NYT Uses Tiny New Mexico Town
to Claim There’s No Border Crisis

Washington Free Beacon, by Charles Fain Lehman

Original Article

Posted By:earlybird, 1/11/2019 7:10:07 AM

Somewhere along the United States´ 2,000-mile border with Mexico is a town unconcerned by what President Donald Trump has called a border "crisis," and the New York Times is on it. "On the Border, Little Enthusiasm for a Wall: ‘We Have Other Problems That Need Fixing,´" the Times reported. The source for this claim is not polling data, but rather interviews primarily with residents of the tiny town of Columbus, N.M.

Comments:
Population: 1609. Speaking for the entire 2000 mile border. The NYT thinks that is adequate, while saying the border is long and varied.

One local bemoans a labor shortage and said they should have more illegals.

Clearly the residents of the town of Columbus, NM (and the NY Times) don´t remember what Pancho Villa did in 1916.

What are the "other problems that need fixing"? I don´t read the Slimes so I don´t if they were mentioned or not. If that small border town has had one illegal drug related death or one dwi by an illegal then they have a border problem may not be a crisis but it will become one someday. I live near Houston and we have drunk illegals killing and maiming American citizens almost weekly. I´m surprised that the Slimes didn´t find a small town in northern Alaska that claims "there´s no border crisis" Fake News at its finest!

New Mexico isn´t and never has been the border crossing place of choice. Once you crossed the border in NM, there´s literally nothing ahead for miles except wilderness, desert and mountains This is why there´s less of a problem in New Mexico. The illegals want to get to somewhere fast.

Here´s the truth about Columbus New Mexico. I have been there camping a few times there´s a state park there, one store, one Mexican restaurant and a railroad museum. All the people around there besides residents are Border Patrol and state workers Park Rangers at the campground. Going north up the road is a massive Border Patrol roadblock then approximately 18 more miles is the first large town of Deming. A person if they are not caught has to go 30 miles through cactus on foot to get to Deming. I did see illegals in the Rockhound State Park in Deming once using the restrooms and washing then on the hiking trails with small children in tow. Many automobiles with Mexico plates go through the area into Deming and Las Cruses to shop but they have to go through the road block.
The New York Times cherry picked this sleepy town because most of the crossing is west toward Bisbee Arizona on open uninhabited land but it´s still wild in that area but no wall just Border Patrol on horseback and trucks for support.

Come camping with me boys.
I´ll bet you will not be able to sleep for fear. Weenies.
Where I love to go will no longer be fun once the wall is up. The view shall be destroyed.
There is nobody within 50 to 100 miles of my campsites. Nobody but Mexicans on the other side of the River. Yes. They cross. I do too.
Never asking permission. The nearest hospital will be, at least 120 miles away so be careful.

Once we have a wall a lot of beauty and a lot of freedom dies. Enforce the LAW. All the rest is {gag, spit} politics.

Trump should fix the democrats by giving them exactly what they want. He should announce that Chuck and Nancy convinced him that it would be in America´s best interests to declare the border with Mexico wide open and immediately disban ICE and the Border Patrol. Use the money collected to put up huge signs declaring, "Bienvenido a Los Estados Unidos!"

Then announce his retirement, sit back and watch the sparks fly. But then he´s a nicer guy than me. /S of course

Smuggling of illicit drugs and illegal aliens into the USA has been a major unlawful industry operating in and around border towns for many generations. So anyone there who has profited either directly or indirectly from such smuggling activities is bound to oppose an effective borderline barrier that blocks those crimes and profits from continuing. Most illegal aliens who crossed the borderline there unlawfully, were not destined to Columbus, NM, but we’re headed for interior cities and only spent a few hours in so-called “drop houses” in the Columbus area until they were picked up by illegal alien transporters and taken to interior locations.

Everyone knows that a chain is only as good as its weakest link. Thus, America´s borders define USA´s sovereign territory and so MUST be protected & defended. There are elderly people living along the N.M. border right now who used to routinely, easily & safely visit their relatives on Mexico´s side of the border but now they are afraid to because it is too dangerous due to the drug cartels.

The dire situation all along the southern border is tragic in so many ways. The only way to restore civility and peace is to enforce the law!

Key Findings Coming on Mueller

WASHINGTON — Attorney General William Barr spent Saturday reviewing the special counsel’s confidential report on the Trump-Russia investigation, but Barr’s “principal conclusions” summary for Congress was not coming for at least another day. No summary for Judiciary Committee leaders — or the public — just yet, said a senior Justice Department official, speaking only on condition of anonymity because the person wasn’t authorized to publicly discuss the review process. Barr has said he expected to send his version to the lawmakers as soon as this weekend after determining what should be made public.
