Jill Abramson falls
Washington Post, by Eric Wemple

Original Article

In the prologue to her new book, “Merchants of Truth: The Business of News and the Fight for Facts,” former New York Times Executive Editor Jill Abramson addresses the organization of her look at contemporary media struggles. “The Powers That Be,” a 1979 book by David Halberstam on four media organizations, provided an organizational blueprint for Abramson’s look at the New York Times, The Post, Vice and BuzzFeed. She even writes about “copying Halberstam’s template.” Turns out that’s not all she copied. Vice correspondent Michael Moynihan in a Wednesday Twitter thread flagged a series of overlaps

“I fell short.” If Jill had added a brief, “I’m sorry but” to that line the media would never have a reason to mention it again.
“I’m sorry, honey, I forgot to buy the paprika. I know it was on the list. I just missed it, that’s all. I’ll go back and get it right now. You sure? No, I’ll go get it. No trouble at all.’

Jill is more annoying than Hillary Clinton.
That, in itself, is astonishing.
(although I watched part of the House Judiciary Committee abuses of the acting AG, yesterday, and saw some new congresscritters, female, who are nastier than Hillary or Jill.)

Instead of recalling the book, just put the word by in quotes: "by" Jill Abramson.

Letting plagiarism pass is not a mistake. It´s a habit, and a symptom of the dissipation of professionalism.

There´s a good book waiting to be written about the spectacular, Hindenburg self-immolation of journalism under the watch of the self-consciously liberal "legacy media" in the last half century.

But it won´t be written by Abramson.

Her name will be in the index.

There is no excuse for this from a writer so highly trained and experienced. She did it deliberately actually thinking her equally leftist cronies in the sagging Journalism "profession" would cover for her. She forgot how deadly the wild-wild internet is to people like her. It was inevitable she would be exposed. Just look up her bio on Wikipedia and you will see her extensive education and incredible real journalism experience. How did she get to be an Executive Editor at the prestigious (I know- not to us) New York Times if she was in fact such a bumbling amateur writer that she failed to cite her sources?

Clearly, in the profession- everyone knows she deliberately failed- it was not her just drop the ball here. Now, no publisher will risk her, no publication will take a chance on her- her professional credibility is smashed to pieces. And for a Democratic Party sycophant, that is a very good thing.

I am amused how Abramson and her publisher try to shift the blame to the people she wrote about, saying that they has a chance to review it. IT WAS ABRAMSON´s RESPONSIBILITY to turn out a quality product, even more so because of WHO she is.

It is a drumbeat that old media is better than new sources because they are "better" at their jobs. Yet, the book asserting this, written by a top person from old media, shows that, NO, they don´t do their jobs all that well; negating the whole thrust of the book.

She didn´t just fall, she imploded and drew in old media with her.

The other day all the major new outlets were covering a story about Elizabeth Warren saying on the campaign trail in Iowa that Donald Trump “might not even be a free person” but rather in jail at the time of the 2020 Presidential election. Call this phenomenon the “hypothetical news.” Donald Trump might launch a preemptive nuclear attack on North Korea. Donald Trump might withdraw from NATO. Donald Trump might fire his Chief of Staff. Donald Trump might be crazy. More subtle examples of hypothetical news are: there is “widespread concern on Wall Street” that Donald Trump might fire

On Tuesday’s show this week, Fox News host Tucker Carlson revealed that he had tried to take the Russian “collusion” accusations and the launch of subsequent investigations seriously for about three months. It is Carlson’s job as a journalist to keep an open mind for as long as possible when such a serious allegation has been made. He apparently kept that open mind for three months, until the ridiculousness of it all could not be ignored. A majority of the left, the Democrats, and their “mainstream” media arm have pounded the spurious collusion narrative for over two years.

The results of an independent investigation into the January 18, 2019 Lincoln Memorial confrontation between leftist activist Nathan Phillips, black supremacist group the Black Hebrew Israelites and students from Covington Catholic High School were released Wednesday by Greater Cincinatti Investigation, Inc. The report, which is four pages long, shows what everyone could have known initially if the time was taken to reach for context: Covington students didn´t use a single racial slur against either Phillips or the Black Hebrew Israelites and they didn´t instigate the confrontation. In fact, it was the opposite.

If there were a state that could educate Americans on politics, and what happens when virtue smacks up against raw political power, you’d have to say it’s Virginia. Illinois is broken. People flee Illinois for the same reason they flee New York: taxes. But they don’t run from Virginia. They gravitate to Northern Virginia, home to some of the wealthiest counties in the country, and all those rich lawyers and lobbyists and journos and politicos and equestrians work in Washington. These are the rulers and the palace guards, the gatekeepers and peddlers of influence. In another age, another place,

Tuesday evening the Committee to Defend the President (CDP) filed a motion in a D.C. federal court seeking to supplement the complaint it had filed against the Federal Election Committee (FEC) in April 2018. In its original complaint, the CDP alleged that the agency responsible for enforcing campaign-finance law failed to act on an administrative complaint the CDP had filed with the FEC. That complaint charged that, during the 2016 presidential election, Democrats illegally funneled approximately $84 million through the Hillary Victory Fund to the Democratic National Committee (DNC), which then illegally coordinated with the Hillary Clinton campaign.

Millions of Americans may be sorely disappointed. Unless Mueller files a detailed indictment charging members of the Trump campaign with conspiring with Russia, the public may never learn the full scope of what Mueller and his team has found — including potentially scandalous behavior that doesn´t amount to a provable crime.
