Ralph Northam’s Cluelessness Isn’t Just
About Him. It’s About Southern
Whiteness Going Back Generations

Before he walked back his apology in his hour-long, extremely weird press conference Saturday, Democratic Virginia Governor Ralph Northam seemed to understand how deeply awful the recently surfaced, very racist photograph on his 1984 yearbook page from Eastern Virginia Medical School actually was. “This behavior is not in keeping with who I am today and the values I have fought for throughout my career in the military, in medicine, and in public service,” he said. “But I want to be clear, I understand how this decision shakes Virginians’ faith in that commitment.” I’m not sure Northam would, or should,

It didn´t take much sense way back then in our youths not to dress up in blackface or white sheet with pointy white hood. My fraternity brothers and I would have considered it unseemly. Especially myself, who at age 18 stood up to two white racist hecklers (who turned out to be Klan) trying to intimidate a black golfer friend of mine on the last hole of the 1973 Metropolitan Open (Nashville). If those (deleted) had killed me then and there, it would have been a good day to die. And I´m a racist?

Ah, I think I understand- If you can not dodge responsibility for being a jerk, if you can not deny responsibility, if you lies can get you out of the responsibility, then all that is left is to say, "Well, everybody does it!"

It is called dilution of responsibility.

The photo in question likely came from a Halloween party, where people dress up to be someone they are not.
I personally find halloween parties stupid, but I won´t limit other people´s fun.

By the 1980s blackface was an outrageous goof; it wasn´t a social crime. It was not something you would do in polite company but also not something you would be fired for wearing at a private party.

At one Halloween party in college, there were a bunch of students costumed as the recently killed space shuttle astronauts. Offensive? Yep. I hated it because the Challenger disaster upset me terribly. But it never occurred to me to file some sort of grievance then or now.

And people expecting non-goofy behavior from medical students are bound to be disappointed. While I was at College, they were the most outrageous bunch on campus. Their parties were notorious. Cadavers were often dressed up as involuntary service staff to dispense candy and whatnot.

Appalling? Again, yep. But college is the last gasp of childhood. That college students sometimes behave childishly and irresponsibly may appall us now, but there is plenty of time for regret later in life.

The social statute of limitations ends when adulthood begins. The two go together. Northam´s cluelessness is no worse than things I saw at school. And I hold no grudge or grievance for anything that happened before graduation.

No thanks Monica Potts the whites in southern United States aren´t taking the blame for a bozo democrat governor who´s past came back to haunt him.
There is a photo of Hillary Clinton in black face and Bill Clinton dressed as a country hayseed in coveralls and blacks still voted for them. The left continues to project their bad behavior on whites on the right and continue to beat a 150 year old dead horse.

Much as I dislike dims, this is getting ridiculous. Some group called the Dick Van Dyke and Julie Andrews movie Mary Poppins racist because in one number they kind of blacken their faces to look like chimney sweeps. The Virginia gov is a first class jerk and a hypocrite. What else is new? He´s smart enough to follow the example of Slick Willie who knew to just wait long enough and people will start talking about something else.

It was a better time in all our lives when "Southern Whiteness Going Back Generations" was not an abnormal or hateful thing. Racism saw its resurgence when hate mongers like the Revrums Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton were born and decided to create careers out of hatred. Now white liberals have picked up the banner because they smell money and power to be had by keeping those fires stoked. The blackface controversy is one of the stupidest ploys yet. Everybody loved Al Jolson, now it´s wrong?

Do not think for even 1 minute that the Democrat party was not aware of this photo, and decided to use it when they felt they needed to use it.

How about the media? Who likely decided to ignore this information, about a Democrat during the campaign since it likely would have lead to a Gillespie governorship.

White liberal Democrats are all about the ends justifying the means, and the justification is they wanted that office in Democrat hands above anything else.

Also, notice where most white liberal Democrats live, in areas that most of the rest of their party constituents won´t likely ever rub elbows.
Coastal areas that are expensive - how many immigrants coming across the Southern Border do you think will be in Malibu or the Upper Eastside in the coming months or years?

Perhaps Monica should learn that racism existed in northern cities too. Also, check out black racism in northern cities. If a white person blunders into the wrong part of town, they will be attacked. Not to mention BLM, Black Israelites, Congressional Black Caucus, and others. Further, it not just racism against whites, but against Jews too.

Liberals would do well to try bringing people together, instead of continually stirring the racial pot!

I’m not a Southern man. In fact I’m a woman who was raised in the Great Lakes region. But I do have a sense of history. I had to read twice the author’s assertion that the American South and the U. S. In general has never atoned for its racist past. Perhaps she hasn’t heard of the Civil War and Reconstruction. There was Jim Crow but there was also a vanquished, impoverished and war-torn South complete with Carpetbaggers and a post-war host of unsavory and bloodthirsty opportunists. The U.S. is a different country than it was 100-160 years ago. Reparations have been made several times over in welfare payments, affirmative action, outreach programs and the general preferential treatment of blacks called diversity. The modern-day villains or Carpetbaggers are the so-called champions of this hodge-lodge of financial redistribution schemes who try to shame Americans who had no part in any conscious effort to hurt blacks nor could they have because they weren’t alive yet. I’m not sorry to see a white Democrat go down for poor taste but I know that’s all it is. Payback, however planned by other conniving Democrats, is sweet. But it is also time to admit that black people are not universally kindhearted, well-intentioned saints who just want to be given a chance. The black race in the U.S. today has its own set of American heroes and leaders. But there are also a lot of criminals, irresponsible parents, bitter racists and no-account leeches who are costing the country dearly. Black people of common-sense and good faith to deal with them before continuing the project of perfecting whites which is really just taking their money and never acknowledging progress.

That it was outrageous is reason he and his date did the joke costume. Prince harry dressed as a Nazi caused a furor when he was in early 20´s?

That Northam put on his special page is the puzzler. I would assume that he got a lot of mileage out of the costumes.

The U.S. Transportation Department announced Tuesday it would attempt to cancel $929 million in federal grant funds for California’s troubled high-speed rail project. The move marks an escalation in the war between President Trump and California in the days since Gov. Gavin Newsom announced a rethinking of the bullet train project after years of cost overruns. The Transportation Department also announced it was “actively exploring every legal option to seek the return from California of $2.5 billion in federal funds.” It’s unclear whether it has the legal authority to do so, and California would probably oppose such a move.In a

CBS journalist Lara Logan on Friday unleashed a blistering, uncensored attack on the extreme liberal bias polluting America´s news outlets. Logan derided the “horses**t” “propagandist” press that had no interest in fairness. Appearing on Mike Drop, the podcast of former Navy SEAL Mike Ritland, the foreign affairs correspondent and occasional 60 Minutes reporter berated slanted coverage in a way rarely seen by those in the mainstream press: “We’ve become political activists in a sense. So, a question for all of the above. Why did you believe Jussie Smollett? Let’s try to catalogue the red flags. Had you ever heard of Jussie Smollett before the alleged January 29 attack?
