nation´s energy supply -- shall be replaced with clean fuels that don´t worsen global warming. Just how is this task to be accomplished? The main sponsors of the Green New Deal -- Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and Sen. Edward J. Markey, D-Mass. -- don´t say. The difficulties are made apparent by new projections of energy use between 2017 and 2050

The text of the funding bill was released last night/this morning, and lawmakers are expected to vote on the 1,169-page measure as early as this evening. The bill is disappointing in many respects, but if it had been as advertised earlier, it might have been tolerable. But my fears that senators Durbin and Leahy would trick the Republican conferees (none of whom knows the first thing about immigration policy) were realized. Standing out among the many distasteful provisions are two poison pills that I hope the Republican committee members either didn’t know about or didn’t understand. The first regards the fence.

The GOP Majority Leader in the Senate persuaded President Donald Trump to not veto the GOP’s flawed border security bill by promising to back a national emergency construction of border walls, according to insider leaks to the establishment media. The Washington Post reported that “Trump had been leaning against supporting the congressional spending bill but relented after several conversations with [Majority Leader Sen.
