On Tuesday, Emerald Robinson, chief White House correspondent for One America News Network (OANN), unleashed a powerful rumor that The Weekly Standard is on its last legs. Sources confirmed to CNN that Editor-in-Chief Stephen Hayes warned staff the future of the paper is uncertain. One of the magazine´s key editors, Bill Kristol, has adopted a firmly anti-Trump stance, becoming a well-known #NeverTrump leader. "BREAKING: Multiple sources tell me that neocon magazine [The Weekly Standard] is expected to close its operations in a few weeks," Robinson tweeted. "It had lost many subscribers since the 2016 election as its [Never Trumper] editors

I love how the left has been praising and quoting from thee Never Trump mag-rag for almost three years. And now, suddenly they start calling it a far-right "Neocon" magazine as it approaches the termination of its life due to unpopularity with its conservative base.

With real issues to deal with now, I personally do not care one bit about these arrogant elites who trashed this President with such venom and condescension. They are reaping what they have sown as we all do when we make bad decisions.

I regret that Stephen Hayes proved himself to be such a jerk. At one time, he was one of my favorites. His own hubris got in the way of rational thought and he became one of the unhinged.

Steve Hayes used to be one of my favorite Panel People on FOX. Bill Kristol was okay until Trump was elected, then he became unwatchable! Both of the should have realized it doesn´t pay to insult half of the people who buy your magazine! Oh well, I would guess Kristol will be a Regular on CNN and MSNBC!

It started with Gary Aldrich when the WS crowd helped ruin his life when all he did was write a book about what happened during his time in the Clinton White House. When EVERY WORD Gary wrote was proven to be one hundred percent true, no one at the WS even acknowledged their Mueller tactics against him. The ONLY journalist who apologized for dragging Aldrich through the mud was none other than Dan Rather. Then they all, along with Doris Goodman, destroyed Stephen A Ambrose for plagiarism when all Ambrose did was quote the exact same thing another historian quoted by a WW2 pilot AFTER that pilot told Ambrose the exact same thing. It wasn´t plagiarism but it was to the self-righteous Fred Barnes. Ambrose was too weak to defend himself because he was dying of cancer and they all knew that. That´s when the WS was over for good for me. I hope they find careers where, "Do you want fries with that?" is part of their job description. They all deserve it.

This is what happens when your principles become more important than the people they are supposed to help. You end up demanding to be served, instead of serving. It happens to all, large groups of people/institutions/corporations/bureaucracies. That’s one of the many genius aspects of the US Constitution. It was meant to try and stopgap that tendency of human psycho-sociology.

I subscribed to the Weekly Standard in the 1990s as they were one of only 3 conservative news magazines I knew of. I cancelled them during the George W Bush Administration when they criticized W with the same inane bs found on CNN at the time. They deserve conservative disdain, and liberals have much more vocal cheerleaders.

In a primetime address televised on Monday, French President Emmanuel Macron attempted to diffuse the ongoing populist revolt of the “yellow jacket” or “yellow vest” movement. His seemingly stiff performance and meager proposals may do little to assure the people of France that he understands the political moment. (Snip)Even worse, Macron borrowed (unwittingly, one hopes) from the Jimmy Carter songbook. “It is 40 years of malaise that is resurfacing: malaise of workers that can no longer find a place for themselves; malaise of territories, villages, neighborhoods; we see public services diminish, an environment that is disappearing; democratic malaise

WASHINGTON – The Trump administration is on the verge of moving forward with a significant rollback of an Obama-era clean water regulation that has become a rallying cry for farmers and property-rights activists opposed to federal overreach. The new proposal, whose details will be unveiled Tuesday morning by EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler and other administration officials, is expected to ease government oversight of small bodies of water, undoing a regulation President Donald Trump has called "a massive power grab." The new rule would replace an Obama administration regulation, known as the "Waters of the United States" rule

The Trump administration is now on the clock to finalize one of the biggest changes to legal immigration policy in a generation, after the official comment period ended Monday on a plan to require immigrants to show they aren’t a public burden if they want to extend their visas or get on the path to citizenship. Immigrant rights groups and other Trump opponents mounted a feverish last-minute push to try to derail the proposal. The Department of Justice is requesting that the justification of an FBI raid on a reportedly recognized whistleblower’s home remain secret, according to a letter from U.S. Attorney Robert Robert Hur. The documents could potentially reveal whether the bureau and the magistrate who signed the court order allowing the raid, Stephanie A. Gallagher, knew that the subject was,

