Media had no problem calling it a
border ´crisis´ in 2014 under Obama

Washington Examiner, by Eddie Scarry

Original Article

Posted By:Pluperfect, 1/11/2019 4:55:18 AM

Both Democrats and most news media are yelling as often as they can that there is no border "crisis," even though they spent the last year telling everyone there was and even though they had no problem explicitly calling it a "crisis" in 2014, when the situation was the exact same as it is now. "We now have an actual humanitarian crisis on the borer that only underscores the need to drop the politics and fix our immigration system once and for all," then-President Barack Obama said in the Rose Garden in 2014.

This is no different than what President Trump said from the Oval Office on Tuesday.

Looks similar, but is really the opposite.

Back then the ´crisis´ in the media´s narrative was that our door wasn´t open wide enough for everybody to easily get in. The lib media have been globalism´s escorts, accompanying the issue everywhere, clearing a path for it whenever it encountered resistance, and prodding it forward whenever it paused or stalled.

Why Beto is a Beta

Beto O’Rourke is about to launch a presidential campaign off the back of a failed Senate bid. He’s not the first to do so – Abraham Lincoln famously followed exactly that path to the White House. But nobody else is Lincoln, and Beto is hardly anyone at all: as a contender for the 2020 Democratic nomination, he’s the ‘not’ candidate. (Snip)His path to the White House, if he has one at all, leads through the graveyard: if Beto does well enough to merit a place on the ticket as running mate to almost-octogenarians Joe Biden (who turns 77 this year)

The US is suing Volkswagen, accusing the German carmaker of "massive fraud" over the diesel emissions scandal. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) claims the firm misled investors by issuing billions of dollars worth of bonds and securities, without disclosing that it had cheated emissions tests. Volkswagen´s former chief executive Martin Winterkorn is also being sued. The company said it would contest the SEC lawsuit vigorously. VW first admitted in September 2015 that it had used illegal software

For fair-minded observers, this has been a bad week for the credibility of the two most aggressive (and punitive) “watchdogs” of the right — Media Matters and the Southern Poverty Law Center. Thanks to Peter Hasson at the Daily Caller News Foundation, we discovered the stunning hypocrisy of Media Matters president Angelo Carusone. The man who helms an organization that combs through the past of every conservative public figure looking for evidence of hate and bigotry has his own history of hateful posts. And now the SPLC faces its own internal challenge. Yesterday, the SPLC fired

Voter rights doesn’t mean

Felons. Sixteen-year-olds. Noncitizens. Let ’em all vote. Serial killers? Slip them a ballot, too. We’re literally giving away votes. The Democratic-controlled House, driven by partisan zeal, is going to ridiculous lengths to increase its political power by opening up the right to vote to just about any living, breathing human — as long as they vote Democrat. The latest display came on a meaningless Republican resolution with a pretty simple goal — embarrass Democrats into rejecting this language: “It is the sense of Congress that allowing illegal immigrants the right to vote devalues the franchise and diminishes the voting power of United States Citizens.”

Americans have long dreaded the “Big One,” a magnitude 8.0 earthquake along California’s San Andreas Fault that could one day kill thousands of people and cause billions of dollars in damage. The Big One, though, is a mere mini-me compared with the cataclysm forming beneath the Pacific Northwest. Roughly 100 miles off the West Coast, running from Mendocino, California, to Canada’s Vancouver Island, lurks the Cascadia Subduction Zone, where the Juan de Fuca Plate is sliding beneath the North American Plate, creating the conditions for a megathrust quake 30 times stronger than the worst-case scenario along the notorious San Andreas,

A federal court of appeals in New York on Monday took the first step in unsealing documents that could reveal evidence of an international sex trafficking operation allegedly run by multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein and his former partner, British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell. The three-judge panel for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit gave the parties until March 19 to establish good cause as to why they should remain sealed and, failing to do so, the summary judgment and supporting documents will be made public. The court reserved a ruling on the balance of the documents

CARACAS/SAN CRISTOBAL, Venezuela - Venezuela´s opposition-run congress on Monday declared a "state of alarm" over a five-day power blackout that has crippled the OPEC member country´s oil exports and left millions of citizens scrambling to find food and water. As Beto O’Rourke moves closer to a presidential run, the unconventional way he’s spent the four months since losing his Senate bid (Metallica concerts! Road trips! Viral Instagrams!) is raising some concerns in the Democratic Party, as I wrote about today with my colleague Matt Flegenheimer. But there’s another, perhaps slightly less-covered piece of Mr. O’Rourke’s rollout story: Female Democratic strategists have grown increasingly frustrated as they’ve watched Mr. O’Rourke jump on his single-speed bike, read his emotional posts from his road trip and seen him slip into the premiere of a documentary about his Senate campaign.

Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe said Sunday morning that he was surprised by the “incredibly lenient” sentence received by former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort. A federal judge last week sentenced Manafort to 47 months in prison for tax and bank fraud — a punishment clocking in well below the 19½-24½ years that he could have received under sentencing guidelines. District Judge T.S. Ellis repeatedly argued the recommended sentence was over-the-top. “I think it’s an incredibly lenient sentence in light not just of the offenses he was convicted for

President Trump often complains that he is the victim of "presidential harassment" — or, as he sometimes puts it, "PRESIDENTIAL HARASSMENT!" "Presidential Harassment by ´crazed´ Democrats at the highest level in the history of our Country," Trump tweeted on March 3. "After more than two years of Presidential Harassment, the only things that have been proven is that Democrats and others broke the law," he added later. "PRESIDENTIAL HARASSMENT! It should never be allowed to happen again!" he tweeted Feb. 7. The president´s adversaries of course dismiss his protests as self-interested whining. But the fact is, Trump has a point.

The comments triggered complaints from Democratic operatives and activists, many of them women, that female candidates could never similarly joke about their roles raising their children.

When Democrats lost to a non-politician in 2016, they could not swallow the failure and began to degrade their opponent´s victory (by manufacturing "Russia collusion"), insult people who voted for the winner (calling them racist), and assassinate the character of the winner (calling him a dictator). To make the case for the third act, they invented a story that Donald Trump likes dictators and wants to be one and will not leave office if not elected in 2020. But his actions show the opposite. According to deposition transcripts released this week, Steele said last year he used a 2009 report he found on CNN´s iReport website and said he wasn´t aware that submissions to that site are posted by members of the public and are not checked for accuracy. A web archive from July 29, 2009 shows that CNN described the site in this manner:
