Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) said Thursday that the U.S. is on the "verge" of a constitutional crisis because of the forced resignation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions. "I think it’s a big mistake to let Sessions go," Manchin, who was the only Democratic senator to vote to confirm the former attorney general, said on "CBS This Morning." He added that the U.S. is on the verge of a crisis because of the potential ramifications his ouster could have on special counsel Robert Mueller´s investigation into Russian election interference. His comments came just a day after Sessions formally resigned from his role at the

Why? Presidents never fired their Attorneys General before?

It´s not a high crime or misdemeanor to fire and hire a Cabinet appointee. Mueller is still working.

No we´re not.
The only crisis, is the one the voters are feeling after voting for you. And seeing so quickly after the election, you´re the Trojan Horse Judas all the rest of us knew you are.
I´d say you´re a weasel, but I don´t mean to insult the real weasels.

Where in the Constitution does it say that a President can´t replace (Sessions resigned, albeit at Trump´s request) a Cabinet member? Where in the Constitution does it provide for a "Special Counsel" who can conduct wide-raging investigations of the President? Where does the Constitution make the Justice Department a separate branch of government? This has nothing to do with the Constitution. It only has to do with the Democrats wanting a biased investigation of Trump.

#13, I heard that West Virginians like to have someone who is a KNOWN person in the Senate who can bring home the bacon, so they feel he will carry some weight on that end.

However, Joe´s vote won´t mean as much now that the Senate looks a bit further center-right than it did a few days ago, come January.

President Andrew Johnson was impeached and nearly removed (his brother in law, a senator, saved him) for firing a cabinet secretary.
That would have set a lousy precedent.

They cite Johnson´s impeachment for canning Stanton; Stanton wanted to ´punish,´ exploit the South after their capitulation. This was counter to Lincoln´s wishes at the end of the war.

There are two problems with their claim:
1. Sessions resigned voluntarily; Stanton did not.
2. Johnson was not convicted.

That´s my understanding. Manchin´s just blowing off steam and reassuring his masters that he´s on their side. They´ll make him pay for his Kavanaugh vote; this probably won´t satisfy them.

I am not buying that there wasn´t enough voters in WV to not re-elect Manchin. Trump won by over 40 points so that argument is utterly foolish. Here is the reason why Manchin won: gov´t handouts among the poor in West Virginia. It is all about receiving gov´t checks - from healthcare, social security to just outright welfare. People who receive gov´t checks know where their bread is buttered. Being a preacher, I see people all the time who think the church is simply their ATM to pay their bills - and, its far worse among the populace towards gov´t and Mr. Manchin is their connection to the gov´t gravy train!

Manchin either has severe memory problems or is counting on others´ cluelessness -- it´s almost convention for a President to perform a cull after midterms (and another one after reelection). Not to mention that the AG always serves at the pleasure of the President, no matter who holds those positions or when.

Manchin just reinforced a lot of unfair WVA stereotypes by uttering what is either deluded or downright dishonest. But that´s about par for the course for Democrats and their collaborators in the enemedia in recent decades...

There are two issues involved with the Mueller investigation, did the Russians interfere in the 2016 election, and did President Trump “collude” with the Russians to steal the election from Hillary Clinton.

There is no controversy that the Russians did use the internet in a minor way to do what they thought was in Russia’s interest by inserting misleading or false information relating to the election on the internet. There is no proof that the Russians were able to change any votes.

The Democrat interest is not with the Russians, but with using the “collusion” claim that was created by the Hillary Clinton to harass President Trump indefinitely by claiming, without any proof, that Trump somehow “colluded” with the Russians using a storyline that the Clinton campaign invented.

One thing is for sure, as long as there is an internet, and as long as Russia and other countries adverse to the USA are out there, those countries will try to influence anything that they can, including US elections, by posting misleading or false information on the internet. The Democrats had better get used to that.

If anyone were to look they would fine that the principle foreign country that actually interfered in the US election was Mexico, in behalf of the millions of Mexicans who are in the USA illegally. As Mexico would love to have ten million of more additional Mexicans being able to vote in US elections. Mexico knows that if the USA gives those Mexicans an official paper saying they they are given US citizenship, that in reality all would continue to consider themselves as Mexicans, who would be influenced by Mexican interests to vote in the national interest of Mexico.

Georgia Democrat gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams filed a lawsuit in federal court Sunday in the hopes she could legally force a runoff election in her race against rival Republican gubernatorial candidate Brian Kemp. Abrams, who has not conceded to Kemp despite him gaining 50.3 percent of the vote with 100 percent of precincts reporting as of Monday afternoon, filed a lawsuit Sunday to block two counties from rejecting provisional and absentee ballots with slight errors, the Washington Post reported. The lawsuit also calls for county officials to accept provisional ballots from voters who have not updated their current addresses when

It is “cruel and unscientific” to define a person’s legal sex by their biology, says a complaint signed by 98 Democratic House legislators. The Democrats’ statement was sent to President Donald Trump’s administration as the New York Times has reported that the administration will formally clarify that the sex of people involved in sex-discrimination legal fights will be based on their male or female body. Trump’s biology-determines-sex policy “makes it clear that members of this administration are willing to … solidify an archaic, dogmatic, and alarming view of the world,” the Democrats complain their letter to the Department of Health

Mr. Kerry, a former Democratic presidential nominee who has floated the idea of running again in 2020, made the comments in an interview with BBC Radio 4’s “Today” show to promote his new memoir, “Every Day Is Extra.” “We have a dearth of a leadership on a global basis right now and every country is feeling the pressure of

Sen. Jeff Flake announced Wednesday that he will not vote to advance any new judicial nominees through the Judiciary Committee, nor will he vote to confirm picks on the Senate floor, until he gets his way on unrelated legislation to prevent the firing of special counsel Robert Mueller. Mr. Flake made the announcement on the Senate floor minutes after his bid to pass the bill failed. His threat could block the committee from approving any more judges this year, since the GOP only holds a one-seat majority on the panel. It’s less catastrophic to approving judges on the Senate floor,

Tuesday evening Hillary Clinton told a crowd that Stacey Abrams, the apparent loser in Georgia’s recent gubernatorial election, would have won the race if not for Republican chicanery. She claimed—without evidence, to use a term much beloved of the media lately—that the “people on the other side” were guilty of undermining the rights of Georgia voters: Stacey is really in the arena and she is fighting for the right to vote and have your vote counted … If she had a fair election, she already would have won.

CHICAGO — To read the worshipful press coverage you’d never know that, for Democrats, the unthinkable has happened: Michelle Obama has revealed herself as just another guru for sale. On Tuesday night, the former first lady kicked off her 10-city North American book tour, which more closely resembled a cult-of-personality-propaganda-rally, at the United Center in Chicago. (Dates have been added in London, where scalped tickets are going for over $90,000 each, and Paris.) A sliver of the 20,000 seats available for the Chicago event were priced at $29.50, and those sold out within five minutes of going on sale in September.
