‘Next move?’ Acosta speaks, reaction pours
in when judge orders WH immediately

A federal judge ruled that Jim Acosta’s due process rights were violated and ordered the White House to return the CNN reporter’s press credentials. Judge Timothy J. Kelly, who was appointed by President Donald Trump, ruled in favor of Acosta in CNN’s lawsuit claiming that the White House violated his First Amendment rights when it revoked his press pass after a contentious exchange between the network’s chief White House correspondent and Trump. (Video/Tweet) Immediately, reaction from both sides rolled in, prompting some to ask what the next move will be. Perhaps, a ‘freeze out?’ (Tweet) The litigation will be moving

The judge gave no consideration whatsoever to POTUS being given due process. The WH needs to just stop the press conferences. I am sick of John Roberts kissing up to CNN, and of Acosta. The WH should bring it to a stop.

Another fun move would be to call a press conference and the moment that Acosta shows up - you cancel it! Repeat ad infinitum.

Restore him, call a press conference, only invite him, and film him sitting in the room all alone for hours waiting for his special moment.

Seriously, this is ridiculous. Somebody please tell these judges that they were not elected to run the country. "I order the government"? These tyrants need a dose of their own crap sandwiches.

Sorry for that wrong opinion but he does not have a constitutional right to force entry into any meeting where he is not wanted.

Constitutional right to be whatever he wants to be in life, yes, as long as it is not violating the rights of anyone else.

Her we have him violating the rights of president Trump to, or not to, allow whom he pleases to admit into his meetings.

This judge has no standing in ordering the President to do anything. I would tell the judge to try to enforce his decree and we will see what happens next.

As for Acosted, if and when he comes back, place him at the back of the press briefing-room, with no chair and never ever call on him or anyone from CNN.

Mike Huckabee had the perfect example of the stupidity of this judges ruling: "What would federal judge do if Acosta "challenged" him in his courtroom and argued and wouldn´t shut up when judge told him to and refused to give up mic when bailiff tried to retrieve it?" Yea, what would the judge do. What an idiot judge. I guess according to this judge, you can act like an ass and there are no consequences. I am getting so darn tired of judges and their nonsensical rulings. Hope Trumps other judges are better than this POS.

Whoever recommended Kelly for the appointment should have future nominees they recommend looked at more closely - they need to do a better job of specifying Judges who know their place, and limits, and what separation of powers means, among other things. Perhaps a proctored test at the WH before being nominated?

Acosta think he has won. He does not know this president very well Trump will shut down White House press briefings if Acosta or April Ryan gets uppity. The rest of the press corps will blame the shutdown on the reporters. They are on notice; Trump has said he will close down the press conferences unless reporters stick to the new rules they are drawing up as we speak. They are going to be tough.

Stop the media briefings until this bad ruling is overturned and instead every morning hand a written White House media briefing sheet to interested media representatives and leave it at that. When the President wants to personally Interact with the media, he can give private interviews to selected media representatives.

Without televised media briefings and news conferences Acosta and other media grandstanders will have no place to grandstand, and will be left to read a written White House daily briefing sheet.

Getting angry at the judge is spinning your wheels, looking in the wrong direction. He did as he should have, even if I disagree with the ruling, he had no real choice if he was to be a legitimate, consistent judge.

The judge followed the existing legal precedent, as he is required to do. He did NOT rule on 1st Amendment grounds, and he did not even rule on due process grounds. He just reversed the decision (ending the ´harm´ until a final ruling could be done) with a temporaty stay. This is very normal. Ultimately, his hands were tied by the other court´s precedent. Almost certainly, if he had ruled otherwise, it would have been bumped up and he would have been reversed.

I think that if the WH puts in place a written set of rules of decorum, has everyone who gets a press pass sign an agreement to abide by these rules, and the agreement clearly states, in the document that they sign, that their pass WILL be pulled for violating the written rules - it will pass muster as due process.

There are stirrings of discussion these days in philosophical circles about the prospect of human extinction. This should not be surprising, given the increasingly threatening predations of climate change. In reflecting on this question, I want to suggest an answer to a single question, one that hardly covers the whole philosophical territory but is an important aspect of it. Would human extinction be a tragedy? To get a bead on this question, let me distinguish it from a couple of other related questions. I’m not asking whether the experience of humans coming to an end would be a bad thing.

Joe Lieberman, a Democrat-turned-independent who has backed Republicans, has found friends in yet another party: the ruling Communist Party of the People´s Republic of China. The former "conscience of the Senate" has been hired to represent China´s ZTE telecommunications company, which is basically a front organization for Chinese intelligence services. ZTE is under pressure in light of overdue U.S. government efforts to prevent it from entrenching a stronger position in the U.S. economy. With the U.S. now in a new cold war with Beijing, no former U.S. official, let alone a foreign policy hawk like Lieberman, should be serving ZTE.

Allen soon invited Engelhardt

Chuck Schumer clearly thinks that he’s got a winning issue with blaming President Trump for a prospective “government shutdown” Friday, if no budget bill is passed that includes $5 billion for border wall improvements. Since he promises that no such money will be forthcoming from the Senate, he obviously anticipates the public reacting in horror over the Christmas holidays as federal employees labeled “non-essential” stay home. But Rep. Thomas Massey, a libertarian-leaning GOP House member from Kentucky, has published an amazing graph that shows how meaningless this “disaster” really is for almost everybody:
