Trump’s New Shutdown World
Wall Street Journal, by Kimberley A. Strassel

Original Article

Posted By:StormCnter, 1/11/2019 7:54:09 AM

This weekend the federal shutdown becomes the longest in history—and yet, and yet, the sky has not fallen. Meet the team that has allowed the Trump White House to hold out for so long, and in the process forever altered future shutdown fights. Across the street from the Oval Office, an only somewhat merry band of budget lawyers labor on one priority: making this event as painless as possible. That was the order from President Trump when the government closed, and the Office of Management and Budget was ready. Acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney

I think she got the wrong president. It was Smidgen who ordered everyone to make his shutdown as painful as possible. PDT hasn’t hired guards and put up barriers around historical sites which are open 24/7 with no Park Service rangers in attendance on a daily basis.

As far as I can tell, almost no one has even noticed the shutdown. On my daily errands and business dealings, not a single person has even mentioned it.

I admit that I quit reading after Strassel made that statement.

#1, Think you read that wrong," making this event as PAINLESS as possible."
Anyhow, still haven´t noticed shut down.

Why is government necessary? It isn´t!!

#1, she points out that Barack Obama did the exact opposite of Trump´s "painless as possible" orders. She also emphasizes that Trump´s administration people and aides worked hard to alleviate or avoid the pain where it could be done in various agencies.

Were government employees concerned about the economic shutdown during Soetoro´s reign?
Not that I could tell.
I would like to see Trump tell all these people to start looking for real jobs. The nationalized parks etc... could be handed over to the states, airport security to the airlines and so on.
Then next year another shut down and more chaff to the wind.

The mention of turning National Parks over to states would guarantee the parks falling into disrepair and closing. States waste money and I´ve seen one state park closed and now looks like a landfill today. Rest areas on the interstate were closed because there was no money to maintain them although it was spent on democrat dreamy endeavors.
The longer the shut down goes we might find out the government wastes money on duplicate jobs that aren´t needed.

I thought this was an excellent article, #1, if you´d read it to completion.

All in all, PDT is showing America that Washington isn´t the place to find its happiness and forever funding. Over 330 million people are still working. More than ever before--for the private sector. Under Obama, only the government sector grew. So, I´d say PDT is proving the point that Washington DC and all its tentacles could use some trimming back.

MAGA!!! KAG!!! Neva give in. Neva give up, Mr. President!

Elizabeth Holmes appeared to know exactly what she needed to do. It was September 2017, and the situation was dire. Theranos, the blood-testing company that she had dreamed up more than a decade ago, during her freshman year at Stanford, was imploding before her very eyes. John Carreyrou, an investigative reporter at The Wall Street Journal, had spent nearly two years detailing the start-up’s various misdeeds—questioning the veracity of its lab results and the legitimacy of its core product, the Edison, a small, consumer blood-testing device that supposedly used a drop of blood to perform hundreds of medical tests.

Shortly after New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy proposed steep tax increases last year, his Texas counterpart, Greg Abbott, wrote an op-ed in New Jersey’s biggest newspaper inviting residents to consider moving to the low-tax Lone Star State. Mr. Murphy countered with a piece in the Dallas Morning News touting the new investments his government planned as a reason for Texans to come north. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo recently attempted to stir up a similar feud, complaining to President Trump that low-tax Florida is “stealing” his state’s population. These face-offs between states are part of a larger national debate

Major League Baseball’s preseason games begin Thursday. But nothing that happens on or off any diamond is likely to match the most downright delirious day in spring-training history. It did not involve balls and strikes. In 1937 the St. Louis Cardinals—the famed Gashouse Gang—were returning to their Florida hotel, the Tampa Terrace, after a game against the Cincinnati Reds. They were still in uniform. Dizzy Dean, the Cardinals’ ace pitcher, was accompanied by his wife. She had been heard complaining about a sportswriter named Jack Miley of the New York Daily News.

He was “Big Newk” in every way. Don Newcombe, who died Tuesday at age 92, was the biggest guy on the field, as the 6-4, 225-pound pitching ace of the 1950’s “Boys of Summer” Dodgers in Brooklyn, who became the first of only two players in baseball history to win Rookie of the Year, Most Valuable Player and Cy Young Award honors – and was likewise a big man off it, as a pioneer in breaking down racial barriers in baseball and later as the game’s foremost spokesman on alcohol and drug abuse. During his 1949-56 prime with the Dodgers,

For the last two years, millions of Americans have come to view Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein as a kind of national insurance policy. This assessment is now in need of revision. Rosenstein is the guy who appointed Special Counsel Robert Mueller to investigate whether Russia tried to interfere in the 2016 election a week after President Donald Trump fired FBI Director James Comey. As the president rages on Twitter, Rosenstein is seen as the avatar of what one anonymous administration called the “steady state” — the resistance to Trump from within.

It was 1982 and he was on a retreat with his classmates from St. Lawrence, a Roman Catholic seminary for teenage boys training to become priests. Leaders asked each boy to rank which he would rather be: burned over 90 percent of his body, paraplegic, or gay. Each chose to be scorched or paralyzed. Not one uttered the word “gay.” They called the game the Game of Life. The lesson stuck. Seven years later, he climbed up into his seminary

Even in a world overrun with awards shows, the Oscars remain the grandest prize, and a Best Picture victory cements filmmakers and actors’ place in history. It also means that, for the rest of time, a lot of people will complain that your movie wasn’t that great and should have lost to some other movie they felt was eminently more deserving. The Green New Deal that Democrats unveiled last week has a grand ambition to eliminate fossil fuels in 10 years, retrofit every building in America, and guarantee high-paying jobs in the bargain. If you want to see how that works in the real world, consider the public housing projects near Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s New York office. The New York City Housing Authority (Nycha) has a more modest goal of a 30% reduction in greenhouse-gas emissions by 2027. As part of its plan, Nycha is switching to LED lighting, which lasts longer than incandescent bulbs and consumes less energy.

This news actually unraveled a far bigger story of corruption, however. As it turns out, a political group helping Ocasio-Cortez´s campaign had already paid Roberts during the campaign — and those payments from that shady organization may be the reason Ocasio-Cortez is in Congress today.
