Media had no problem calling it a
border ´crisis´ in 2014 under Obama
Washington Examiner, by Eddie Scarry    Original Article

Both Democrats and most news media are yelling as often as they can that there is no border "crisis," even though they spent the last year telling everyone there was and even though they had no problem explicitly calling it a "crisis" in 2014, when the situation was the exact same as it is now. "We now have an actual humanitarian crisis on the borer that only underscores the need to drop the politics and fix our immigration system once and for all," then-President Barack Obama said in the Rose Garden in 2014.

No, this isn´t a new lunar rover you´re looking at, or a Star Wars creation. But Hyundai´s new walking car concept for CES is just about as otherworldly. Called the Elevate, this futuristic vehicle—which is entirely hypothetical at this point, mind you—has four wheels mounted on robotic legs that can move around in all sorts of different configurations to traverse essentially any terrain you can imagine. The legs, which have articulating hips, knees, and ankles, can be programmed to move in a variety of different ways. It starts off with stuff we´ve seen before—passive

I must admit that I didn’t see Tuesday’s political histrionics from Washington in real time, as life intervened (I was at a college basketball game watching Alabama lose YET AGAIN), so I had to play a bit of catchup late last night and throughout the day. But the exchange between President Trump and his would-be tormentors Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi amid the current government shutdown appears to have been pretty laughably one-sided. It doesn’t take a partisan Republican to see that. The President didn’t yell or scream, he didn’t throw any bombs, and he didn’t come off as the same guy

Iran has been caught causing

The nuclear deal was supposed to chart a new course for Iran. But the Tehran regime remains as it ever was, including when it comes to committing acts of terror in Western homelands. Just don’t expect Europe to reconsider its policy of preserving the nuclear deal at any cost. This week, the Dutch government confirmed that Iran’s intelligence ministry was behind two assassinations in the Netherlands — of Ahmad Mola Nissi in The Hague in November 2017 and Ali Motamed in Amsterdam two years earlier. In this case, the mullahs allegedly hired Dutch gangland types to carry out the murders.

If you had told me as recently as a month ago that I´d ever be backing up Kevin Hart, I would´ve thought you were crazy. I´ve endured several of his movies because of social obligations, and the only one I really liked was Jumanji, mostly because it was an ensemble comedy and contained a smaller percentage of Kevin Hart than usual. He´s one of the reasons I´m eternally grateful for the Mute button. I don´t begrudge the man his success, but so far I´ve been content with aiding his career by staying out of the way.

Drugs and syringes have become such a problem in

Starbucks is installing boxes for safe disposal of syringes in the bathrooms of certain locations, following workers´ reports of discarded needles and sometimes concerning conditions. The coffee giant is exploring possible remedies after employees expressed fears about being pricked by uncapped needles and experiencing related health risks. Starbucks is testing solutions including installing sharps-disposal boxes, utilizing heavier-duty trash bags to prevent needle pokes, and removing trash cans from certain bathrooms. "These societal issues affect us all and can sometimes place our partners (employees) in scary situations, which is why we have protocols

President Trump started a little slowly tonight, but picked up steam and finished very, very strong. He holds a winning hand: there is indeed a crisis at the Southern border. Illegal immigration is a huge problem. It is the number one reason why Trump is president, and the issue is stronger today than it was two years ago. Trump’s closing was very strong, talking about Americans who have been murdered and otherwise brutalized by illegal immigrants. Democrats are utterly unconcerned about this fundamental security issue, just as they are unconcerned about drugs and MS-13. The Democrats’ response was delivered

There is indeed a simmering crisis at our southern border. It is not an influx of terrorists, and Trump administration representatives have tripped themselves up by trying to make the numbers show large numbers of suspected terrorists caught at the border. It is not a wave of immigrants from Mexico as in the past, so the fact that migration from Mexico is close to net zero doesn’t have the significance that the media wants to attribute to it. It is an ongoing surge of minors and families from Central America that we are ill-equipped

Cancer Deaths Decline 27% Over 25 Years

Deaths from cancer dropped 27% over a quarter century, resulting in an estimated 2.6 million fewer cancer deaths during that period, according to a new report from researchers at the American Cancer Society. For most of the 20th century, overall cancer deaths rose, driven mainly by men dying from lung cancer, researchers noted. But since the peak in 1991, the death rate has steadily dropped 1.5% a year through 2016, primarily because of long-running efforts to reduce smoking as well as advances in detection and treatment of cancer at earlier stages, when prognosis for recovery is generally better.

The Democratic response to President Trump’s speech by Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Nancy Pelosi quickly got ripped apart online, as jokesters mocked the way they spoke while standing close together behind a small podium wearing scowls. “Yikes. I like Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi but they gotta work on the whole ‘not looking like villains from the next bond movie’ thing next time,” said Twitter user Dan Luke. “Why are Chuck and Nancy every pair of white suburban parents who just witnessed you shotgun a coors light while home for break?”

When things get serious, you can always count on Democrats to put the best interest of the country ahead of everything. Just kidding. Instead, when the chips are down, you can expect Democrats to pull stunts — pointless, crude and childish. That´s just what two California Democrats did on Wednesday, making a show of bringing boxes of garbage collected at a national park during the government shutdown, which began December 22. Reps. Jackie Speier and Jared Huffman went out to Golden Gate National Recreation Area on Saturday and helped volunteers pick up trash. On Wednesday, the two House members brought

You´ve heard of "Movember," you´ve heard of "Dressember," but have you heard of "Januhairy"? According to People, the trendy new movement that encourages women to let their body hair grow unabated for over a month has become quite the "it thing" on social media. Started by Laura Jackson, a drama student at the University of Exeter in the U.K., the movement seeks to liberate women from the uncomfortable constraints of shaving. She originally began growing out her hair in preparation for a role, however a few weeks later she began to really appreciate her own body hair and decided to

Recently, the mainstream media gleefully reported something that many at first dismissed, quickly passing it off as nothing more than a transient morsel of cultural trivia, if not fake news. Allegedly, a recent Gallup Poll not only bestowed upon Michelle Obama the honor of being The Most Admired Woman in 2018,but also thereby declared her to be more popular than Hillary and Oprah! I would suggest this news might represent an ominous bellwether of measurable import to all of us who are hoping to see President Trump elected to a second term.

An episode of a 1950s Western TV series has resurfaced because of its surprising parallels to real-life. Trackdown, which ran for two seasons between 1957 and 1959, had an instalment called “The End of the World” that featured a rabble-rousing doomsayer named Trump who scares the townsfolk by claiming disaster is on its way. He believes he’s the only one who can save them, and his method is... to build a wall. Dialogue in the episode, which starred Robert Culp, finds one character pleading with a law enforcer to “stop” Trump from “taking the down”. On Tuesday evening, President Trump addressed the nation from the Oval Office regarding the “crisis of the heart and crisis of the soul” at our Mexican border. Emphasizing the need to fund a border wall and end the government shutdown, the president mentioned not only the threats posed to Americans by the drugs and criminals crossing our border, but also the humanitarian crisis created by an influx of women and children who are victimized or treated as pawns by the coyotes who illegally shuttle them into our country.By far the most head-scratching response came from Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., who
