Report: Weekly Standard Staff
‘Bracing for the Worst’ After
Search for Buyer Fails

Breitbart Media, by Joshua Caplan

Original Article

Posted By:earlybird, 12/4/2018 8:07:39 PM

The future of The Weekly Standard, a conservative opinion magazine turned Never-Trump publication, is “uncertain,” a top editor has told staffers, according to a report. CNN, citing two unnamed sources, reports Editor-in-Chief Stephen Hayes phoned employees Tuesday, saying he is unsure what will happen to the magazine. CNN reports: The magazine’s precarious position comes after its leadership spent months searching for a buyer,(Snip) explained that The Weekly Standard’s leadership had butted heads with MediaDC, the current parent company of the magazine, and that the two parties had agreed to allow Hayes to search for a new owner.

And this was unexpected? THe original Weekly Standard was a conervative publication and had for years a realiable customer base. But when the Weakly Standard decided to become just another leftist rag like the Atlantic or The New Yorker, it alienated its customer base and couldn´t attract those hard leftist from there popular leftist magazines. It is a market failure because the leadership decided to abandon its customers in search of new customers that had completely different beliefs and values. And its failing. And its predictable. We see market failures all the time and this is just one more.

No surprise. Bill Kristol is the untalented spoiled son of celebrated parents who made his way on their coattails; Fred Barnes seems bright and amiable but oddly feckless and Stephen Hayes comes across as a Washington insider to the core which is to say a boring snob. Taken altogether they are hardly promising leaders in the precarious world of magazines. Unsurprisingly The Weekly Standard, which was always way overpriced, became unreadable in the Age of Trump. I, like many others, am sick to death of Trump bashing and especially so by so-called conservatives who think they’re too good to help him. Trump may not seem the perfect vessel for our side but he is the boat we got and he is effective. We don’t need pundits who do nothing but grouse and dispirit the rest of us so good riddance to them.

I subscribed to the WS for a couple of years. They did have a few thoughtful articles when they weren’t slyly bashing Trump. No more. When the National Review devoted one whole issue devoted to telling us to vote for the Rodham woman I left them too along with my modest little extra donation.

My God....to favor HRC over Trump. What were they thinking? I know he is a rude and sometimes crude individual. What do you expect from a damyankee from Queens, NY? The man is governing as the first real conservative since Ronald Reagan. Good riddance to the Weekly Standard. They once were conservative but they fell into corporate stupidity much like Dick’s Sporting Goods. Here was a store whose customer base was hunters and outdoorsmen and they start virtue signalling about gun control. I sometimes wonder how such stupid people end up as corporate big wigs. I wouldn’t hire them to sweep my office floor.

The Weekly Standard (published monthly) would be a perfect vehicle to lampoon the left.
Imagine contibutors like Mark Stein, James Wood and Dan Bongino making fun of current democrat bigshots. Include blasts from the past with profiles of former illuminaries such as Mel Reynolds, C. Ray Nagin, Jessie Jackson Jr., Cheeks Kilpatrick and her boy, former- mayor-in-prison, Malik.
Insert photos of Ted Kennedy (post Chappaquidic bridge) in a neck brace, Dukakis in the tank, the pasty-skinned Clintons in bathing suits waltzing on the beach. Toss in lots of old and new cartoons making sport of democrat hypocracy. It could work.

SAN DIEGO - Kneeling in front of riot police, 32 religious leaders and activists were arrested at the U.S. border fence in San Diego on Monday during a protest to support the Central American migrant caravan. More than 400 demonstrators, many leaders of churches, mosques, synagogues and indigenous communities, sought a halt to detention and deportation of migrants and for the United States to welcome the caravan that arrived in Tijuana, Mexico in November. President Trump has courageously thrown his weight behind a reform bill that will dramatically improve how we rehabilitate criminals and help keep them out of overcrowded prisons. CNN was so giddy a month ago that Jeff Zucker felt 5 foot-7 inches tall. Could be the Cuban heels he was wearing. The channel´s headline read, "Macron rebukes nationalism as Trump observes Armistice Day." Fortune magazine was more explicit, "Macron´s Armistice Speech Sends Message to Trump: ´Nationalism Is a Betrayal of Patriotism.´" How silly. Nationalism and patriotism are synonymous. And how stupid because feuding with Donald John Trump, president of the United States of America, is an invitation to disaster -- which has befallen Macron.
