The Shutdown
PJ Media, by Richard Fernandez

Original Article

As the government shutdown took its toll, Washington DC assumed the unfamiliar aspect of a city going through hard times. “It’s like a ghost city — totally dead. ... When other parts of the country suffered during the Great Recession, the area around the nation’s capital boomed.” But now the shoe is on the other foot. (Snip) The question everybody is asking is: who will blink first? Trump or Congress. It seems apparent that neither can afford to. It has been evident for some time that the Left will settle for nothing else but the president´s

This is total claptrap about how DC is suffering. That is a big lie, and it should not be written, and published.

My nephew works for a company that does contract work with the federal government. He is not working now due to the shutdown. I doubt he will receive back pay when this is over like the federal workers.

This is going to really hurt people when they miss their second paycheck.

I´ve been in the workplace all my life as an employee as well as self employed ... and have not retired yet.
There´s no guarantee whether a W-2 or 1099 that we will get paid when we expect to be paid. Anything can happen at any time. That´s life.

The Democrats don´t care about peoples paychecks. In fact, they want to steal from everyones paycheck by raising taxes.

Regarding this shutdown, the finger needs to be pointed straight to one person...
Nancy Pelosi.
She´s created this mess by not comprising. She should not talk about immoral.

Yes Nancy, get ready for consequences.

Hopefully the leftist and liberal career lawyer-politicians in DC who are in charge of the Democrats will figure out pretty soon that they are messing with a junkyard dog who has no intention of caving for them and not past pretty wimpy Republican Presidents.

Real question is what will be required to reach a compromiss? For ex, Trump gets $3.5 billion rather than $5.7 billion while 2 million or more DACA types receive easy pathway to citizenship? And, since Trump’s wants $5.7 to start the barrier but requires another $20 billion + to complete it, will all 20 million illegals already here be granted amnesty to come out of the shadows that they were never in?

While President Trump is adamant about the Wall, the herd of RINOs who occupy the House and Senate will be pressuring him for a compromise. Since politics is the art of deceiving about your compromise, the next few weeks are going to be interesting.

Maybe the government can cut some costs and save some money, by shutting down Nanny P´s high dollar/ booze flight home. And all members of Congress can fly economy, to show how much they care for the little folks. And a pox on this back-pay stuff. They´re not working, so what are they going to get paid for, sucking at the public teat?

Flaws with a "Green New

One of the hottest topics in policy wonk circles is the “Green New Deal,” spearheaded by the rising star of the progressive Left, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. In my previous post, I explained that the entire premise of a current New Deal—whether green, red, or blue—was flawed. Even on standard Keynesian terms, it makes no sense to embark on a $1 trillion government spending program with official unemployment below 4 percent and the Fed raising rates to rein in price inflation. Worse, historically the actual New Deal under Franklin Roosevelt prolonged the nation’s suffering, making the Great Depression linger for a decade.

WINTER PARK — Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Thursday that he has asked the Legislature to change the law to allow smoking medical marijuana. If it doesn’t by mid March, he’ll drop the state’s appeal of a court decision that says banning it violates a constitutional amendment. Against a backdrop of lush green in Winter Park — the hometown of attorney and medical marijuana champion John Morgan — DeSantis added that he plans to drop appeals in several other cases regarding limited licensing and vertical integration, which requires medical marijuana companies to grow, manufacture, sell and market their own product. “What the

Walls, Nancy Pelosi tells us, are immoral. Also, they don’t work. Which ostensibly is why the Democrats have gone to the mat over Southern border security. Of course, the idea that walls “don’t work” flies in the face of common sense and experience. So the Daily Caller has initiated a “Walls Across America” project. Caller reporter Benny Johnson goes from place to place, pointing out that when leftists want to protect themselves, their families and their property, what do they use? Walls. Johnson first tried to check President Trump’s statement that Barack Obama’s house is protected by a 10-foot wall.

What makes Jordan Peterson so popular? There are scores of popular pundits who attack political correctness, many with more aplomb than the professor of psychology at the University of Toronto. The estimable Mark Steyn comes to mind, or Heather Mac Donald, or Dennis Prager, among many others. Dr. Peterson, though, is the people´s choice as champion against PC madness for the time being. A full 80% of Americans think that political correctness is

Scare the public to get their attention- truth be damned! The world, for all its imperfections, is in a much better shape then we might think. That doesn’t mean there aren’t real concerns. But when we worry about everything all the time instead of embracing a worldview based on facts, we can lose our ability to focus on the things that threaten us most. In large part, it is because of our negative thoughts, our instincts to notice the bad more than the good. We are subjected to a never-ending cascade of negative news from across the world. So says

It is now obvious that for two and a half years, Democrats and their friends in the deep state have been peddling an elaborate hoax: the spurious charge that President Trump conspired or colluded with the Russians to win the 2016 election. The entire enterprise from the beginning was always about defeating Trump -- either by planting smears in the media in 2016 to prevent his election or if that didn´t succeed, by doubling down on the investigation in an effort to keep the president from uncovering their election-year espionage malfeasance. Florida’s State Board of Administration is preparing to present findings at the end of the month on whether the popular tourism service should be placed on a state list of scrutinized companies that boycott Israel, DeSantis said Tuesday. Administrators have not yet made a recommendation to the State Board of Administration’s board of trustees,

When Titus said ‘No,’ he replied, ‘Yet it comes from urine.’” This sentiment has been summarized in the proverb, “Money doesn’t stink.” Currency, in other words, is morally neutral. Nancy Pelosi has asked Donald Trump to put off his State of the Union speech to the joint session of Congress until after the funding issues have been resolved: (Copy of Letter/Tweet) And with that, the new Speaker of the House just made the best case possible for a perpetual shutdown.
