Inside the secret Republican plot
to take down Trump in 2020

Washington Examiner, by David Drucker

Renegade Republicans determined to eject President Trump from the White House in 2020 share a commitment to the cause but are split on strategy and realistic about their long-shot prospects. Former John McCain aides, members of Evan McMullin´s independent 2016 presidential campaign, disgruntled neocons, and establishment GOPers — the only thing they agree on is a loathing of Trump. No primary challenger has yet come forward. John Kasich, former Ohio governor, has said he couldn´t beat Trump. What a clown show. I especially enjoyed reading about the plan of targeting Republican activists in the states to foment grassroots dissatisfaction about Trump. That´s the plan of the guy who oversaw Jeb Bush´s Super PAC in the last election so we know he´s a man of great vision, right? What polls are these guys reading?

This doesn´t sound all that secret, if you ask me.

We have seen the list of 68 Pubbies who voted with McConnell to buck President Trump on the troop withdrawal. They must pay! No money... no support... find candidates who will oppose every one of them. Sell-outs!!
We want our president supported because he is doing Great Work.

I think PDJT has the opportunity to convince average, everyday Americans that he really does not care about Ds or Rs, but Americans. And as such he gets our vote. As to Trump´s strategy on getting additional Senators & House members to support, I guess he has decided the way to accomplish that is to offer campaign support to those willing to support his KAGA agenda. Mainly w/b Rs, but maybe a few Ds to if they eschew the D or R party votes - like Manchin and several others on the bubble when it comes down to crunch time on particular votes.

For some reason, those politicians forget about us, the voters. They think we will fall in line with them like a bunch of sheep! Think again! I for one would not support anyone they selected with my cash or time. The Heb Bushes in their line up are dead on arrival.

The Rallies will be even larger. The Never Trumpers, like Romney, will never be president because we will never, ever vote for a Turncoat! We might even get angry enough that we primary McConnell. The professional Republicans threw the House mid-terms to the Dems to 1) Get the GOPe out of the majority; 2) Giving the radical Dems center stage for hectoring, investigating and even impeaching Trump, doing the GOPe´s heavy lifting while allowing them to keep hands clean. The object is to sully Trump, bloody his nose heading into the primaries, when a "white knight" (See Mitt Romney as most likely) will reluctantly step forward to end the Trump "nightmare".

This idea that there are "fake Republicans" or RINOs misses the obvious: These people ARE the Republican mainstream. Conservatism is supposed to be heard, not acted upon. It´s boob bait.

Learn the lesson of the Tea Party movement, which was subsumed by the "sympathetic" professionals and dispatched to a deep political grave. Hardcore tea partiers are political zombies today, with no real effective outlet but grumbling about the GOPe.

It´s refreshing to be reminded how often #23 has been eloquently and persistently right about the Republican Party. I think he´s right now as well.

The GOPe cannot be trusted. The only way to secure a conservative presence in government is to primary the Establishment Republicans who work so effectively to undermine it. If you don´t know their names, look who´s voting with Mitch McConnell against our President´s foreign policy and then look for alternatives when they come up for reelection.

With Mike Murphy in the mix, their cheerleader will inevitably be Mitt Romney. If Might Runme does in fact run, he will split the party and hand the presidency to the Democrat, just as he did in 2012.

Back in the days of the Cold War, much was said about the titanic power of the Soviet Union. The USSR, we were told, was a superpower the equal of the United States, possibly even superior. Republican Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Tom Cotton of Arkansas are right to urge that the United States government recognize Israel’s sovereignty over a section of the Golan Heights. Such recognition is long overdue. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that he is asking President Trump to recognize the legitimacy of Israel’s control of the 7 percent of the heights that it annexed in 1981 after capturing them from Syria during 1967’s Six-Day War. He made the remarks at a joint press conference in Jerusalem with U.S. national security adviser John Bolton.

There is a famous quote from George Orwell´s 1984: Who controls the past controls the future; who controls the present controls the past. The vastness of that insight cannot be overstated. As an amateur historian, I cringe at the outright lies being fed to the public, some of it by people who know they are lying. Others do it unaware. Unless these lies are addressed, political solutions to many of the world´s problems will prove impossible. Let´s start with a common innocuous lie. The story of Granada is all about the Islamic Moors.

To get a sense of how powerful freshman Congressmember (her preferred title) Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is, just look at her effect on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Specifically, look at the difference between Pelosi’s inaugural speech in 2019 and her speech in 2007, when the California Democrat was elected the first female speaker in U.S. history. Back then, Pelosi offered several tributes to American soldiers fighting in Iraq. We must honor our military, veterans and first responders as “the heroes that they are,” she graciously offered. But Pelosi’s message on Thursday was almost directly and proportionately reversed.

“Hoist with his own petard” is a phrase taken from Shakespeare and means someone destroyed himself with a weapon (a petard, that is, small bomb) intended for another. President Trump has hoisted the #NeverTrumpers on theirs and is about to do the same thing to the now irremediably lunatic Democrats. Christopher Bedard has done a brilliant job describing the downfall of the #NeverTrump scribblers. It’s worth reading it all, but here are some highlights: The Never Trumpers say they don’t recognize a Republican Party where the core tenets are neither free trade nor foreign democracy promotion.

In 2006 I wrote an international bestseller about demography. Which is harder to do than you might think. But it was leavened with Dean Martin gags and whatnot. Nevertheless, it made some big-picture points: Will China be the hyperpower of the 21st century? Answer: No. Its population will get old before it´s got rich. That´s a cute line. I´ve been using it since the dawn of the millennium and I´ve been interested to watch it catch on. A few years back, I had the pleasure of hearing Henry Kissinger use it:

We are under attack, not only from nation-states directly, but also from al Qaeda, Hezbollah, ISIS, and countless other terror groups. Move over, Speaker Pelosi, and make room for New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill deBlasio as Democrats waking up to the disaster the rise of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is inflicting on the Democratic Party. She is no longer just a potential threat to their schemes and operating principles, she has taken a wrecking ball to them. Trust me: they desperately want to be rid of her but, due to her media presence and popularity with the young and ignorant, cannot visibly stick the shiv in her back.
