Watch Hyundai´s Bizarre Walking
Car Concept Crawl Like a Lizard

Car and Driver, by Joey Capparella

No, this isn´t a new lunar rover you´re looking at, or a Star Wars creation. But Hyundai´s new walking car concept for CES is just about as otherworldly. Called the Elevate, this futuristic vehicle—which is entirely hypothetical at this point, mind you—has four wheels mounted on robotic legs that can move around in all sorts of different configurations to traverse essentially any terrain you can imagine. The legs, which have articulating hips, knees, and ankles, can be programmed to move in a variety of different ways. It starts off with stuff we´ve seen before—passive

I want one. Think of the annoying drivers you could just step over and walk around. Also the flooded highways you could just walk through.

There will be a big demand in the cities going around trash. Probably more useful than driverless cars.

It´s almost like Hyundai slept with Boston Dynamics, whose mule and dog robots were amazing but creepy.

Can´t wait to see what Elon Musk designs to sustain his chief geek image. We´re nearing the edge of practical and will cross the line into the fantastically stupid soon. (Capability for its own sake, with the purported applications becoming ridiculously implausible. Sci-Fi at its best.)

That is a REALLY COOL idea!
Just think of winter in New England and not needing snow plows on the roads. All the car eating salt , no longer required. Just hop into it and "walk" to work.

Beto O’Rourke is about to launch a presidential campaign off the back of a failed Senate bid. He’s not the first to do so – Abraham Lincoln famously followed exactly that path to the White House. But nobody else is Lincoln, and Beto is hardly anyone at all: as a contender for the 2020 Democratic nomination, he’s the ‘not’ candidate. (Snip)His path to the White House, if he has one at all, leads through the graveyard: if Beto does well enough to merit a place on the ticket as running mate to almost-octogenarians Joe Biden (who turns 77 this year)

Volkswagen and former boss

The US is suing Volkswagen, accusing the German carmaker of "massive fraud" over the diesel emissions scandal. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) claims the firm misled investors by issuing billions of dollars worth of bonds and securities, without disclosing that it had cheated emissions tests. Volkswagen´s former chief executive Martin Winterkorn is also being sued. The company said it would contest the SEC lawsuit vigorously. VW first admitted in September 2015 that it had used illegal software

For fair-minded observers, this has been a bad week for the credibility of the two most aggressive (and punitive) “watchdogs” of the right — Media Matters and the Southern Poverty Law Center. Thanks to Peter Hasson at the Daily Caller News Foundation, we discovered the stunning hypocrisy of Media Matters president Angelo Carusone. The man who helms an organization that combs through the past of every conservative public figure looking for evidence of hate and bigotry has his own history of hateful posts. And now the SPLC faces its own internal challenge. Yesterday, the SPLC fired

Felons. Sixteen-year-olds. Noncitizens. Let ’em all vote. Serial killers? Slip them a ballot, too. We’re literally giving away votes. The Democratic-controlled House, driven by partisan zeal, is going to ridiculous lengths to increase its political power by opening up the right to vote to just about any living, breathing human — as long as they vote Democrat. The latest display came on a meaningless Republican resolution with a pretty simple goal — embarrass Democrats into rejecting this language: “It is the sense of Congress that allowing illegal immigrants the right to vote devalues the franchise and diminishes the voting power of United States Citizens.”

Americans have long dreaded the “Big One,” a magnitude 8.0 earthquake along California’s San Andreas Fault that could one day kill thousands of people and cause billions of dollars in damage. The Big One, though, is a mere mini-me compared with the cataclysm forming beneath the Pacific Northwest. Roughly 100 miles off the West Coast, running from Mendocino, California, to Canada’s Vancouver Island, lurks the Cascadia Subduction Zone, where the Juan de Fuca Plate is sliding beneath the North American Plate, creating the conditions for a megathrust quake 30 times stronger than the worst-case scenario along the notorious San Andreas,

A federal court of appeals in New York on Monday took the first step in unsealing documents that could reveal evidence of an international sex trafficking operation allegedly run by multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein and his former partner, British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell. The three-judge panel for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit gave the parties until March 19 to establish good cause as to why they should remain sealed and, failing to do so, the summary judgment and supporting documents will be made public. As Beto O’Rourke moves closer to a presidential run, the unconventional way he’s spent the four months since losing his Senate bid (Metallica concerts! Road trips! Viral Instagrams!) is raising some concerns in the Democratic Party, as I wrote about today with my colleague Matt Flegenheimer. But there’s another, perhaps slightly less-covered piece of Mr. O’Rourke’s rollout story: Female Democratic strategists have grown increasingly frustrated as they’ve watched Mr. O’Rourke jump on his single-speed bike, read his emotional posts from his road trip and seen him slip into the premiere of a documentary about his Senate campaign.

A federal judge last week sentenced Manafort to 47 months in prison for tax and bank fraud — a punishment clocking in well below the 19½-24½ years that he could have received under sentencing guidelines. District Judge T.S. Ellis repeatedly argued the recommended sentence was over-the-top. “I think it’s an incredibly lenient sentence in light not just of the offenses he was convicted for

President Trump often complains that he is the victim of "presidential harassment" — or, as he sometimes puts it, "PRESIDENTIAL HARASSMENT!" "Presidential Harassment by ´crazed´ Democrats at the highest level in the history of our Country," Trump tweeted on March 3. "After more than two years of Presidential Harassment, the only things that have been proven is that Democrats and others broke the law," he added later. "PRESIDENTIAL HARASSMENT! It should never be allowed to happen again!" he tweeted Feb. 7. The president´s adversaries of course dismiss his protests as self-interested whining. But the fact is, Trump has a point.
