Radio station drops "Baby It´s Cold
Outside" over #MeToo concerns

CBS News, by Caitlin O´Kane

A Cleveland radio station has stopped playing a popular Christmas song that´s been around since the 1940s, CBS Cleveland affiliate WOIO reports. Star 102 Cleveland listeners raised concerns about the lyrics of the song "Baby It´s Cold Outside," with some saying the words send the wrong message in the era of the #MeToo movement. Radio host Glenn Anderson wrote about the station´s decision to stop playing the song. "We used to play the song ´Baby It´s Cold Outside,´ but you´re the Christmas Executive Officer at Star 102 and you told us it´s no longer appropriate," Anderson wrote on Tuesday.

Comments:
Liberals think the 1944 song promotes date rape.

Actually, I always hated this song because the dude sounds so pathetic and desperate. Real men don´t need to beg.

Never understood why it was considered a Christmas song either, more like a loser song.

My daughters hated this creepy song when they were teens. "Say, what´s in this drink?" I´m glad it´s not being played anymore.

I´m guessing there is a nuther agenda at work here because there are literally thousands of other songs that are far more rude, crude, obnoxious and downright profane that get played everyday... if you could understand the lyrics!

I never heard this song until 2 years ago. Nothing to do with Christmas other than the cold weather of the title. But I guess Christmas songs are not allowed to be about Christmas anymore.

#1 - I think its more of a seasonal song (cold and snow) than a Christmas song, so radio stations just included it into the mix.

I always thought it was a courtship song between two adults who have been seeing each other for quite a while. The man wants to take it up a notch and the lady is interested, but in the time frame of the song´s writing the female of the species feigned disinterest and provided a more interesting chase. It used to be called The Mating Game.

The Left destroyed the morals, taboos and rituals that governed behavior between the sexes because they were too restrictive and antiquated for the new society peopled by free thinkers. They never gave a thought to what they were destroying or what should be its replacement. Now they are the biggest pearl clutchers around, while at the same time the charming ritual of courtship has been reduced to a booty call on Twitter.

Heeeey! I like that song even if it never snowed here. Will it change anything if the word was switched to "Baby It´s Wet Outside"?
....and snow, into rain? Just saying.

To a kid "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" might smack of infidelity and a little girl might think it´s ok to kiss an old man. We know Santa is Daddy but the kids don´t.

Meanwhile, "It´s Hard Out Here for a Pimp" won an Academy Award with lyrics like these:

"Wait I got a snow bunny, and a black girl too
You pay the right price and they´ll both do you
That´s the way the game goes, gotta keep it strictly pimpin
Gotta have my hustle tight, makin change off these women, yeah"

And lots of rap and hip-hop lyrics on the radio are far, far worse if you could understand them.

The song is intended to be a humorous take on the awkward human game of seduction. In the old days women were expected to be coy and "ladylike" by not appearing too interested but as Red Skelton and Betty Garrett demonstrated its funny either way. In the world of #MeToo men are expected to politely ask a woman if they are interested and only attempt seduction if the woman has given verbal (and perhaps written) informed consent while not under the influence of any alcohol or other other substance. I´m not sure our evolved courtship behaviors are going to adapt to these new constraints but I am sure nobody is going to write a song about it if we do.

The Academy Award winning song was sung by Esther Williams/Ricardo Montalbán and Betty Garrett/Red Skelton in the 1949 film “Neptune’s Daughter.” It was a delightful film and not deserving of the condemnation by liberals who promote blood, guts, and sex, yet are too dense to connect the dots of what their liberal proclivities have wrought upon this nation. Because of liberalism’s anything-goes, if-it-feels-good-do-it mentality, liberalism is responsible for the moral decline in this country, creating a society wherein date rape is one among other tragedies borne of such moral decline.

I was born in 1940 and my favorite wintery, Christmas-time song was “Let it Snow”. Much better than the low “Baby it’s Cold Outside” sung by the Rat-Pack member Dean Martin. There was a whole sleazy tuxedo-wearing, cigarette-waving group of singers in the pack: Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr. and Martin.

Two groups of migrants from Central America marched to the American consulate in Tijuana, Mexico, yesterday, with a list of demands to the Trump administration. One of them asked the American president to either let them in the country or pay them $50,000 each to go home, a report said. The first group, including about 100 migrants, arrived at the consulate around 11am on Tuesday. Alfonso Guerreo Ulloa, an organizer from Honduras, told the San Diego Union-Tribune that the $50,000 figure is not a very big sum. ´It may seem like a lot of money to you,´ he said.

New York Times opinion writer Jennifer Weiner told CBS This Morning hosts that holiday office parties are nothing more than another opportunity for women to be sexually harassed. In her article titled “The Torture of Dressing for Your Office Holiday Party,” Weiner described the holiday season as “the least wonderful time of the year.” “Why are we having holiday parties at all?” complained Weiner to Gayle King on Monday morning. “Wouldn’t you rather have an extra $100 in your paycheck than have to put on the Spanx, put on the heels, be social with the guy with, like, the stale coffee breath

Two groups of Central American migrants marched to the U.S. Consulate in Tijuana on Tuesday with a list of demands, with one group delivering an ultimatum to the Trump administration: either let them in the U.S. or pay them $50,000 each to go home, a report said. Among other demands were that deportations be halted and that asylum seekers be processed faster and in greater numbers, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported. Sen. Elizabeth Warren has the core of her 2020 team in place if she runs for president. She has the seed money — there’s $12.5 million ready to go, left from her recent Senate run — and a massive email list she’s amassed over years, boosted by a $3.3 million investment in digital infrastructure and advertising in the last election alone. Her aides have been quietly shopping for presidential campaign headquarters space in the Boston area in recent weeks, according to a source with knowledge of the move. All that’s left is for her to give the green light.

President Donald Trump, future House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer erupted in an on-camera fight in the Oval Office over border wall funding on Tuesday. The president argued that funding the wall was a “national emergency” and proposed $5 billion in funding. Schumer refused, insisting that he would only provide just $1.6 billion in border security funds. In response, Trump said he would shut down the government and take responsibility for it if they failed to include additional wall funding. MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski had to apologize for what some perceived to be a homophobic joke on Morning Joe Wednesday. Brzezinski called Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was “wannabe dictator’s butt-boy.” “I understand that Donald Trump doesn’t care, Heilemann makes a good point, he doesn’t care. But why doesn’t Mike Pompeo care right now?” Mika Brzezinski said of Pompeo’s response to a question about the killing of Saudi dissident Jamal Khashoggi. She continued, “Are the pathetic deflections that we just heard when he appeared on Fox & Friends, is that a patriot speaking? Or a wannabe dictator’s butt-boy?” Mika’s joke
