Decades after Prohibition ended, its

During my first trip to Salt Lake City years ago, I wandered into a nondescript little bar and — forgetting about Utah’s arcane drinking laws — tried to order a whisky. The bar wasn’t open to the public, I was told, but was for members only. I could, however, fill out a membership application, pay a fee, and then order my bourbon without a hitch. It seemed weird, but was the result of a now-defunct law that banned the operation of pubs. I saved the membership card as a reminder of the stupidity of

The ´prohibition´ amendment did not ban alcohol. Read it.
The Volstead Act put significant restrictions on alcohol, but did not ban it either.
Alcohol is banned in most of Alaska, they are not suffering a crime wave because of it.
The temperance movement was immensely popular at the time and removing the revenue from alcohol taxes created a justification for the income tax.
History is complicated, but spending the time to learn it will save one from falling for straw man arguments.

So that´s why the show ALASKA STATE TROOPERS has state troopers arresting people for drinking alcohol #2, because it´s banned in the some parts of the state. They don´t explain that during the show. I couldn´t understand why all the fuss over being drunk at home.

Three reputed MS-13 gang members have been busted in a bat-and-knife attack on a group of teens outside a Long Island burger joint, authorities announced Thursday. Ramon Aravelo-Lopez, 19, Oscar Canales-Molina, 17, and Nobel Montes-Zuniga, 20, are accused of jumping the Huntington Station teens in the parking lot of a Burger King as they were walking out on Wednesday, said Suffolk County DA Timothy Sini. Inside the eatery, “the teens noticed a group of approximately six Hispanic males who they recognized from school, including the three defendants, staring at them in a menacing way,” Sini said.

Fast-food fans are going to have to slow down to read all the warning labels on the menu if legislation introduced Wednesday in the City Council becomes law. A bill authored by Councilmember Mark Levine would require chain restaurants to post warning notices next to each food item that contains more than 12 grams of added sugar. That’s in addition to the postings already on the books for high sodium content and calorie counts. “No city has done this yet, but New York is backsliding in the fight against obesity and diabetes, and helping people improve their diet

President Trump and other top administration officials have tried to stoke fears of terrorism to back their claim that there is a security “crisis” on the Mexican border — but the feds stopped just six immigrants at the border who were on a list of suspected terrorists. US Customs and Border Protection encountered only a half-dozen immigrants on the US-Mexico border in the first half of fiscal year 2018 whose names were on the feds’ list of known or suspected terrorists, NBC News reported, citing CBP data. The facts contradict White House spokeswoman

Police spokesman Detective Jeremy Silbert says the unloaded rocket launcher was turned in Monday, Dec. 17. The mother of a 7-year-old girl who died while in US custody this month was too despondent to attend her daughter’s funeral in an impoverished mountain village in Guatemala on Christmas Day. Friends and relatives took turns carrying Jakelin Caal’s white casket along a muddy road in San Antonio Secortez to a tiny cemetery — some 2,000 miles from where she died in an El Paso, Texas, hospital on Dec. 8. Religious songs were played at the gravesite, where about 150 people gathered. But it was too much for her mother and grandfather, said her uncle Jose Manuel Caal, 33.

The panel investigating the Florida high school massacre recommended Wednesday that teachers who volunteer and undergo extensive background checks and training be allowed to carry concealed guns on campus to stop future shootings. The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission voted 13-1 to recommend the Legislature allow the arming of teachers, saying it’s not enough to have one or two police officers or armed guards on campus. An elementary school principal in Nebraska was placed on leave after telling teachers to avoid decorating their classrooms with Christmas-themed ornaments so as not to offend those who don’t celebrate the holiday. The principal at Manchester Elementary School, identified by Fox affiliate KPTM as Jennifer Sinclair, sent out a memo earlier this week with guidelines as to what is considered appropriate for classroom decorations and assignments. Teachers reportedly were told that generic winter-themed items, such as sledding and scarves, and the “Frozen” character Olaf, were acceptable.

Dump the eggnog and strip the lights from the Hanukah bush, because the #MeToo movement is coming for holiday fun. #MeToo, which started out as a righteous campaign to stamp out sexual harassment and predation, has gone stark raving bonkers. Its latest target: the innocent, consensual kiss underneath the mistletoe and a beloved duet that celebrates it. The charming ditty “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” is all about heterosexual flirtation and attempted seduction. Penned by Frank Loesser in 1944, it’s been covered by the likes of Bing Crosby, Idina Menzel and Michael Bublé, among many others.

It has already been determined that the tumors removed were malignant, however, there is one more layer to this. The doctor points out that we still don’t know what type of cancer Ginsburg has:

The church, Trinity Bible Presbyterian Church, is located in Lake Shastina, Calif., which is about an hours’ drive from the Oregon border. Trump did so after a meeting with Putin in 2017 in Hamburg that was also attended by then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
