My Eye on ´Black Eye´
Power Line, by Scott Johnson

Original Article

Posted By:Pluperfect, 1/11/2019 5:08:30 AM

The new Fox Nation subscription service posted the documentary Black Eye: Dan Rather and the Birth of Fake News at 6:00 a.m. (Eastern) this morning. The documentary revisits the Rathergate scandal from its origin in the 2000 presidential campaign to the 2015 film Truth and slightly beyond. I have now watched the documentary and want to offer a few notes with my impressions on it for what they may be worth.(Snip)The documentary overlooks Dan Rather’s 2012 memoir Rather Outspoken to the same effect. Rather seethes with hatred for Republicans and conservatives. Despite his fake September 20, 2004 apology

Hate-crime hoaxers beware, the law does not

If the latest apparent hate-crime hoax of the the Trump era is what it looks like, it isn´t merely a story of a desperate actor doing something insane. It´s a story of today´s progressive identity politics and how it elevates group victimhood to the highest of virtues. (Snip)At the heart of both deceptions is a postmodern belief system whose central tenet is that one’s racial and social identity supersede truth and reality. According to this intersectional system of thinking, the distinction between not only good and evil but also between fact and fiction is determined not based

Twitter Firestorm Emerges Over
1971 John Wayne ´Playboy´ Interview
Daily Caller, by Celine Ryan    Original Article

Forty years after his death, John Wayne’s views on race and homosexuality have suddenly sparked a firestorm of tweets from users who believe his comments are somehow representative of America as a whole in the Trump era. After a viral tweet began to circulate over the weekend, highlighting portions of a famous 1971 Playboy interview, the phrase “John Wayne” was trending on the platform by Tuesday evening as users found their feeds flooded with both outrage and confusion at the new-found relevancy of the interview. The tweet highlighted particularly jarring portions of the interview

For Sens. Kamala D. Harris and Cory A. Booker, Democratic presidential candidates who were promoting an anti-lynching bill, the “attack” on actor Jussie Smollett in Chicago looked like a horrible yet opportune talking point. Instead, the apparent hoax is turning out to be a warning to 2020 Democratic candidates about singling out people for martyrdom, including the woman who accused Supreme Court Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh of sexual assault and the drum-banging American Indian who confronted Catholic high school students on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. In the rush to speak too soon about the Smollett

With the new year still very much ahead of us, it´s far too early to say what will turn out to be the most annoying trend of 2019 — the decluttering mania and the Alliance of American Football both look very promising so far — but I have my own early candidate — in the literal sense of someone not named Donald J. Trump who says he´s running as a Republican for the presidency of the United States of America in 2020. If you don´t know who Bill Weld is, it´s probably because you were neither a resident of Massachusetts

A federal judge ruled Tuesday that a lawsuit filed by an advocacy group hoping to halt construction of former President Barack Obama´s $500 million presidential center on Chicago´s South Side can proceed. U.S. District Judge John Robert Blakey, who was nominated to the federal bench by Obama in 2014, ruled that Protect Our Parks has standing to sue the city because it represents taxpayers with concerns that providing land in Jackson Park to the Obama center violates their due process rights. The judge indicated that he doesn´t want the litigation to drag on,

Like Comey and Brennan, McCabe
finds impetus of Trump probe ´inarticulable´
Fox News, by Dan Bongino    Original Article

Did you notice how, during the Andrew McCabe interview with "60 Minutes," the former FBI acting director kept talking about “articulable facts?” Like ex-CIA boss John Brennan and disgraced former FBI Director James Comey, McCabe was coining his own phrase to explain why the intelligence community started spying the Trump team. But the justification for mounting a probe should not lie in weasel words. It belongs in something known in law enforcement circles as “Paragraph One.” Paragraph One in federal investigations lays out precisely why the investigation began and how. You can’t skip over it with fanciful phrases or empty verbiage.

Last week, there was the pitiful scene of Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York begging President Trump to restore a tax provision which unfairly benefitted New Yorkers. It seems that many high-income New Yorkers have been moving their tax homes to Florida, undermining the New York tax base. Those who live in New York City may be paying state and local income tax rates, in addition to the federal tax, of over 12 percent, giving some an overall tax burden of approximately 50 percent. Florida imposes no state and local income taxes in addition to the federal income tax —

The “we reported the Jussie Smollett case responsibly” contention has been blasted to smithereens. Twitter accounts and headlines in the Washington Post, the New York Times, and the Los Angeles Times reported as fact Jussie Smollett’s wildly implausible allegations, and many other journalists did so as well, not to mention the innumerable activists and celebrities who piled on. So, a question for all of the above. Why did you believe Jussie Smollett? Let’s try to catalogue the red flags. Had you ever heard of Jussie Smollett before the alleged January 29 attack? Do you think it likely

Andrew McCabe’s book is titled The Threat: How the FBI Protects America in the Age of Terror and Trump, as if to say Trump is part of the terror. The real upshot of the book is that the politicized ranks of the FBI under James Comey and McCabe were too afflicted with Trump Derangement Syndrome to protect America from real threats. Those ranks took their eyes off real threats and concocted a phony one about Trump and Russia, behaving like members of a cult who turned to retaliation after their dear leader fell in a wholly justified firing.

