The march of the 2020 phonies begins
Washington Times, by Monica Crowley

Of the many expectations President Trump has blown to smithereens, perhaps the most basic is that a candidate has to be someone they’re not in order to win over voters. (Snip) The ruling class — they’re just like us! Except they’re not. As a candidate and as president, Mr. Trump never had to craft a public persona in order to “humanize” himself. Having been a prominent figure for decades, he had no need for public reintroduction. And having been a successful businessman, he doesn’t have the time or patience for a personality masquerade. Mr. Trump’s authenticity is self-evident. He talks like a guy from Queens —

Comments:
It nice to be reminded of the positive nature of President Trump. I´ve come to realize the importance of electing "NON"-politicians who have started out as the working class.

Highly successful people outside politics can be very effective leaders, but the culture shock of going from being a boss who expects rapid results and an obeisant hierarchy of underlings to a government populated by obstructive, opinionated and parochial bureaucracies is very frustrating.

If there was any doubt about the federal government being operated by swamp creatures, President Trump uncovered it and left no doubt.

He also exposed the RINO´s as being committed to protecting the swamp in partnership with the democrats.

I will not contribute to the RNC with the knowledge that I could be helping Collins, Murkowski and Romney.

Amazon has filed a patent application with the US Patent and Trademark Office for technology that could one day scan your face and identify who you are, use visual cues to figure out the kind of work you do, and potentially track you as you move around. The patent application, which was filed in August 2017 and made public on Thursday, offers insight into Amazon’s possible ambitions for Rekognition — its powerful facial recognition tool that the company has aggressively pitched to law enforcement agencies across the US. While a patent application doesn’t necessarily mean that Amazon plans to implement the technology

Former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld launched a presidential exploratory committee in New Hampshire Friday, making him the first Republican officially eying a longshot GOP primary challenge to President Donald Trump. “I’m here because I think our country is in grave peril,” Weld said at an announcement at a “Politics and Eggs” breakfast in New Hampshire, a frequent stop for presidential candidates. “I cannot sit quietly on the sidelines any longer.” "We cannot sit passively as our precious democracy slips quietly into darkness," he said. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency officials have halted a controversial practice that has seen nine migrants on a hunger strike force-fed through nasal tubes for weeks at a detention center in El Paso, Texas, according to reports. A spokesperson for ICE confirmed to NPR in a statement on Thursday that "no hunger strikers housed in El Paso are currently being fed pursuant to court orders at this time." The agency said there were 12 individuals participating in a hunger strike at the facility, including nine men who have been refusing to eat since late December of last year. Nine of the participants are citizens of India

“I fail to understand,” the congresswoman said at a hearing Wednesday, “why members of this committee or the American people should find any testimony that you give today to be truthful.” The politician in question was freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.). Her interlocutor was Elliott Abrams, the veteran national security official recently installed by the Trump administration as Washington’s special envoy to Venezuela. New York - U.S. discount retailer Payless ShoeSource Inc plans to close all of its approximately 2,300 stores when it files for bankruptcy later this month for the second time in as many years, people familiar with the matter said on Thursday. The move would make Payless one of the most high-profile victims of the string of bankruptcies that have hit the brick-and-mortar retail sector as more shopping is done online. Toys “R” Us and The Bon-Ton Stores are among the retailers that shut their stores in liquidations in the last 12 months. Payless had been trying unsuccessfully to find a buyer.

As a deputy chief of a civilian volunteer force, Mark Zarkin carried a gun, wore a badge and donned a police uniform. Zarkin resigned Feb. 4, hours after being interviewed as part of the newspaper´s investigation. Zarkin’s position highlights the stunning lack of oversight of police reserves in Michigan and across the country. The space agency has made hundreds of attempts to contact the rover since it powered down back in June, when dark skies prevented its solar battery from charging. Washington - Americans are seeing smaller refunds this year thanks to the 2017 tax reform -- and the Treasury Department says that´s a good thing. The average refund is down nearly 9% so far this filing season, according to updated data released Thursday by the Internal Revenue Service. Refunds averaged $1,949 through February 8, compared to $2,135 for returns filed through the same period last year. "Most people are seeing the benefits of the tax cut in larger paychecks throughout the year, instead of tax refunds that are the result of people overpaying the government," a Treasury spokesperson said in a statement.

On Wednesday, May 10, 2017, my first full day on the job as acting director of the FBI, I sat down with senior staff involved in the Russia case—the investigation into alleged ties between the Trump campaign and the Russian government. As the meeting began, my secretary relayed a message that the White House was calling. The president himself was on the line. I had spoken with him the night before, in the Oval Office, when he told me he had fired James Comey. A call like this was highly unusual. Presidents do not, typically, call FBI directors.

The GOP Majority Leader in the Senate persuaded President Donald Trump to not veto the GOP’s flawed border security bill by promising to back a national emergency construction of border walls, according to insider leaks to the establishment media. The Washington Post reported that “Trump had been leaning against supporting the congressional spending bill but relented after several conversations with [Majority Leader Sen. Mitch] McConnell, who then announced his agreement to go along with an emergency declaration.” One reason for Trump’s last-minute opposition is that congressional leaders conducted the negotiations without significant White House involvement.

Millions of Americans may be sorely disappointed. Unless Mueller files a detailed indictment charging members of the Trump campaign with conspiring with Russia, the public may never learn the full scope of what Mueller and his team has found — including potentially scandalous behavior that doesn´t amount to a provable crime.

Andrew McCabe is a national disgrace. He was part of the most corrupt and most partisan leadership team in FBI history and was fired for being dishonest under oath. And yet, America owes him a big thank-you. McCabe, you see, has reminded us once again that there really is a powerful deep state, and that there has not been a full accounting of rampant FBI misconduct during the presidential campaign of 2016. There is also still too much we don’t know about the role top aides to then-President Barack Obama and higher-ups in the Justice Department

Move over, Speaker Pelosi, and make room for New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill deBlasio as Democrats waking up to the disaster the rise of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is inflicting on the Democratic Party. She is no longer just a potential threat to their schemes and operating principles, she has taken a wrecking ball to them.
