Trump Deserves Credit for China’s
Changing Stance on Trade

American Greatness, by Tony Shaffer

Original Article

Posted By:earlybird, 1/12/2019 9:30:04 AM

President Trump is gaining the advantage over China in his long-term trade strategy, proving the naysayers wrong with his decision to use tariffs as leverage. When Donald Trump first introduced his aggressive trade policy and imposed targeted counter-tariffs to push back against China’s rampant trade manipulation, most of the so-called experts remained skeptical. President Trump’s strategy was deemed too dangerous by commentators, who also predicted that it would be powerless to contain China’s economic aspirations. The president never wavered, though—and his commitment has paid off faster than anyone could have predicted.

The tariffs gave China a much needed cash infusion at a time when they were selling off assets, including T-bills, to stay solvent by significantly improving the trade balance in China´s favor.
That China would reward Trump for helping them out that way is to be expected.

The cut in tariffs against US autos from 40% to 15% is a good start, will make US cars much more affordable in China.

Winning.

Of course, NeverTrumpers will carefully explain how it is a big win for China. What a joke.

Ahh the ´Never Trump´ card.
Like the race card, always pulled when the facts aren´t on your side.
Trump knew the tariffs would increase the trade deficit (and they did, look it up), not only is he not an idiot, he has very smart economic advisors at his side.
This helped Trump as he needed to sell $1.3trillion in T-bills to cover the deficits he signed at a time when China was shedding T-bills due to a cash crunch.
It was considered a win-win. T-bill rates stayed low while still attracting buyers, and China´s cash flow problem was resolved.

MEXICO CITY — Another migrant caravan is forming in Honduras, with plans to set out next week on a journey that will once again test the immigration policies of Mexico and the United States. In much the way last year’s Central American caravan originated, a flier is circulating on Honduran social media. “We’re looking for refuge,” it says. “In Honduras, we are being killed.” It advertises a 5 a.m. departure on Jan. 15 from the northern city of San Pedro Sula. The Mexican government says it is preparing for the group’s arrival.

Kim Jong Un was in Beijing this week as U.S. trade officials met with their Red Chinese counterparts. Behind the talk of tariffs and trade deficits, the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula loomed. A war that began 68 years ago nears its end. The American press is ignoring it, instead nattering on about nonsense. The big headline in the Washington Post today was, "Trump has concealed details of his face-to-face encounters with Putin from senior officials in administration." So what? President Trump does not report to them -- they report to President Trump. Basic civics are beyond the

Trump plan would improve

One remarkable feature of the debate over the situation on the U.S.-Mexico border is how little some commentators seem to know about what the Trump administration is doing. Pundits regularly get facts wrong. Talking heads engage in passionate arguments over dubious premises. Confusion reigns. Much of the blame goes to the commentators themselves, who do not appear to have tried very hard to find out what is going on. But some blame also goes to the administration, starting with President Trump himself, which has often been unclear about its plans. So here, in the interest of clarity,

Some interstates in Missouri, including I-70 and I-44, reopened Saturday morning after being shutdown Friday night, but treacherous conditions continued.

As for Hayes, he delivered a monologue, which concluded with the assertion that the Trump base wants “an ethnically pure America.” Hayes deserves no credit for originality when it comes to resorting to the “racist” talking point. In recent weeks, cable news personalities have compared President Trump to Adolf Hitler and argued that the idea of a wall comes