Hoda Muthana, a 24-year old American woman who left the US to join ISIS 5 years ago, is really sorry and wants to come home. We shouldn’t let her. It should be obvious that when someone takes up arms against their country that they have committed treason and should never be allowed to return. Yet our friends across the pond are proving obvious it isn’t. Britain is having a raging debate about whether they should allow back their own homegrown terrorist, Shamima Begum, who ran away to join ISIS four years ago.

The Jussie Smollett Incident

Had the alleged attack on Jussie Smollett actually taken place, it would not have told us much about the racial situation in America. That it apparently was a hoax also doesn’t tell us very much about the racial situation in America. This is a point that is being missed, but that lies at the center of how the news media managed to bungle this story so embarrassingly. Before exploring why the incident was not a very important story, regardless of its veracity, it must be made clear that the news media did in fact botch this badly.

Just as I happened to miss the entire NFL season again this year, I recently missed the Stacey Abrams Show that followed President Trump’s marvelous State of the Union (SOTU) speech two weeks ago. An American jihadi bride living in a refugee camp after fleeing ISIS´s last stand in Syria is begging the US to allow her to return home. Hoda Muthana, 24, left Hoover, Alabama in 2014, in order to join ISIS in Syria, where she would later call for US Muslims to ´spill all of the blood´ by launching terror attacks during Memorial Day events. To prove that there´s a border emergency, President Trump must stop eating omelets! Ridiculous, you might say. And yet, on this morning´s New Day, CNN´s John Avlon, Alisyn Camerota and Jeff Toobin mocked President Trump for eating an omelet, somehow suggesting it debunks the existence of an emergency. After displaying a photo of Trump at a Mar-a-Lago omelet bar, the trio engaged in this banter:JOHN AVLON: While ´emergency´ is not defined in this statute, the dictionary definition of emergency certainly doesn´t fit this. And this weekend, he´s at Mar-a-Lago at the omelet bar, also not exactly communicating urgency. CAMEROTA: Nothing

Warren was asked about the CBS’s “60 Minutes” interview with former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, who claimed Justice Department officials discussed invoking the 25th Amendment. Warren said, “I’m not the one who hangs out in his office and who sees him everyday and sees how well or how poorly he able to manage from day to day with the decisions he

Watching Fox News host Chris Wallace plying his trade lately on “Fox News Sunday” may leave viewers with the notion he’s working hard to impress liberal colleagues in the media. And when those liberals start praising Wallace, well, not only is it a good sign that he’s succeeding in his quest, it should also serve as notice to the Fox News host that he may want to reassess his approach. Case in point, MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart praised Wallace after Sunday’s interview of White House senior adviser Stephen Miller on President Trump‘s declaration of a national emergency on the southern border.

Democratic socialist Rep. That Ocasio-Cortez thinks the border wall is "like the Berlin Wall" suggests she knows very little about history and concepts of border security. Conservative CNN host S.E. Remember conservatism? Limited government? You know, your principles?” she asked in frustration.

AL-OMAR OIL FIELD BASE, Syria — More than 300 Islamic State militants surrounded in a tiny area in eastern Syria are refusing to surrender to U.S.-backed Syrian forces and are trying to negotiate an exit, Syrian activists and a person close to the negotiations said Monday. The development comes amid the Islamic State group´s last stand in the village of Baghouz, where militants are hiding among hundreds of civilians and preventing them from leaving. It also will likely further delay a declaration on IS´ territorial defeat that U.S.-backed Syrian forces

A lot of Americans are justifiably angry that disgraced FBI official Andrew McCabe is doing a book tour rather than a stretch in some federal penitentiary. He has committed perjury on multiple occasions, participated in an attempt to alter the outcome of a national election, and colluded with other rogue bureaucrats to remove a duly elected president from power. But there is a bright and shiny silver lining to this dingy cloud of deep state skullduggery: Donald Trump still resides in the White House while Hillary Clinton stumbles around her Chappaqua mansion in a muumuu hugging a fifth of Glenfiddich.
