The Return of the Lost Generation
American Thinker, by Byron Lafayette

You may have heard the term "The Lost Generation," made famous by a group of writers in the early 20th century. Its members were most notably Ernest Hemingway and Gertrude Stein, who, some say, coined the phrase. This generation comprised the young men and woman who had returned from the carnage of World War I and met the new challenge of domestic life in the ´20s and ´30s. This generation was noted for its restlessness, lack of direction, and great confusion. A theme that filled Lost Generation literature of the time was the frivolous wealth of the upper crust. Millennials are not a lost generation, they are a loser generation. Hardship for them is a barrista spilling their $10 double latte funicello at a Starbucks. Try two tours in Vietnam and get back to me......

Nonsense. This generation´s "problems" stem from thinking it makes any sense at all to go many thousands of $$ into debt to study stupid stuff--like "Womyn´s Studies" and expect to get a good job.

We will always need doctors, engineers, computer scientists, nurses, accountants, etc. Young people who understand this will do well in life.

Their biggest financial problems in the future will be supporting the gimmes who expect "free" healthcare, student loan forgiveness, a universal basic income, and everything else that the leaders of their generation are promising.

Both my boys endured hardships, my divorce, and were taught the value of money and work. They have real jobs because they worked to make themselves marketable. They have real wives and children, because that´s what they wanted. They also have real problems, as everyone does, not imaginary ones.

The reason this has happened is that their parents paid more attention to them, than advancement of careers or possessions in this materialistic world.

The article is depressing.

While 9/11 was a scary wake up call to the dangers of terrorists, there has been little threat here since. Incidents, yes. Grave threat to the Country, no. I am not looking over my shoulder every minute expecting disaster. I know bad things could happen but I don´t live my life waiting for them. 9/11 doesn´t frame my life.

2008 financial problems were certainly troubling. Down times have happened in the past. We got over them. 2008 was exacerbated by a president and congress that did just about everything wrong that they could to undermine an economic recovery. The lesson learned is that politicians can screw things up; ESPECIALLY dem politicians. However, the Country has great potential.

We are now the strongest economic power in the world and barring dems messing it up are likely to stay so for a while. We are energy independent. Everyone that wants a job is working. Pay is rising. Many terrorists threats are crushed.

If you are depressed about all this, you have a personal problem.

Could things be improved? Sure. The strivers among us will accomplish those changes. Those stivers gave us fracking and drilling improvements that made us energy strong. The worriers lectured us about running out of oil and draconian conservation efforts.

The author says they were handed a "bum deal". I think they were handed challenges. Winners overcome challenges. Whiners mumble about bum deals.

Lost generation? Could it be due to the fact that liberals are taking God out of school? I have to say if I had children today, I would make certain that they would have a Life Application Study Bible. Wisdom comes from God - why would you not want to equip your child with a resource like that?

Really? This is BS.

I see a pity party, "Nobody has had to endure the horrible hardships that we poor millenials have had to endure. Woe is us."

Bullhockey. You have seen nothing significant and if you get off your butt and get a good education, you are set, will easily be employed your whole life.

Spare me the pity party. Not impressed that millenials are anything except self-absorbed whiners - including this guy.

Walt Disney Co. Chief Executive Bob Iger has scaled the mountain. Through a series of sure-footed moves, Iger has worked tirelessly to position Disney as the world’s preeminent entertainment company. Now he is closer to realizing his vision as the Burbank giant late Tuesday finalized its $71.3-billion purchase of much of Rupert Murdoch’s 21st Century Fox. The acquisition is the boldest — and riskiest — of Iger’s 14-year stewardship of Disney. It’s the culmination of an expansionist strategy that has guided Iger as he has transformed the storied company through a series of takeovers that made Disney the home of

The number of Freedom of Information Act requests the Environmental Protection Agency received from mainstream outlets such as the New York Times and Washington Post spiked immediately after Republican President Donald Trump took office, according to a Free Beacon analysis of FOIA requests by the media from 2013 to the present. The figures, obtained through the government´s FOIA online database, reveal a clear increase in requests for information from the agency once Trump was elected president. The New York Times, for example, made just 13 FOIA requests during the four years of Obama´s second term, sending 3 in 2013, 1

President Trump defended the electoral college on Tuesday following calls by presidential hopefuls Elizabeth Warren and Beto O’Rourke to abolish the system. “The brilliance of the Electoral College is that you must go to many States to win,” Trump tweeted on Tuesday night. “With the Popular Vote, you go to… just the large States – the Cities would end up running the Country.” The statement came one day after Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat, said during a CNN town hall event that she would back a plan to scrap the process and move to a national popular vote. “My view is

In the 1800s, adulterated milk was common. Milk produced by swill herds, as muckraking journalist Robert Hartley wrote in 1842, was "very thin, and of a pale bluish color," the kind nobody in their right mind would buy. So distillers added flour, starch, chalk, plaster of Paris, or anything else they could get away with to make the milk look healthy. This adulteration only increased the bacteria in milk that we today would consider undrinkable. The common theme in adulteration is that you pay for A but they give you B. It´s not what you want. When the closing gavels came down on the 2016 political conventions, the news cycle did not ease into the usual midsummer lull but instead locked directly into a state of high alarm, with Donald J. Trump at its center. In the days following Trump’s nomination, there came reports of senior Republican officials considering ways to replace him on the ballot (ABC News), of “suicidal” despair inside the Trump campaign (CNBC), and of a growing list of Republican leaders who planned to publicly support Hillary Clinton (Time). Fox News reported that friends of Trump’s were planning to stage an intervention, involving
