The Breaking of the Never Trump Mind
American Mind, by Christopher Bedford

Original Article

Posted By:FlyRight, 1/6/2019 6:29:07 AM

This essay is “dangerous,” an unidentified Never Trump friend warned Charles Kesler shortly after Michael Anton published “Flight 93 Election” on Claremont Review of Books Digital. “The only noteworthy aspect is the disgusting appropriation of the memory of the heroism of Flight 93 to make the case for Trump,” tweeted Bill Kristol, who if not the same person as the aforementioned friend, certainly shared his sentiments. In the days following publication, Kristol used Twitter to try to out the then-anonymous Decius, correctly guessing that Anton was the author.

Brilliant essay. Bedford conflates the GOPe and Democrats as the Deep State President Trump pledged to do away with in 2016, but which may not be done in full until 2020 and beyond. No wonder those creeps hate him so.

Don´t worry, sir, real Americans have your back.

I really don´t understand anyone who can look at the state of politics in the United States today and conclude President Trump is the problem.

Thanks for posting.

Americans prefer a leader who will tell us what he really thinks while insulting our sensibilities over some poser who tells us what he thinks we want to hear while insulting our intelligence.

FTA:"As the second year of Trump’s presidency ends, these former Republicans have insulted and alienated their readers until they had none."

Here´s what did it for me and it happened beginning in 2007 when Kristol and the whole WS clan did everything in their power to destroy Hannity and Beck for bringing up Obama´s Marxist/Alinsky/Cloward-Piven past. Then, the final nail was their Lincoln chalice dinner with the High and Holy Hawaiian just before his holy immaculation. Remember who was there? All the "conservative" ones who are so very much better, cleaner, smarter, erudite, and brilliant than we Bible thumping, gun toting Wal-Mart shopping (and per Strzok, you know how much we smell) voters. I didn´t have to wait until Kristol insulted Chatsworth Osborn, Jr a few years ago. It was over completely with ALL of them in 2009, Krauthammer, Fred Barnes, and George Will included. Now if we could rid ourselves of the Depends wearing GOP and replace them all with American men who can read, understand, comprehend, agree with the Constitution, and uphold their oaths to it, the downward slope we´ve been on since 1995 might at least flatten a bit.

My Congressman Brad Wenstrup, and the RNC regularly ask me what my major concerns are, and I answer ´It´s none of your business!´

I believe him to be a Conservative, but will not tell any Politician the information they need to craft a position acceptable to enough people to get them elected!

There are too many posers who have been bought by the Elites! The re-election of the President in 2020, and victories in both Chambers of the House are what needs to happen to really drain the swamp.

Perhaps one day some NeverTrumpers will begin having a moment of clarity and realize, or acknowledge publicly if they already know, that it is not Trump they hate, but us, the American people. To them everything west of the Hudson and east of the I-5 is Deliverance territory, filled with, well, us.

We know it. We see it in their writing. When one of them wrote that our towns and small cities deserved to die, he was not talking about buildings. He meant us.

We know it. But it is only recently that we came to understand that they never really liked us in the first place. That was OUR mistake, believing that they did.

Funny thing, hate. Eventually it consumes not its object but the mind that harbors it.

The Never Trumper´s opposition to Trump was about jobs, jobs, jobs.

By which, I mean theirs: Bill Kristol´s job, Rich Lowry´s job, and the jobs of all the other professional spokesmodels who got paid for being conservative. We were their target audience. They needed to sell books, columns, and cruises, and they needed us to keep buying.

They thought we were a captive audience--that we would never have an alternative. Despite their bleating about free market economics, they believed they had successfully cornered the market on conservatives, and they planned to maintain their monopoly forever.

Donald Trump threatened all of that. He didn´t need our money, and he didn´t seek their approval. He threatened their positions and personal income, so they dispatched the usual suspects to destroy him. Except he didn´t play the game by their rules. He started winning: Primary votes, debates with other candidates, fights with the media. He was smart enough to see the opportunity to address the unmet expectations of conservatives and, in the end, he won our respect, support, and votes.

They lost. The Never Trumpers lost the argument, the primary, and our loyalty. And then they lost their minds. When they opposed the nominee from their own party, and conspired to elect Hillary Clinton president, they forfeited the right to ever again sell us their opinions about what conservatives should be or do. We stopped buying.

