EU nations endorse Venezuela
opposition leader over Maduro

Associated Press, by Joshua Goodman and Barry Hatton

More than a dozen European Union countries endorsed Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido as the country’s interim president on Monday, piling the pressure on embattled President Nicolas Maduro to resign and clear the way for a new presidential election. Maduro, for his part, stood defiant, rejecting a U.S offer of humanitarian aid that has shifted attention to Venezuela’s western border with Colombia, where opponents were gearing up to try to bring emergency food and medicine into the country.

If recent rumors that Guaido´s a Chavista have any truth to them, then his taking Maduro´s place wouldn´t represent an escape from the oppression of Socialism. Pray for the people of Venezuela.

#2 Those are far from rumors. Read some of his speeches when he was campaigning. He was, and is openly Chavismo.
Initially he claimed he lost the election because his supporters didn´t vote for him as a way to protest against Maduro (try not to laugh as you wrap your head around that one).
Juan´s ´plan´ to fix Venezuela is to rob Russia and China just like Chaves did to the US and other western countries. That is why Russia and China are scrambling to cut their losses.
I don´t have much sympathy for the people there, they chose to be disarmed, then chose Socialism, and have responded to the steady decline by demanding even more Socialism.

Even if Maduro and Guaido are both Commie thugs, Maduro is an ENTRENCHED Commie thug and Guaido is an ASPIRING Commie thug.

It´ll probably take him a couple of years to get as competent at it as Maduro is right now.

Either way, poor O-crazy-o Cortez will be heartbroken...

The people spreading disinformation always toss in code words so they can track the disinformation.
The code word in this case is the improper ´Chavista´ rather than the proper word ´Chavismo´.
Those who have been following the situation down there know to spot the tells in propaganda pieces.
Merely bothering to read a few news articles about Juan (from his supporters) before the election will tell you exactly who and what he is.
Your choice, a little research, or just believe what you are handed. If the latter, stick with CNN.

The first time I couldn’t buy food at the grocery store, I was 15 years old. It was 2014 in Caracas, Venezuela, and I had spent more than an hour in line waiting. When I got to the register I noticed I’d forgotten my ID that day. Without the ID, the government rationing system would let the supermarket sell my family the full quota of food we needed. It was four days until the government allowed me to buy more.

U.S. Masses Aid Along Venezuelan Border

The U.S. effort to distribute tons of food and medicine to needy Venezuelans is more than just a humanitarian mission. The operation is also designed to foment regime change in Venezuela — which is why much of the international aid community wants nothing to do with it. Humanitarian operations are supposed to be neutral. That´s why the International Committee of the Red Cross, United Nations agencies and other relief organizations have refused to collaborate with the U.S. and its allies in the Venezuelan opposition who are trying to force President Nicolás Maduro from power.

In what Venezuela experts call a sign of President Nicolas Maduro´s desperate attempts to cling to power, special National Police squads dressed in black masks and uniforms this year apparently began targeting protesters. Since January, more than 40 deaths – many of which occurred during the mass protests against Maduro - have been linked to the special police force, which uses military weapons and is known as the “Death Squad.” They also are known as the FAES —the Spanish acronym for the Bolivarian National Police’s Special Action Forces.

Empty labs, nonexistent funding, deteriorating equipment and an unsympathetic government: Many Venezuelan scientists say the country’s worsening political turmoil has made research virtually impossible. In the capital, Caracas, they struggle to find food and maintain personal security—their experiments a distant afterthought. Abroad, self-exiled biochemists and physicists clean houses, wash tables and give private language lessons to make ends meet. But many still cling to hope the situation will improve and they will be able to return to science.

Why Venezuela’s struggle for freedom

They’re intently watching Venezuela in Iran. The revolutionary regimes in Tehran and Caracas are birds of a feather. True, one is Islamist green, the other socialist red, but in some ways they are as similar as that blue-gold dress in the viral Internet meme of a few years ago. As it celebrates its 40th anniversary this week, the Islamic Republic faces growing internal dissent and external sanctions. Ditto for the Bolivarian Republic, born at the turn of the century and now broke and on the verge of collapse.

This week will be pivotal in the revolt against despotic ruler Nicolas Maduro. That´s because on Tuesday, Venezuelans will gather to demand Maduro´s resignation, and will also attempt to bring U.S. aid across the Colombian border. Maduro has ordered his military to stop them. So will the military fire on fellow Venezuelans? This week´s events differ from previous protests. Where previous street protests have signaled great discontent with Maduro, they have not directly challenged his control over the military.

Donald Trump’s top Latin America adviser has claimed “there is not a single scenario” in which Nicolás Maduro and his “cronies” are able to retain power in Venezuela. The revolt against Maduro’s regime is entering its forth week, with the Venezuelan strongman showing no sign of relinquishing power despite a startling and largely unforeseen challenge from a previously obscure opposition leader called Juan Guaidó. An anticipated large-scale military abandonment of Hugo Chávez’s heir has not materialized despite Guaidó – who is now recognized as Venezuela’s legitimate interim president by most western governments –

The GOP Majority Leader in the Senate persuaded President Donald Trump to not veto the GOP’s flawed border security bill by promising to back a national emergency construction of border walls, according to insider leaks to the establishment media. The Washington Post reported that “Trump had been leaning against supporting the congressional spending bill but relented after several conversations with [Majority Leader Sen. Mitch] McConnell, who then announced his agreement to go along with an emergency declaration.” One reason for Trump’s last-minute opposition is that congressional leaders conducted the negotiations without significant White House involvement.

The two hottest commodities in the Democratic Party are Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Earlier this week, Omar exhibited stunning ignorance in her hostile questioning of Elliott Adams Abrams. Similarly, Ocasio-Cortez has often displayed a surprising lack of knowledge for someone who apparently is a college graduate. The context was Amazon’s announcement that it would not, after all, build a second corporate headquarters in Long Island City, which I understand is close to, but not within, Ocasio-Cortez’s district. These abuses included working with former FBI director James Comey to set up former White House chief of staff Reince Priebus for obstruction charges, slow-walking and sabotaging the investigation of yet unseen Hillary Clinton emails found on Anthony Weiner’s computer just before the 2016 election,

And yet, America owes him a big thank-you. McCabe, you see, has reminded us once again that there really is a powerful deep state, and that there has not been a full accounting of rampant FBI misconduct during the presidential campaign of 2016. There is also still too much we don’t know about the role top aides to then-President Barack Obama and higher-ups in the Justice Department
