Patriots Ignite Political Debate On Success

American politics at the moment can pretty much be explained by what you make of the record sixth Super Bowl victory by New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, coach Bill Belichick, and owner Robert Kraft. One view of it is to marvel at, and celebrate, the hard work, risk-taking, and skill that produced the achievement. That’s the more conservative view of it. Another is to complain about it and wish the winning were more evenly distributed. That’s the more left-leaning view of it. President Trump has been cheering on the Patriots. “Never bet against Bob Kraft,

No longer follow the virtue signalling NFL and not a great fan of the Patriots, but the leftist idea of distributing championships more evenly is stupid. Participation awards are for sissies. People admire winners, regardless of their personal feelings about them. That´s what separates the adults from the Left.

Obviously a team named the "patriots" is racist and doesn´t take a knee with Kaepernick. /sarcasm
(Since they won the Super Bowl, they should have the last draft pick AND have to be managed by "management" of my once-beloved Raiders next year. hahaha)

The example of the Patriots is Leadership->Respect->Hard work->Unrelenting, despite, or even because of, setbacks.
I watch the games with my husband, although i still do not completely understand the game. What i like to do is observe body language and how in the crisis moment of the game, these men can summon a burst of collective energy and determination to push through when success seems impossible.
This is the American spirit. It has been. It´s like watching a Medieval jousting competition which tests physical and mental toughness, courage and stamina, qualities necessary to win a war, lead a people, a nation. But more is necessary, and that is love: love for family, love for the community, love for country. You can see this brotherly love amongst the Patriots.
As Bostonians, we are partial to the Patriots. But we appreciate the team cohesiveness, how the players and management pursue the goal of victory and SO VERY OFTEN achieve it!
Team success is possible by means of individual success, and that is possible because they all demonstrate mutual respect for one another. Imperfect human beings (as we all are) will make mistakes, and fail in a moment, but the Patriots have shown that in the end those "parts" are subordinated to the "whole", and the higher goal of winning.
This Super Bowl Victory is a good example for the political Parties to ponder. As things stand, sadly, the Democrats are willing to see the United States torn apart for the sake of their venal ideological ends. Republicans fight among their poltical "team-mates", unable or unwilling to put petty gripes ahead of saving the nation.
The game´s not over quite yet.

If the Left gets its way, we will all be like the N. Koreans. We will all wear the same outfits, individuality will not be accepted, we will be told by the government what to think and when to think it and exceptionalism will not be tolerated. That is what the Left´s "ideals" will bring to this country.

In last week´s story about the Harry Potter actor upset by the MAGA hat in Brady´s locker there was also a quote from him saying Brady "should stop winning things". Typical young liberal, it isn´t fair that one team (or person, or company) is consistently better than all the others.

"Even all those steps to level the playing field, though, have not prevented the Patriots from assembling their impressive collection of Super Bowl wins."
Illustrating that working together as a TEAM and keeping the focus on each individual game as an opportunity to improve means more than individual talent. Individual talents that work to build the team are the most valuable.
That is a business truth as well.

As a Crimson Tide fan, I face this issue regularly. And as Americans, we can all relate to the efforts to cut America down to size so that we can live in a "fair" world.
I´m not an NFL fan, but congrats to the Patriots. If other teams want to aspire to that level of success, let them continue to work to do so without any special assistance. And pardon me for smiling about the Rams boycotting a visit to the White House.

As the 2020 election nears, there is as yet no coherent Democratic response to the Trump agenda. If Trump himself is unpopular and polarizing, his agenda is for the most part in sync with a majority of Americans who like the 3% annualized GDP growth; near-record peacetime unemployment; record natural gas and oil production; young, scholarly and constructionist justices; pro-Israel Mideast politics; and realism about NATO laxity, the flawed Iran Deal, and the Paris Climate Accord, Chinese mercantilism, and the past inability of the U.S. to translate battlefield victories abroad into lasting security and strategic advantages.

By this point, not yet seven weeks into the current congressional term, the whole country has grown tired of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The freshman radical socialist phenom from New York’s 14th congressional district has been radically overexposed by the media. Her gaffes are getting old. Her narcissistic, defensive tweeting is tedious. And yet, the media keeps obliging her with photo ops, social media clips, and endless sound bites. They cannot look away,

There are two diametrically opposed lines of thinking about Trump-Russia special counsel Robert Mueller´s investigation. The first is that he is winding down his probe and is unlikely to allege that the Trump campaign and Russia conspired to fix the 2016 presidential election. The second is that he is still going strong, with the biggest charges, perhaps including the fabled collusion allegation, yet to come. Which is correct? No one outside the Mueller office knows. There are data points, or at least tea leaves, pointing in all directions.

