I Traveled To See George H.W. Bush

WASHINGTON — It was bitterly cold and dark on Capitol Hill as I walked the brick sidewalks leading to the U.S. Capitol. I was heading to pay my respects to President George H.W. Bush, who was lying in state. I have covered major funerals in Washington and seen my fair share of grandiose state events. However, nothing prepared me for what I saw as I approached the Capitol that night. The process for a president to lie in state is standardized. There is an official arrival ceremony, followed by remarks from gathered political leaders. Family, friends and members of the

I expected HW to parachute into the funeral gathering. Nevertheless, HW was a WWII veteran, and earned respect. He was also a good President, and should have been re-elected to a second term. The nation would have been much better served. Perot divided the vote, knew he couldn´t win, and knew he was delivering the election to Clinton. The Democrats can always stoop lower.

I wonder what goes through the Clinton´s minds when they attend such an event. Bush was a good and decent man. Obviously loved by his family. Respected by world leaders, and Americans everywhere across the United States. I have images of women lining up to view Clinton´s body with a hat pin in their hands. Hoping to jab it into his thigh to make sure he is really dead. What positive thing could you say about such a person as Clinton that would not be a bold faced lie? I was touched by the ceremonies honoring Mr. Bush. I hope Megan McCain watched it and realizes what a disservice she did to her father´s memory turning his funeral into a political circus.

A beautiful article. I believe most of those people standing in the cold for hours were the people who never believed the media when they were trashing President Bush.

I want to believe that Americans are thirsting to feel and live the way things used to be. Once it was perfectly normal to show respect, to be openly patriotic, and to raise your children to love our country. This week´s beautiful journey in the Way Back Machine was just plain wonderful.

UK Prime Minister Theresa May on Wednesday told Conservative Party lawmakers that she won’t run in the next general election — a stunning development as she faced a no-confidence vote in Parliament, Reuters reported. May also vowed to win the vote triggered by angry Brexit supporters in her Conservative Party on Wednesday, saying her ouster would jeopardize Britain’s divorce from the European Union. Less than four months before the UK is due to leave on March 29, Brexit is in chaos, with options ranging from a potentially disorderly no-deal departure to another referendum that could reverse the whole thing. As media institutions stumble into the tar pit of irrelevancy, they tend to do two things: stage temper tantrums and then lose themselves in the media echo chamber.CNN is a great example of the former. The left-wing cable channel has not broken a consequential story (that wasn’t later exposed as fake news) all year, its ratings are abysmal, and its reputation throughout the country is, to say the least, in tatters. To hold on to some kind of audience, CNN is now a 24/7 circus parade of outrage and anger where the self-righteous spew divisive hate and engage in antics