And now they´re going to lose their jobs. The Weekly Standard is already gone. The rest of the Never Trumpers will soon follow.

Not soon enough.

In my mind Texas is everywhere. Don´t mess with any of us from around this country. We the People are finally woke and moving forward with President Trump.

Spot on article that eviserates the Never Trumpers. I agree with #8. It is not so much the President that they hate, it is we the people. We have been expected to shut up and sit down and listen to our bettters even when they were making our lives miserable. Every election we were expected to dutifully vote for their guy even if it meant more of the same: destruction of our manufacturing base, endless wars, endless foreign aid, open borders, infanticide in the womb, and growing corruption within our government. We could not break the cycle until Donald Trump descended the escalator and then everything changed. The people recognized there was a guy with a solution and the grit to implement it against all odds and we are not going back. The American people will support him because he is the only guy to come down the pike in my lifetime who will tell the truth about the dirty secret in Washington DC and that is these piggies from the elected “servants”, bureaucrats, lobbyists, and commentators all have their snouts planted firmly in the taxpayer trough getting fat and powerful at our expense. The Political elites/Ruling class are so done. We are through being scorned, ridiculed, and reviled. They have abused their power and influence. We finally have a leader who cares more for the average Joe than the preening, hypocritical class and we are sticking with him.

Remember the times around here when anyone who moaned about Romney was immediately chastised with the logic "If you don´t vote for Romney, it´s a vote for Obama."? Guess what? Romney hasn´t changed a whit, and neither has the real, official Republican Party, which talks and then finds excuses once given the opportunity to act.

Okay, toss out all the RINOS. And the Legislative Branch will have no "Republicans" in office. Professional politics is merely calculating positions that will keep 50.0001% of the voters happy enough to not elect your opponent, while keeping the money spigots flowing.

Anyone who thinks this is about the civics book notion of Congress seriously considering diverse ideas, pondering their consequences in the national interest, to pass wise and wonderful laws is foolish.

Romney is playing his version of "2020 Presidential Challenge" - already declaring his Trump opposition. Just wait until the subpoenas fly and impeachment is a seriously proposed matter - I will be shocked if the Dem House fails to pass a resolution within the next 18 months, none of it related to the current Special Prosecutor. They found their man, his crime will come. And then will one vote for Romney, or Beto/Biden/Bernie?

I´m glad that everyone here now understands that Romney, Kristol, Will, Lowry, Noonan, Napolitano, and their ilk are the really dangerous enemies of freedom.

Something the never Trumpers, democrat party and the left wing media, but I repeat myself, don´t get is that DJ Trump has tapped into something that has been bubbling under the surface for quite some time.

Attacks on a scale one half of that leveled at Trump would have derailed a traditional republican president and stopped his agenda dead in his tracks. The left doesn´t seem to realize just how different he is and, more importantly, how different his supporters are. I believe nothing the left says about him can shake our faith in the man and that explains why the left seems to have gone off the rails.

Like just about all of Trump´s supporters I plan on voting for him again.

#8-#15 were on the parapets together early on, and I remember two things. First, there was no more effective advocate for positions I sometimes opposed than #2. It gives me great pleasure to find myself in profound agreement with someone so eloquent in the defense of things we share.

Second, there were times when it felt like #17 and I were the last two standing. I am obliged to note that he was always standing there first.

WASHINGTON — Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort could spend more than 19 years in prison on tax and bank fraud charges. That’s according to a court filing Friday by special counsel Robert Mueller’s office that lays out how federal probation officials have calculated Manafort’s potential sentence. The recommended sentence under federal guidelines would be the lengthiest prison term imposed in the Russia investigation if a federal judge agreed to it. It would also place the 69-year-old Manafort at serious risk of spending the rest of his life in prison.

Congressional negotiators say they’re close to reaching a deal to avert a shutdown, with Democrats acknowledging that a final compromise would include funding for border barriers — a concession that could spark rebellion within their party. Lawmakers and aides, however, said Friday that the conference committee remains several days away from a final border security deal as top spending leaders continued to trade offers back and forth. Negotiators technically have until Feb. 15 to reach an agreement to stave off another shutdown, but lawmakers insist the practical deadline for any agreement is much earlier in the week.
