What is Jim Acosta´s job, anyway?
Washington Times, by Larry O´Connor

Original Article

After the latest episode this week in the reality show “Jim Acosta: White House Meltdown,” it’s long past time for CNN to tell us what exactly Mr. Acosta’s actual job is. His title is “senior White House correspondent,” but the manner in which he executes his duties betrays that label. During Wednesday’s epic press conference, Mr. Acosta was called upon by President Trump to ask a question on behalf of his network. Mr. Acosta began by saying, “Thank you, Mr. President. I wanted to challenge you on one of the statements you made during the campaign.” “I wanted to challenge you” is not the beginning of a question; it’s the

The president does not answer to journalists. They can ask questions but they can´t judge and do not have the right to be rude, to anyone.

Sarah, and President Trump, need to STOP calling on people like Acosta. April Ryan is first on my List. If they are not called on, maybe their Bosses will replace them with someone who has respect for the White House, and Sarah Huckabee. I absolutely would just let them sit there like a Bump on a Log. I would Seat them is the back of the room and ignore them!

Acosta reminds me of a college intern who walks into a company and instantly starts insisting on giving stupid opinions that no one asked for and demanding their rights. When he gets fired on day one he goes home and high fives his Mom who thinks he is brilliant.

O´Connors suspicion that Acosta´s actions are not what his "colleagues in the White House briefing room want" is wrong.

The over-the-top outrage at Acosta´s ban and the claim that the video of Acosta striking the female WH intern was "doctored" shows that disrespect and aggression is exactly what the WH press corp and their owners want.

Can we PLEASE stop this idiotic and unwarranted worship of "journalism" and "journalists"? Put them to scrubbing toilets in turnpike rest stops or something on that order, more along the lines of their "talents".
We do not need and generally do not want "journalists".
What we could use are honest and reliable REPORTERS. Honest and complete reporting of the Who?, What?, When?, Where?, and, sometimes with great care, the Why? matters. The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Not personal opinions, wishes, etc. and not covering up (as the Journ-o-list cabal) some "inconvenient truth" things.
In a better world, creeps like Acosta would be playing the piano in a brothel or being a dog-walker or the like. Ditto for George Will and the crew at Weakly Sub-Standard.

Beto O´Rourke is lost. The former Democratic congressman, who unsuccessfully challenged Ted Cruz in last year´s election, has spent the last few weeks in a confused and melancholy state. Something possessed him to share images from a recent dental cleaning, perhaps the grossest introduction of a potential presidential candidate in the nation´s history. He gave an interview to the Washington Post where the only specific plank in his immigration platform was opposition to President Trump´s border wall. In the same interview, he mused that the Constitution may no longer apply to the United States, since we´re an "empire"

The defeat in Parliament of Prime Minister May’s compromise with Europe opens the way to true independence for Britain. It presents the chance for a redemption of the referendum of June 2016, when Britons were asked “Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?” and 51.89% answered “Leave the European Union.” It is too soon to declare mission accomplished. The future can still be lost, but Britain just took a giant step in the right direction. It makes clear that Britain’s future lies with a “no deal” Brexit.

I appreciate David’s response to my column on the FBI counterintelligence investigation of Trump, but unfortunately don’t find it persuasive. David emphasizes how the regulations governing a counterintelligence investigation focus on the activity of the foreign power. Yeah, sure. But that’s why the Times story was so explosive. It reported on a counterintelligence investigation of Trump himself, who is obviously not a foreigner, but the duly elected president of the United States. The Times story says that the FBI feared Trump might have been a witting or unwitting agent of the Russians.

The internet expands the bounds of acceptable discourse, so ideas considered out of bounds not long ago now rocket toward widespread acceptability. See: cannabis legalization, government-run health care, white nationalism and, of course, the flat-earthers. Yet there’s one political shore that remains stubbornly beyond the horizon. It’s an idea almost nobody in mainstream politics will address, other than to hurl the label as a bloody cudgel. I’m talking about opening up America’s borders to everyone who wants to move here.

I’ve changed my mind about building a wall along the Mexican border. Build it! The US government is shut down and the economic ramifications will be great. Not only are the families of people who’ve been put out of work being hurt but the entire economy is going to be affected. And since the consumer is the biggest part of our economy, that’s going to smart. The hard-headed politicians in Washington are clear: President Trump says
