Casting Out a Man of Honor and Achievement
City Journal, by Heather MacDonald

President Donald Trump has finally sacked Attorney General Jeff Sessions. The only upside to this development is that it ends the grotesque public humiliation of a man of honor and courage. Trump persuaded himself that Sessions was fungible, in order to justify scapegoating him for the special counsel investigation into alleged collusion between Russia and the Trump presidential campaign. Trump was wrong about Sessions’s disposability, and wrong to blame him for the appointment of a special counsel, which was triggered by Trump’s own impetuous firing of FBI director James Comey. Now that same willfulness

Again, please explain to the citizens of this country that when they see the blatant disregard for our laws by the chief law enforcement agencies(yes plural) of the United States and those agencies head sits on his hands, we are supposed to respect and revere that. You pretend that the guy who asked for the blatant corruption to be punished is somehow the bad guy. Please explain, we are all waiting.

Rather amusing that the people who drove him to recuse himself on a phony charge of Russian collusion because he attended a cocktail party where Russians happened to be also attending are now whining that he is gone. Obviously the democrats always want a toothless AG in the position when the republicans are in charge. They bring up every reason for Recusal then but when Holder or Lynch were obviously in violation of ethics in myriad situations the blind eye was there. When Mueller staffs his group with all democrat haters of Trump, no problem right? Well, good for the goose, good for the gander is my position.

Sessions is a man of "honor and achievement." But he by choice recused himself from a case that is nothing but judicial malfeasance leaving both the president -- its target -- and We the People who elected that president unprotected. All that while allowing true corruption within his own department to go unexplored, but less duly punished.

He had to go. And the president, as seemingly always, knew just when to act.

The moron who wrote this thinks President Trump threatens "this country’s primary advantage in the global realm: an independent and professional justice system."

The Justice Department is now in the hands of leftist operatives who are trying to undo this country´s real "primary advantage in the global realm": Our right as citizens to choose our leaders, and our President´s responsibility to appoint an Attorney General who protects that right.

Everything else is political noise.

There are enough criminals in plain sight in the District alone to keep someone working 24 hr days. The AG merely needs to decide when to eat and sleep then get back to work.

This ´firing of Comey´ fairy tale seems to have taken root in many media quarters. Comey served at the pleasure of the president and so does the GSA guy cutting the grass at the White House. Comey had no special position, privilege or protection.

Sessions appeared to be weak and confused when Al Franken challenged him on Russian contacts. Sessions falied to explain the difference between his role as a senator in dealing with foreign dignitaries, and as campaigner for the president.
And Sessions never recovered from that. He looked like an early onset alzheimer´s sufferer, whose reasoning powers are fading.
That, in turn, drove DJT off the rails.

Sessions was the wrong man for the job. He spent too much time in the Senate debating, and lost any managerial skills he once had. He also forgot how to work with a boss after years of not having one. He was rolled continuously by the liberal DOJ staff. He may have accomplished some things, but he was wrong to recuse himself from the Russian investigation without informing Trump first and giving the White House Counsel an opportunity to push back on the DOJ.

Just one example of Sessions’ willful blindness is the $146 million bribe to Hillary for her approval of the Uranium One sale to Russian interests. In November, 2017, Hannity’s FNC show revealed that there was an executive within Uranium One who would testify to the bribes paid to the Clinton Foundation and the $500,000 speaking fee to Bill for a 30 minute speech in Moscow. We learned months later from Gloria Tensing, the executive# lawyer and Joe DiGenova’s wife, that Sessions DoJ never interviewed this source. Gloria was and still is stunned by the lack of interest by Sessions, the DoJ and the FBI under Wray.

So please, don’t turn Sessions into the god of equal justice under the law. He was far too selective in enforcement of our laws and hid far too long behind his recusal. A recusal little different from Comey’s entrapment of the naive Papadopoulos.

Poster#15 expresses exactly what I said at the time of his hearing. The otherwise honorable Sessions appeared as a deer in the headlights and completely out of his league. I felt terrible for him, and for us. I. expressed here at the time that it looked like a case of early-onset dementia.

The worst part to me is that Sessions should have been so intimately familiar with how Democrat senators treat nominees, that he would have easily made the appropriate arguments against Franken and his band of dastardly Dems. It was incredibly frustrating to watch Jeff Sessions seemingly lose his mind and his nerve, live on C-Span.

I wish him well, and am glad to see him gone.

After sitting back in contemplation I have sadly come to the conclusion that Trump & Sessions have something in common - both are subject to a press and pundits who find them:
"damned if they do and damned if they don´t".

There is another thing they have in common: they both need our prayers, it´s the right thing to do.

Sessions either turned a (willfully?) blind eye to the corruption in DoJ and FBI, or he was a part of the ´insurance policy´ to stop Trump from the very beginning, including his early support of Trump to get an inside track.

Don´t put anything past folks who have been inside the Swamp for decades and decades.

I REALLY want to hope that Sessions was just blind, could not imagine that "good men" would be so corrupt, but I am starting to have my doubts these days.

That is an astonishing 19 point swing. Prior results had less variance, with Latino approval numbers at 36% in their November 1st findings. It was 27% in the pollster’s mid-October survey.

Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer have much in common with the character Fortunato in Edgar Allan Poe’s short story, “The Cask of Amontillado.” Having been lured into a political oubliette and chained to a wall, they are now being systematically immured by a man upon whom they have heaped countless insults. Like Poe’s ill-fated character, they hadn’t sobered up enough from their recent successes to realize that their antagonist was leading them into a trap when he declared in front of the cameras during their December White House meeting, “I am proud to shut down the government for border security.”