A city on fire. Cars burnt to ashes. A national monument defaced. 10,000 tear gas canisters and stun grenades used against protestors. In one week, Paris transformed from the City of Lights into a total battle zone. It’s important to understand how we got here. A major European power was brought to its knees by a mass protest – a near revolt by its people. Even for France, these events don’t happen often. It takes major problems to cause this level of upheaval, and we should seek to understand why people would risk their lives and take to the streets.

Why Trump critics are now switching

Fox News, by Howard Kurtz    Original Article

Two decades ago, liberals argued that Bill Clinton should not be impeached for his tawdry affair with Monica Lewinsky because, well, his lies were just about sex. Today, some liberals are arguing that Donald Trump should be impeached because of Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal because, well, it´s not the sex, it´s the hush money. For well over a year, Trump´s critics have been banking on Robert Mueller to come up with evidence of Russian collusion, and there have been only disconnected fragments. So now —never mind! — it´s about women and money.

The six observations I want to add involve light lifting, at most, but may be of interest even so. First, as McCarthy says, Justice Department guidance holds that a sitting president may not be indicted. If prosecutors in the Southern District of New York decide nonetheless to indict Trump for a campaign finance infraction,

The Boy Scouts of America is mulling declaring bankruptcy amid flagging membership and an avalanche of costly sex abuse allegations, according to the Wall Street Journal. Leaders have hired Chicago law firm Sidley Austin for help in a potential Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, sources told the outlet. The organization has been fending off lawsuits over alleged abuse, including one filed by four former scouts who called the club a “pedophile magnet” and alleged that they were molested by scoutmaster Waldron Ackerman between 1974 and 1976. The organization has reportedly lost two-thirds of its members — some 4 million boys —

If Tuesday’s instantly famous Oval Office meeting is a harbinger of things to come, it’s going to be a long two years for “Chuck and Nancy.” Presidents can be intimidating, and Trump had home court advantage during Tuesday’s meeting. However, Chuck Schumer seemed especially outmatched by a very forceful Donald Trump. As Bill Kristol (no Trump apologist) put it: “[B]ased on what I saw of their respective performances in that Oval Office meeting today, I don’t understand why it’s Nancy Pelosi who’s facing a leadership challenge and Chuck Schumer who isn’t.” The mainstream media will focus

New York Times opinion writer Jennifer Weiner told CBS This Morning hosts that holiday office parties are nothing more than another opportunity for women to be sexually harassed. In her article titled “The Torture of Dressing for Your Office Holiday Party,” Weiner described the holiday season as “the least wonderful time of the year.” “Why are we having holiday parties at all?” complained Weiner to Gayle King on Monday morning. “Wouldn’t you rather have an extra $100 in your paycheck than have to put on the Spanx, put on the heels, be social with the guy with, like, the stale coffee breath

Sen. Elizabeth Warren has the core of her 2020 team in place if she runs for president. She has the seed money — there’s $12.5 million ready to go, left from her recent Senate run — and a massive email list she’s amassed over years, boosted by a $3.3 million investment in digital infrastructure and advertising in the last election alone. Her aides have been quietly shopping for presidential campaign headquarters space in the Boston area in recent weeks, according to a source with knowledge of the move. All that’s left is for her to give the green light.

In response, Trump said he would shut down the government and take responsibility for it if they failed to include additional wall funding. MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski had to apologize for what some perceived to be a homophobic joke on Morning Joe Wednesday. Brzezinski called Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was “wannabe dictator’s butt-boy.” “I understand that Donald Trump doesn’t care, Heilemann makes a good point, he doesn’t care. But why doesn’t Mike Pompeo care right now?” Mika Brzezinski said of Pompeo’s response to a question about the killing of Saudi dissident Jamal Khashoggi. She continued, “Are the pathetic deflections that we just heard when he appeared on Fox & Friends, is that a patriot speaking? Or a wannabe dictator’s butt-boy?” Mika’s joke
