Democrats Introduce Bill Expanding
Background Checks on Gun Sales

Wall Street Journal, by Kristina Peterson

Original Article

Posted By:StormCnter, 1/9/2019 8:10:50 AM

Democrats’ long-pledged push to tighten the country’s gun laws will take center stage when lawmakers introduce legislation Tuesday aimed at expanding background checks on gun sales. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.), Rep. Mike Thompson (D., Calif.), who leads a task force focused on reducing gun violence, and former Rep. Gabby Giffords (D., Ariz.) will officially unveil the legislation expanding background checks to more commercial sales and private transfers, with the goal of flagging people with criminal or mental-health histories that disqualify them from gun ownership.

That didn´t take long.

Like other useless bills to follow this will die at the Senate´s doorstep. PDT won´t have to bother.

They want more information on purchasers that correlates to using the firearm for violence, and then using that data to restrict sales to people with a higher percentage risk factor. I see...
So are they adding “Race” to the application form?

I´m wondering whether "military experience" or "law enforcement experience" are going to be considered risk factors at some point.

Those conditions already disqualify an honest person from purchasing a weapon. If a crook wants to buy a weapon he can find anybody on the street who will sell him one because both parties have no problem breaking the law.

The democrats have one goal, to define all conservatives as "crazy" and that´s their expansion.

Anyone remember in Obamacare a doctor could ask if you owned or had a gun in your house. The doctor could then diagnose you as mentally unstable, like being a veteran with PTS disorder. This put you at risk of being a felon if you lie on the form and then you become a criminal trying to legally purchase a firearm.
The Marxist think they are clever and McConnell in the Senate better shelf this bill unless a gun tragedy happens like a liberal Sanders voter shooting up a bunch of Republicans playing baseball but switch the party affiliation and it sails through.

They might have done better to enforce reporting of criminals, the mentally unstable, military court findings, etc. for people, especially since many recent attackers should have been on the list and kept from purchasing. The list is only as good as the effort to fill it in.

In some of these cases, no background check was done. Maybe Democrats should introduce a bill to require the government employees to do their jobs.

I think the key words, and the thing they are trying to slip in one way or another, are ´private sale.´ Right now there is no requirement for me to get a background check if I buy a gun from another private individual who is not in the business of selling firearms. That makes those firearms hard to pinpoint when the day of confiscation comes. The dems want to know where EVERY firearm in the U.S. is so that they can eventually take them.

Anyone want to advise how this, or any gun law, prevented the felon on probation, from having a gun that killed 3 young black men at the Torrance, CA bowling alley the other day?

Nancy? Mike Thompson? You´re both in California, how did this person get a gun?

I don´t mind background checks, but if you don´t have people, like the person in Parkland School, who wasn´t being input into the system about his behavior, due to Obama rule, then how will that catch people who shouldn´t be able to buy a gun legally?

#10 I appreciate you bringing up Obamacare but for many years the feds have required the health care industry to ask patients if they have guns in their homes. My wife is a retired RN who provided home visits. The federal questionnaire she had to fill out for each visit required the patient to reveal whether their were guns in the home. btw, she never filled out that particular question.

Background checks on private transfers means you can´t pass on Your dad´s deer rifle to your son without putting him through a background check. This gets the camel´s nose a little further into the tent. The ultimate goal is,of course, complete confiscation of honest people´s firearms. The left doesn´t really care that this won´t stop the young blacks from slaughtering each other. They realize that this would disarm conservatives mostly. That´s their end game.

It has long been a mystery how, exactly, the Devils River got its name—and what, exactly, happened to the apostrophe. But the leading theory will ring true to anyone who has attempted to navigate it. Though early Spanish explorers named the river after Saint Peter, it’s said that the settlers who followed in their footsteps regarded the waterway and its surrounding terrain as so forbidding that they thought it could have been carved by Lucifer himself. And so the gatekeeper to heaven gave way to the ruler of hell. Given that grim reputation, that off-putting name, and the river’s remote

Talk of socialism is suddenly everywhere. The journey from a free society to socialism, however, does not occur overnight. It’s a stepped process that begins slowly and ends with a rush. Here are those steps: Step 1. Massive Government Spending. Socialist states have government at the center of their economies and feature enormous spending programs. In early 1990s Sweden often cited as a socialist state, government spending exceeded 70 percent of its economy. Under President Jefferson, government spending was approximately 2 to 3 percent of the economy. Today, we are at 36 percent. Sweden, now walking away from socialism,

The scenario sounds familiar: Democrats, facing a Republican presidential candidate widely reviled among the party’s rank-and-file, nominate a seemingly safe establishment figure to keep their hold on the White House. To the party’s shock and horror, their establishment figure loses the general election. The reviled Republican becomes president. The party’s liberal activists seethe at the loss, arguing that their party’s establishment centrists stole the nomination at their convention and then failed to produce. In reaction, they push the party to the left and, four years later, propel a decidedly liberal candidate to the nomination.

The Democratic Crackup

Americans love a good political brawl, and that’s terrible news for Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Her Democratic Party has commenced a full throw-down—with itself. Few things have benefited Democrats more in the past few years than the Donald Trump show. The president likes to be the center of attention, and the media likes nothing more than to oblige him. This dynamic helped make the 2018 election a referendum on the man himself rather than his policies, and that made Mrs. Pelosi speaker of the House. Democrats envisioned the same dynamic helping them win the White House in 2020.
