City Council bill would require chains

New York Post, by Yoav Gonen

Fast-food fans are going to have to slow down to read all the warning labels on the menu if legislation introduced Wednesday in the City Council becomes law. A bill authored by Councilmember Mark Levine would require chain restaurants to post warning notices next to each food item that contains more than 12 grams of added sugar. That’s in addition to the postings already on the books for high sodium content and calorie counts. “No city has done this yet, but New York is backsliding in the fight against obesity and diabetes, and helping people improve their diet

Comments:
Just when you think lawmakers aren´t doing their job, they come out with this.
Here´s an idea for them: require warnings on guns that they can cause harm or death.

There needs to be a warning on the doors of most all city councils.

The Lo-Fo´s that vote these liberal idiots in, most likely can´t read, and wouldn´t read the warnings if they could. Just more control.

This is the usual do nothing BS we have come to expect from goobernment. As if signs and postings will change one´s hunger. IF liberals had their way, to be healthy, nobody (except of course good liberals) would ever eat a morsel of food untilled they died. Two liberal goals would be met. One, control other people´s lives and two eliminate their lives in the name of saving the planet. One wonders how the human race survived before liberals ame along and told us how to live.

Since there are approximately 20 million functional illiterates who won´t be reading this warning... but I´m glad the council is keeping themselves occupied and out of worse mischief.

I have yet to see anyone other than myself read the labels on food in the supermarkets I frequent and that includes restaurants like McD that post their calorie count on their boards.

When it comes to sugar, the more the better for me. I crave sugar and my blood sugar runs low so while it may make me fat it doesn´t give me any ailments as most seem to believe is a given. All people are not alike in the way they process food.

In Cuomo/De Blasio country, their voters assume that government simply MUST be involved in every facet of human life. Remember Obama´s "Julia" character where government insinuated itself into her life, from cradle to grave? Liberals say, "it´s for your own GOOD."
Portland, Seattle, Frisco, Denver, LA? The story´s much the same. City Councils used to perform some important functions. Now their most important functions
involve interfering in your life because "They simply KNOW what´s best for YOU."

President Trump and other top administration officials have tried to stoke fears of terrorism to back their claim that there is a security “crisis” on the Mexican border — but the feds stopped just six immigrants at the border who were on a list of suspected terrorists. US Customs and Border Protection encountered only a half-dozen immigrants on the US-Mexico border in the first half of fiscal year 2018 whose names were on the feds’ list of known or suspected terrorists, NBC News reported, citing CBP data. Police spokesman Detective Jeremy Silbert says the unloaded rocket launcher was turned in Monday, Dec. 17. News outlets report interim commissioner Gary Tuggle said Friday that the city had spent $163,000 so far on the first two events last week.

The mother of a 7-year-old girl who died while in US custody this month was too despondent to attend her daughter’s funeral in an impoverished mountain village in Guatemala on Christmas Day. Friends and relatives took turns carrying Jakelin Caal’s white casket along a muddy road in San Antonio Secortez to a tiny cemetery — some 2,000 miles from where she died in an El Paso, Texas, hospital on Dec. 8. Religious songs were played at the gravesite, where about 150 people gathered. But it was too much for her mother and grandfather, said her uncle Jose Manuel Caal, 33.

The bar wasn’t open to the public, I was told, but was for members only. I could, however, fill out a membership application, pay a fee, and then order my bourbon without a hitch. An elementary school principal in Nebraska was placed on leave after telling teachers to avoid decorating their classrooms with Christmas-themed ornaments so as not to offend those who don’t celebrate the holiday. The principal at Manchester Elementary School, identified by Fox affiliate KPTM as Jennifer Sinclair, sent out a memo earlier this week with guidelines as to what is considered appropriate for classroom decorations and assignments. Teachers reportedly were told that generic winter-themed items, such as sledding and scarves, and the “Frozen” character Olaf, were acceptable.

Dump the eggnog and strip the lights from the Hanukah bush, because the #MeToo movement is coming for holiday fun. #MeToo, which started out as a righteous campaign to stamp out sexual harassment and predation, has gone stark raving bonkers. Its latest target: the innocent, consensual kiss underneath the mistletoe and a beloved duet that celebrates it. The charming ditty “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” is all about heterosexual flirtation and attempted seduction. Penned by Frank Loesser in 1944, it’s been covered by the likes of Bing Crosby, Idina Menzel and Michael Bublé, among many others.

Don’t believe me that federal bureaucrats can be laid off? The Fight for $15 isn’t living up to its promise. For years, liberals have claimed that the minimum wage needs to increase to $15 an hour to provide a living wage for full-time workers. The stated goal, as socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders writes on his website, is straightforward, “We must ensure that no full-time worker lives in poverty.” In one way, the campaign has been remarkably successful. California and New York are phasing in a statewide $15 an hour minimum wage. Numerous cities, including Seattle, Minneapolis and Washington D.C., have passed $15 an hour minimum wage