There are new revelations about what took place in Washington during the extraordinary period from May 9, 2017, when President Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, to May 17, 2017 when Trump-Russia special counsel Robert Mueller was appointed. The short version is: The reports were true. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein really did discuss wearing a wire to secretly record the president. Rosenstein and others did discuss invoking the 25th Amendment to remove the president from office. And the FBI did adopt an aggressive new investigation strategy, targeting the president himself, almost instantly after the Comey firing.

On Wednesday, May 10, 2017, my first full day on the job as acting director of the FBI, I sat down with senior staff involved in the Russia case—the investigation into alleged ties between the Trump campaign and the Russian government. As the meeting began, my secretary relayed a message that the White House was calling. The president himself was on the line. I had spoken with him the night before, in the Oval Office, when he told me he had fired James Comey. A call like this was highly unusual. Presidents do not, typically, call FBI directors.

New York City Councilman Ruben Diaz Sr. is in major trouble. In fact, he may be expelled from the NYC Council. What exactly did Councilman Diaz do? Did he assault someone, commit larceny or voter fraud? Not exactly. He said the following, which is in a sense being treated worse than the above crimes: “The City Council is controlled by the homosexual community.” Diaz also stated that openly-gay council speaker Corey Johnson is married to a man. In response, Johnson demanded that Diaz apologize for his “homophobic” remarks, which “have no place in New York City.”

Sen. Kamala Harris (D., Calif.) admitted in an interview this week to using marijuana, an act that landed thousands in prison while she was California´s Attorney General and opposed legalization of the drug. The drug use admission to the "Breakfast Club" came as part of Harris´ attempt to erase the reputation she earned as a California prosecutor. She is now calling for legalizing marijuana as a first step to end the War on Drugs, but opposed marijuana legalization during both her 2010 campaign for Attorney General and 2014 re-election campaign,

It’s been astonishing to watch Bill de Blasio still prancing on the national stage, to hear his delusional musings on a 2020 presidential run and of his announced trip this Friday to the key primary state of New Hampshire, all while he remains unwilling to acknowledge this truth: For most of us, New York City under his mayoralty has become aggressively unlivable. It’s the same defiance we’re treated to on his weekly WNYC “Ask the Mayor” segments, exchanges that even the smart, affable host Brian Lehrer can’t always salvage.

Could El Chapo’s seized drug money be used to build the border wall? That’s one of the questions many are asking on Tuesday following news of the former drug kingpin being found guilty on all counts. Mexico’s most notorious drug kingpin, Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, will spend the rest of his life in prison after a jury found him guilty on all 10 counts following a three month trial. According to Breitbart, the United States has seized $14 billion from the former drug lord, which gave Sen. Ted Cruz a brilliant idea.

Rarely has a new movie become available at a time when the news made its subject matter timelier and more appropriate. Gosnell: The Trial of America’s Biggest Serial Killer is the true story of a doctor who went to prison for life in 2013 for stabbing several infants he had delivered alive inside his hellhole of an abortion clinic in Philadelphia. After being almost completely ignored by critics during its release last year, last week the movie went on sale in Walmart and on Amazon, where it is the No. 1 best-selling dramatic DVD.

Yes, Democrats want to start a new investigation into already-under-investigation Trump-Russia allegations. And yes, they want to investigate Trump associates like Michael Cohen, Roger Stone, and others. But by far the biggest thing Democrats want, now that they have the majority in the House, is to get their hands on the president´s tax returns. House Democrats want to use a 1924 law that allows any one of three entities -- the House Ways & Means Committee, the Senate Finance Committee, or the Joint Committee on Taxation -

To prove that there´s a border emergency, President Trump must stop eating omelets! Ridiculous, you might say. And yet, on this morning´s New Day, CNN´s John Avlon, Alisyn Camerota and Jeff Toobin mocked President Trump for eating an omelet, somehow suggesting it debunks the existence of an emergency. After displaying a photo of Trump at a Mar-a-Lago omelet bar, the trio engaged in this banter:JOHN AVLON: While ´emergency´ is not defined in this statute, the dictionary definition of emergency certainly doesn´t fit this. And this weekend, he´s at Mar-a-Lago at the omelet bar, also not exactly communicating urgency. CAMEROTA: Nothing

The U.S. Transportation Department announced Tuesday it would attempt to cancel $929 million in federal grant funds for California’s troubled high-speed rail project. The move marks an escalation in the war between President Trump and California in the days since Gov. Gavin Newsom announced a rethinking of the bullet train project after years of cost overruns. The Transportation Department also announced it was “actively exploring every legal option to seek the return from California of $2.5 billion in federal funds.” It’s unclear whether it has the legal authority to do so, and California would probably oppose such a move.In a
