Watch Hyundai´s Bizarre Walking
Car Concept Crawl Like a Lizard

Car and Driver, by Joey Capparella

Original Article

No, this isn´t a new lunar rover you´re looking at, or a Star Wars creation. But Hyundai´s new walking car concept for CES is just about as otherworldly. Called the Elevate, this futuristic vehicle—which is entirely hypothetical at this point, mind you—has four wheels mounted on robotic legs that can move around in all sorts of different configurations to traverse essentially any terrain you can imagine. The legs, which have articulating hips, knees, and ankles, can be programmed to move in a variety of different ways. It starts off with stuff we´ve seen before—passive

Comments:
I want one. Think of the annoying drivers you could just step over and walk around. Also the flooded highways you could just walk through.

There will be a big demand in the cities going around trash. Probably more useful than driverless cars.

It´s almost like Hyundai slept with Boston Dynamics, whose mule and dog robots were amazing but creepy.

Can´t wait to see what Elon Musk designs to sustain his chief geek image. We´re nearing the edge of practical and will cross the line into the fantastically stupid soon. (Capability for its own sake, with the purported applications becoming ridiculously implausible. Sci-Fi at its best.)

That is a REALLY COOL idea!
Just think of winter in New England and not needing snow plows on the roads. All the car eating salt , no longer required. Just hop into it and "walk" to work.

Al Sharpton is being heavily courted by Democrats seeking his endorsement as they pursue the 2020 presidential nomination, but he said he won´t make a decision on who he´ll support for at least a year. The liberal civil rights activist and MSNBC host has met with a flurry of possible 2020 contenders in recent weeks, including Sens. Kamala Harris (D., Calif.), Cory Booker (D., N.J.), and Kirsten Gillibrand (D., N.Y.), and he´s planning to speak soon with former Rep. Beto O´Rourke (D., Texas), the Atlantic reported. Sharpton has become a mainstream figure in the Democratic Party, in sharp contrast

The FBI’s ‘Trump treason’ probe flunked civics

The FBI took it upon itself to determine whether the president of the United States is a threat to national security. No one had ever before thought that this was an appropriate role for the FBI, a subordinate agency in the executive branch, but President Trump isn’t the only one in Washington trampling norms. The New York Times reported the astonishing news. “Counter-intelligence investigators,” the paper writes, “had to consider whether the president’s own actions constituted a possible threat to national security.” US presidents over the decades have made many foolhardy decisions that have undermined our security; never before have they

Gov. John Kasich, R-Ohio, took office as a Tea Party hero, unafraid of the union bosses and welfare lobbyists who would fight his efforts to shrink Ohio´s bloated government. He leaves as an honorary union member who was inducted to a hospital lobbying group’s Hall of Fame. Kasich beat incumbent Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland in 2010 by promising to deliver job growth with smaller government, labor reform, and opposition to Obamacare. Kasich “was in the Tea Party before there was a Tea Party,” he said during the campaign, leveraging a reputation for fiscal conservatism built

Despite the fact that President Trump has fired almost every big gun he has, his battle with congressional Democrats over funding the construction of a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border has been stalemated. He will probably lose the fight. The partial government shutdown, the longest ever, is in its fourth week. Despite his fondness for governance by Twitter, Trump made his first ever Oval Office speech on Tuesday night intending to rally Americans to his cause. The speech lasted less than ten minutes, and in delivering it Trump’s performance was lackluster. He didn’t exhibit any of the passion

In December 2014, a university student from Saudi Arabia was arrested in Monmouth and accused of raping a classmate after giving her marijuana and shots of Jack Daniel’s. Bail was set at a half-million dollars. The judge ordered the student, Abdulaziz Al Duways, to turn over his passport to the private defense lawyer hired to represent him, according to court records and the Polk County District Attorney’s Office. A few days later, an official from the Royal Consulate General of Saudi Arabia in Los Angeles posted bail. Al Duways disappeared. The case preceded a similar one recently reported by The Oregonian/OregonLive

Republicans and Democrats may be sniping at each other over the partial government shutdown, but it’s the Libertarian Party which is putting words to action. Libertarians have organized multiple national park cleanups over the last week to show maybe the government isn’t needed to provide services. Libertarian Party National Committee Chair Nicholas Sarwark sees it as a real opportunity. As Libertarians, we advocate replacing federal taxpayer funding for many services with private charity or privatization. We wanted to show how this could be accomplished by volunteering in our local communities.

