NYPD sends 20 cops to ‘evict’
one-legged homeless man

New York Post, by Kevin Fasick and Bruce Golding

How many cops does it take to give a one-legged homeless man the boot? Apparently about 20! A contingent of NYPD officers spent two hours Wednesday morning kicking out Thomas Harris, 61, from the Brooklyn plaza where he’d been camped out for weeks. Cops tore down the hovel Harris built from shopping carts and plastic sheeting outside the subway station at Parkside and Ocean avenues, and hauled away about half of his possessions, including some of the hand drums he peddles on the street. The ordeal also involved a pair of FDNY ambulances staffed with EMTs, and several outreach

Comments:
How far we´ve fallen. Fifty years ago, a single nudge with a nightstick would send this troublemaker on his way. Instead they let him live on the sidewalk and cost the taxpayers massive amounts of money supporting him, not to mention reduced quality of life for everyone, including the bum. The social workers get to make money and the leftists get a human prop for the War on Poverty, and that´s about it.

He lost his leg getting hit by a subway train. You know he must have gotten a hefty settlement so where did money go?

We continue to reap the blessings of Lady Bird Johnson and her misguided efforts to close mental institutions where the mentally ill once were housed (however sadly). She worked to beautify our roadsides with wildflowers here in Texas but her work for dang sure soiled our city sidewalks. I am sorry but my definition of ´harming oneself´ includes living in cardboard boxes and atop heating grates and surveys have consistently shown that the homeless are in fact mentally ill.

A poster boy for bail reform will miss out on meeting former President Barack Obama at a Manhattan gala awards ceremony Wednesday night — because he was busted during a traffic stop hours earlier. The Boy Scouts of America is mulling declaring bankruptcy amid flagging membership and an avalanche of costly sex abuse allegations, according to the Wall Street Journal. Leaders have hired Chicago law firm Sidley Austin for help in a potential Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, sources told the outlet. The organization has been fending off lawsuits over alleged abuse, including one filed by four former scouts who called the club a “pedophile magnet” and alleged that they were molested by scoutmaster Waldron Ackerman between 1974 and 1976. The organization has reportedly lost two-thirds of its members — some 4 million boys —
