These College Guys Are Trying
to Ban Porn on Campus

The Daily Beast, by Emily Shugerman

Original Article

Posted By:countryDoc, 12/6/2018 11:26:24 AM

Republicans and radical feminists have all but abandoned it, but the fight against porn has an unlikely new champion: college men. Combining the energy of the #MeToo movement with a moral fervor, students at universities across the country told The Daily Beast they are working to get pornography off their campuses.

Comments:
We have come full circle. Porn was "Freedom of speech" according to liberals years ago, now it violates their #MeToo agenda.

Breaking down moral values is part of the liberal agenda, but porn is rightly misogynous now. "Prude" Christian values are now consistent with the #MeToo agenda.

How about a national or worldwide ban on pornography?

Ok, now we have our "cause du jour"
I´m not really in favor of porn , nor am I one to do a "book burning" either.
It´ll never go away, been around since long before Rome at it´s best. Cave drawings and ancient graffiti demonstrate this.
"college guys" virtue signaling. All part of the "pound me too" thing.
At 74 I´m not interested in porn, having spent 20 yrs USN , there isn´t much that impresses me anyhow.

College guys can avoid porn merely by not clicking on it. Why not ban socialism on campus and on society? That is imposed by government force, and cannot be avoided by not clicking on it, so seems to warrant immediate attention. How about banning meddling in other people´s business, liberty and property?

If you go to Florence Italy and look at Michelangelo´s statue of David you are a connoisseur of art. If you look at the same thing in the states on a computer you are a vile pervert. Strange world we live in. But like many on this blog my age has reduced my desire to see anything unclothed. So I want all people and animals clothed. All dogs, cats, and especially horses should be fully clothed. And squirrels. Snakes should be required to slither into opaque garden hoses. I am still working on what to do with birds.

Pornography USED to require going out of one´s way to find it. (Unless one had ready access to the Sears catalog) While using porn has never been a healthy behavior, the now inexhaustible online access to porn has ruined millions. These are men who would never have embarrassed themselves asking for the behind the counter magazines or God-forbid driving to a porn outlet at the city´s edge. So while these current efforts to ´ban´ porno have nearly zero chance of success, I applaud them for decrying the evils of porn and its effects on men and the real women they might love.

Like most tyrants, they aren´t content to avoid what they don´t want to see; they want to prevent everyone from seeing it.
They aren´t trying to score points with chicks, that would mean they were clever enough to think of it. They´re despots in training that can´t see their own hypocrisy.

Some of them will become useful idiots in our government structure.

I don´t think it is being tyrannical to ban porn. Porn is NOT free speech as the left used to advocate. It is degradation and perversion and is actually detrimental to healthy relationships.

A filter is not the same as a ban. And a campus is not the same as a democracy. So no one’s rights or freedom of speech are being trampled.

The poor lads will only suffer the inconvenience of having to go back to their off-campus apartments to view their porn instead of doing it in the dining hall bathroom.

Prude Christian values? Please - read the Bible. Or maybe that is the problem because it hasn´t been read. Yes, God has views on sexuality and given the current society, it might help someone out to get an understanding of those views.

Th #MeToo movement has gone too far. How can they ban porn when most Hollywood actresses put pictures of themselves in the all together every day on the interneI. They take pictures of their pregnant bodies and then of them breastfeeding their young( some as old as 3 or 4) and post them on the internet. In the age of the sleezy rich Kardasians, anything goes. Boobs and butts are in and meant to be shown in public. The XXX movies of yesterday are PG13 today. Go figure.

I’ll go against the grain here. The left always starts with good intentions like this. Then they want to ban intolerant opinions, or offensive ideas. Look at Facebook and Twitter.

This is always the path, and we need to recognize that this article is just another “Censorship? Everybody’s doing it!” propaganda piece.

It seems like every week college-aged people are protesting or banning something. First of all the protesters and banners are hired to do this to promote a larger agenda. It is not alturistic (sp?). I know this because there are recruiters on campuses pushing causes all the time. They get phone numbers and signatures and then they are contacted for the movement.

Porn is free speech. Any one who has read the Larry Flynt opinion by the US Supreme Court would know this.

I do agree that an obsessive addiction to porn is probably really unhealthy and must make a wife or girl friend feel horrible and worthless.

I also concur with a prior poster. The Davide in Florence and Venus de Milo (works that were paid for) are art and Kevin Kline is vilified and boycotted for promoting porn for photographing stunning male and female models in their under garments. The hypocrisy is insane.

Do college-age students ever study? I know that when I was at the university and law school, I barely slept or ate. No time to protest.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren has the core of her 2020 team in place if she runs for president. She has the seed money — there’s $12.5 million ready to go, left from her recent Senate run — and a massive email list she’s amassed over years, boosted by a $3.3 million investment in digital infrastructure and advertising in the last election alone. Her aides have been quietly shopping for presidential campaign headquarters space in the Boston area in recent weeks, according to a source with knowledge of the move. All that’s left is for her to give the green light.

Woke 29-year-old Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez went after White House Chief of Staff John Kelly yesterday. Why? She wants him to apologize to Democrat Rep. Frederica Wilson for supposedly "lying" about her to reporters.(tweet)"Cowardice." Quite a big word to use against a four-star Marine Corps general whose son was killed in Afghanistan. Wilson´s spat with Kelly came last year when she alleged President Trump disrespected a military family during a phone call. Kelly disputed her characterization and gave a briefing to the White House press corps on how the military handles casualties.

The dissent was significant because it indicates that Justice Brett Kavanaugh sided with the high court’s liberal wing to deny review of a lower court decision that favored the nation’s largest abortion provider. “So what explains the Court’s refusal to do its job here?,” Thomas wrote. “I suspect it has something to do with the fact that some respondents in these cases are named ‘Planned Parenthood.