California´s largest utility company said on Sunday its chief executive had resigned as the firm faces billions of dollars in potential liabilities tied to the state´s deadly and destructive wildfires last year. Geisha Williams announced her resignation from PG&E amid growing concerns over the company´s role in the devastating Camp Fire, which killed at least 86 people and destroyed more than 18,800 homes and buildings. Williams, who took the helm in 2017, will be replaced temporarily by the company´s general counsel, John Simon, until a full-time chief executive is hired.

On Friday night, the New York Times published what was clearly intended to be a blockbuster report that, following the firing of FBI director James Comey on May 9, 2017, the bureau formally opened an investigation of President Trump. But in truth, the only thing the story shows is that the FBI, after over a year of investigation, simply went overt about something that had been true from the first. The investigation commenced during the 2016 campaign by the Obama administration – the Justice Department and the FBI – was always about Donald Trump. We have to remember:

It’s not a joke to say Republicans have an uncanny knack for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Of all the things the GOP excels at, this tops the charts. So as the longest partial shutdown of the government in history rolls on, it’s important to take a moment to check the status of things and game out how things could go. And, believe it or not, Republicans could actually end up with money for a border wall (or barrier, whatever) if only they ignore all their natural instincts and stand strong. Liberals tell us that ordinary citizens have no reason to own firearms. If they had their way, they would ban private gun ownership. Failing that, they would require anyone wanting to buy a firearm to justify the purchase by showing some kind of special need. Kristin Kasiskas is a public school science teacher who lives, with her husband, in northwestern Wisconsin. I don’t suppose the Kasiskases would have been able to demonstrate any special need to own firearms, but in rural Wisconsin it would be reasonable to assume that they had a gun or two in the house.

Saturday marks the 22nd day of the government shutdown, the longest closure in American history. And with neither Democrats nor the White House budging from their positions, and the president threatening to keep the government closed for months or years, there’s no end in sight. Which is all the more remarkable in light of how the shutdown began—or rather how it almost didn’t. As the nation approached the end of government funding in late December, President Donald Trump was on the verge of giving in. Then he reversed course, announced he’d shut down the government, and hasn’t blinked since.

In only 5 more days of the already-“longest government shutdown in history” (25 days and counting, as of today), a heretofore obscure threshold will be reached, enabling permanent layoffs of bureaucrats furloughed 30 days or more. Don’t believe me that federal bureaucrats can be laid off? Thus, the story goes, there was a basis to begin the Russia collusion investigation. The former Fox News host lasted just 18 months at NBC News, but Page Six learned during the course of her negotiations

The Fight for $15 isn’t living up to its promise. For years, liberals have claimed that the minimum wage needs to increase to $15 an hour to provide a living wage for full-time workers. The stated goal, as socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders writes on his website, is straightforward, “We must ensure that no full-time worker lives in poverty.” In one way, the campaign has been remarkably successful. California and New York are phasing in a statewide $15 an hour minimum wage. Numerous cities, including Seattle, Minneapolis and Washington D.C., have passed $15 an hour minimum wage

Gillette´s new ad, browbeating men through a #MeToo and "toxic masculinity" pitch, supposedly to persuade men to buy their razors, is so revolting it´s possible to think it´s satire. There is also a 30-second version, which doesn´t even seem to be about selling razors: Seriously, did a spy from Schick get into the Procter & Gamble´s advertising agency and concoct an ad very sure to turn potential customers off? Who would want to buy that after such a string of insults? Isn´t ad rule number one to not insult the customer? Well, this one does.
