Vegans may make phrases like
‘bringing home the bacon’ obsolete

New York Post, by Christian Gollayan

Original Article

Posted By:mc squared, 12/5/2018 10:05:44 AM

An academic argues that meat-based idioms like “bringing home the bacon” or “putting all your eggs in one basket” could soon become obsolete — because they could offend vegans and vegetarians. “The increased awareness of vegan issues will filter through consciousness to produce new modes of expression,” Shareena Z. Hamzah, who received her PhD in English Literature at Swansea University, wrote in The Conversation. “It may very well be that down the line powerful meat metaphors are eschewed.”

Comments:
Why don´t we just get a list of words, phrases and tunes which we can use? It would be much shorter than the ones that offend everybody everywhere.
Frankly, allahu akbar offends the crap out of me. To whom do I complain?

This is what passes these days for "academic rigor?"

No wonder a college/university education has almost no value . . .

Bacon! Did you say bacon?
Air fryer users: here´s a great way to cook bacon: pre-heat air fryer 390 degrees, place a few slices in the air fryer. Cook at 390 for 5 minutes. Turn bacon over. Cook 2-3 minutes more. YUM!

Has anyone ever met a vegan that wasn´t a sickly miserable excuse for a human being?!?!?!?

Veganism is a sign of a serious mental illness!!!! Not only do they deny their own bodies necessary and easily available nutrients, the lack of those nutrients degrades their brains and causes them to be obsessive and want to control everyone else´s lives (to try to make everyone else as MISERABLE as the vegans are)!!!!!

Silly vegans, have they no understanding why corn and squash or carrots and radishes are commonly known as companion plantings (?) - obviously they rip those plants out by the roots as if they were unwanted fetuses. s/off

Anti vegetable vivisectionists unite!
End the senseless cruel slaughter of plants! Plants harm no one, they are natures kindest creatures.
Animals, on the other hand, kill to live so it is only fitting that they die so other animals can live.

The truly compassionate kill and eat animals, and leave the plants alone.

#18 Companion planting for Corn and squash includes peas. (Three sisters) The corn is the trellis for the squash to grow up while it spreads its leaves out to keep out the weeds and the peas are a nitrogen fixator plant that brings nitrogen back into the soil.

This year for Christmas I´m wrapping a good Parma Ham around my Beef tenderloin and enjoying a good Beef Wellington. I´m also doing a good Beef Tri-Tip Carpaccio Texas style.

We can always push back against the Left´s latest effort to change thinking by controlling language? I think I´ll make a point of learning the lyrics to ´Baby It´s Cold Outside´ and be sure to say ´bringing home the bacon´ at least 3 times a day...

Liberals, you want to constrain language? Start by stopping the epidemic of dishonest reporting, which has grown more-egregious by orders of magnitude on the Left since 2016.

I don´t get it- Where´s the Beef?
It is just a pig in a polk
They should be happy with just one bird in their hand rather than going for two in the bush.
Better not to count their chickens before they hatch.
No dog trades bones with another, ya know.
Vegans are merely wolves in sheep´s clothing.
Well, you know what they say, "All animal are equal, but some taste better than others."
If we are not supposed to eat the animals, why are they made of meat?
It all just makes so much horse sense!
But, they are as stubborn as a mule.
They have to be pulling the wool over our eyes.
To get us to go along with this, they will have to be busy as beavers.
They sound trough, but they come in like Lions and go out like lambs.
People who are as wise as owls will see vegans are as crazy as loons!

Comedian Jim Gaffigan talks about vegans a lot and says something like, “Have you ever noticed that when you invite a vegan over for dinner, he expects you to make a special dish to suit his veganism, but when you go to his house, he never cooks you a steak?”

Let the vegans be heroes to the weeping eggs and broccoli - my heroes are the real men and women out there who have been fighting the fires, apprehending the criminals, rescuing our injured, and defending our nation - and I´ll bet that almost every single one of them eats and appreciates bacon without judgment.

Dump the eggnog and strip the lights from the Hanukah bush, because the #MeToo movement is coming for holiday fun. #MeToo, which started out as a righteous campaign to stamp out sexual harassment and predation, has gone stark raving bonkers. Its latest target: the innocent, consensual kiss underneath the mistletoe and a beloved duet that celebrates it. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) responded to the November employment report that came out today—which showed that a record 156,795,000 were employed in America—by saying that the report revealed “a callous GOP special interest agenda” that has hurt the “economic security of hard-working families.” The unemployment numbers released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicated that the unemployment rate was 3.7 percent for the third straight month. That is the lowest unemployment rate the United States has seen since 1969, according to BLS. “November’s jobs report shows an economy straining beneath the weight of a callous GOP special interest agenda that

Sen. Elizabeth Warren has the core of her 2020 team in place if she runs for president. She has the seed money — there’s $12.5 million ready to go, left from her recent Senate run — and a massive email list she’s amassed over years, boosted by a $3.3 million investment in digital infrastructure and advertising in the last election alone. Her aides have been quietly shopping for presidential campaign headquarters space in the Boston area in recent weeks, according to a source with knowledge of the move.
